[AI] That the messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, when he set out to conquer Makkah, said to Abu Huraira, "Cheer for the Ansar." So he said, "O Ansar, respond to the messenger of Allah, peace be upon him." So they came as if they were on a meeting. Then he said, "Take this path, and no one should come near you except that you guarantee his safety." So the messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, set out and Allah granted him victory. The messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, then circumambulated the Kaaba and prayed two Rak'ahs, then he went out through the gate near Safa and climbed on Safa. He addressed the people while the Ansar were below him. The Ansar said to one another, "The man has been taken by mercy towards his people and his desire to return to his city." Allah sent revelation regarding what the Ansar said, and the messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, "O Ansar, you say that the man has been taken by mercy towards his people and his desire to return to his city." He said, "Who am I then? By Allah, I am certainly the slave of Allah and His messenger. The life of you is my life, and your death is my death." They said, "By Allah, O messenger of Allah, we did not say that except out of fear that they may attack us." He said, "You are truthful in the sight of Allah and His messenger." He said, "By Allah, there is none among them except that we have slaughtered them with tears." And this is from Sahih Bukhari.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ سَارَ إِلَى مَكَّةَ لِيَفْتَحَهَا قَالَ لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ «اهْتِفْ بِالْأَنْصَارِ» فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَجِيبُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَجَاءُوا كَأَنَّمَا كَانُوا عَلَى مِيعَادٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ اسْلُكُوا هَذِهِ الطَّرِيقَ وَلَا يَشْرُفَنَّ لَكُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا أَمَّنْتُمُوهُ فَسَارَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَفَتَحَهَا اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فَطَافَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِالْبَيْتِ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ مِنَ الْبَابِ الَّذِي يَلِي الصَّفَا فَصَعِدَ الصَّفَا فَخَطَبَ النَّاسَ وَالْأَنْصَارُ أَسْفَلَ مِنْهُ فَقَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ أَمَّا الرَّجُلُ فَأَخَذَتْهُ الرَّأْفَةُ بِقَوْمِهِ وَالرَّغْبَةُ فِي قَرْيَتِهِ وَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ الْوَحْيَ بِمَا قَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ تَقُولُونَ أَمَّا الرَّجُلُ فَقَدْ أَخَذَتْهُ الرَّأْفَةُ بِقَوْمِهِ وَالرَّغْبَةُ فِي قَرْيَتِهِ» قَالَ «فَمَنْ أَنَا إِذًا كَلَّا وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولُهُ حَقًّا فَالْمَحْيَا مَحْيَاكُمْ وَالْمَمَاتُ مَمَاتُكُمْ» قَالُوا وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا قُلْنَا ذَلِكَ إِلَّا مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يُعَادُونَا قَالَ «أَنْتُمْ صَادِقُونَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَعِنْدَ رَسُولِهِ» قَالَ «فَوَاللَّهِ مَا مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا بَلَّ نَحْرَهُ بِالدُّمُوعِ» وَمِنْهَاصحيح

When it was the day (of the battle) of Hunain, the tributes of Hawazin and Ghatafan and others, along with their animals and offspring (and wives) came to fight against the Prophet ﷺ The Prophet ﷺ had with him, ten thousand men and some of the Tulaqa. The companions fled, leaving the Prophet ﷺ alone. The Prophet then made two calls which were clearly distinguished from each other. He turned right and said, "O the group of Ansar!" They said, "Labbaik, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Rejoice, for we are with you!" Then he turned left and said, "O the group of Ansar!" They said, "Labbaik! O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Rejoice, for we are with you!" The Prophet ﷺ at that time, was riding on a white mule; then he dismounted and said, "I am Allah's Slave and His Apostle." The infidels then were defeated, and on that day the Prophet ﷺ gained a large amount of booty which he distributed amongst the Muhajirin and the Tulaqa and did not give anything to the Ansar. The Ansar said, "When there is a difficulty, we are called, but the booty is given to other than us." The news reached the Prophet ﷺ and he gathered them in a leather tent and said, "What is this news reaching me from you, O the group of Ansar?" They kept silent, He added," O the group of Ansar! Won't you be happy that the people take the worldly things and you take Messenger of Allah ﷺ to your homes reserving him for yourself?" They said, "Yes." Then the Prophet said, "If the people took their way through a valley, and the Ansar took their way through a mountain pass, surely, I would take the Ansar's mountain pass." Hisham said, "O Abu Hamza (i.e. Anas)! Did you witness that? " He replied, "And how could I be absent from him?"

O people of Ansar! They said: At thy beck and call (are we), Messenger of Allah. Be glad we are with thee. He then turned towards his left and said: O people of Ansar. They said: At thy beck and call (are we). Be glad we are with thee. He (the Holy Prophet) was riding a white mule. He dismounted and said: I am the servant of Allah and His Apostle. The polytheists suffered defeat and the Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) acquired a large quantity of spoils, and he distributed them among the refugees and the people recently delivered (of Mecca) but did not give anything to the Ansar. The Ansar said: In the hour of distress it is we who are called (for help). but the spoils are given to other people besides us. This (remark) reached him (the Holy Prophet). and he gathered them In a tent. and said: What is this news that has reached me on your behalf? They kept silence. Upon this he said: O people of Ansar, don't you like that people should go away with worldly (riches), and you go away with Muhammad taking him to your houses? They said: Yes, happy we are. Messenger of Allah. He (the Holy Prophet) said: If the people were to tread a valley, and the Ansar were to tread a narrow path, I would take the narrow path of the Ansar. Hisham said: I asked Abu Hamza if he was present there. He said: How could I be absent from him?

We came to Mu'awiya b. Abu Sufyan as a deputation and Abu Huraira was among us. Each of us would prepare food for his companions turn by turn for a day. (Accordingly) when it was my turn I said: Abu Huraira, it is my turn today. So they came to my place. The food was not yet ready, so I said to Abu Huraira: I wish you could narrate to us a tradition from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until the food was ready. (Complying with my request) Abu Huraira said: We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the Conquest of Mecca. He appointed Khalid b. Walid as commander of the right flank, Zubair as commander of the left flank, and Abu 'Ubaida as commander of the foot-soldiers (who were to advance) to the interior of the valley. He (then) said: Abu Huraira, call the Ansar to me. So I called out to them and they came hurriedly. He said: O ye Assembly of the Ansaar, do you see the ruffians of the Quraish? They said: Yes. He said: See, when you meet them tomorrow, wipe them out. He hinted at this with his hand, placing his right hand on his left and said: You will meet us at as-Safa'. (Abu Huraira continued): Whoever was seen by them that day was put to death. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended the mount of as-Safa'. The Ansar also came there and surrounded the mount. Then came Abu Sufyan and said: Messenger ot Allah, the Quraish have perished. No member of the Quraish tribe will survive this day. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Who enters the house of Abu Safyin will be safe, who lays down arms will be safe, who locks his door will be safe. (some of) the Ansar said: (After all) the man has been swayed by tenderness towards his family and love for his city. At this, Divine inspiration descended upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: You were saying that the man has been swayed by tenderness towards his family and love for his city. Do you know what my name is? I am Muhammad, the bondman of God and His Messenger. (He repeated this thrice.) I left my native place for the take of Allah and joined you. So I will live with you and die with you. Now the Ansar said: By God, we said (that) only out of our greed for Allah and His Messenger. He said: Allah and His Apostle testify to you and accept your apology.

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى يُدْرِكَ طَعَامُنَا فَقَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ فَجَعَلَ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ عَلَى الْمُجَنِّبَةِ الْيُمْنَى وَجَعَلَ الزُّبَيْرَ عَلَى الْمُجَنِّبَةِ الْيُسْرَى وَجَعَلَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ عَلَى الْبَيَاذِقَةِ وَبَطْنِ الْوَادِي فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ادْعُ لِي الأَنْصَارَ فَدَعَوْتُهُمْ فَجَاءُوا يُهَرْوِلُونَ فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الأَنْصَارِ هَلْ تَرَوْنَ أَوْبَاشَ قُرَيْشٍ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ انْظُرُوا إِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ غَدًا أَنْ تَحْصِدُوهُمْ حَصْدًا وَأَخْفَى بِيَدِهِ وَوَضَعَ يَمِينَهُ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ وَقَالَ مَوْعِدُكُمُ الصَّفَا قَالَ فَمَا أَشْرَفَ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَهُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلاَّ أَنَامُوهُ قَالَ وَصَعِدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الصَّفَا وَجَاءَتِ الأَنْصَارُ فَأَطَافُوا بِالصَّفَا فَجَاءَ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أُبِيدَتْ خَضْرَاءُ قُرَيْشٍ لاَ قُرَيْشَ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ قَالَ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ دَخَلَ دَارَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَهُوَ آمِنٌ وَمَنْ أَلْقَى السِّلاَحَ فَهُوَ آمِنٌ وَمَنْ أَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ فَهُوَ آمِنٌ فَقَالَتِ الأَنْصَارُ أَمَّا الرَّجُلُ فَقَدْ أَخَذَتْهُ رَأْفَةٌ بِعَشِيرَتِهِ وَرَغْبَةٌ فِي قَرْيَتِهِ وَنَزَلَ الْوَحْىُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ قُلْتُمْ أَمَّا الرَّجُلُ فَقَدْ أَخَذَتْهُ رَأْفَةٌ بِعَشِيرَتِهِ وَرَغْبَةٌ فِي قَرْيَتِهِ أَلاَ فَمَا اسْمِي إِذًا ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ أَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولُهُ هَاجَرْتُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَإِلَيْكُمْ فَالْمَحْيَا مَحْيَاكُمْ وَالْمَمَاتُ مَمَاتُكُمْ قَالُوا وَاللَّهِ مَا قُلْنَا إِلاَّ ضِنًّا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ قَالَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يُصَدِّقَانِكُمْ وَيَعْذِرَانِكُمْ

[AI] Delegations came to Muawiyah, and I was among them, as was Abu Huraira, during Ramadan. Some of us started preparing food for others. Abu Huraira used to invite us frequently. Hashim, said: "Abu Huraira invites us a lot." I responded: "Shall I make food and invite them to my place?" I commanded for food to be prepared, and I met Abu Huraira after the evening prayer. I said: "O Abu Huraira, the invitation is at my place tonight." He asked: "Did you invite them before me?" Hashim replied: "Yes." Abu Huraira said: "I wanted to inform you all about a statement from your own sayings, O people of Ansar." He mentioned the Conquest of Mecca. He said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ advanced into Mecca and ordered Zubair to go to one of the lesser pilgrim sanctuaries, and he ordered Khalid to go to the other lesser pilgrim sanctuary, and he ordered Abu 'Ubaidah to go to his garrison. They took to the lower part of the valley while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in his tent." He said: "The Quraysh heralded its safety and that of its followers." He said: "They said: 'We will offer that which they seek. If something happens to them, we will give something to those who ask for it.'"

Abu Huraira said: "He looked towards them and saw me. He said: 'O Abu Huraira!' and I replied: 'Labbaik, Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Let me hear the voice of the Ansar.' Those who responded are my Ansar.' So I called them and they came running, encircling the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do you see the Quraysh and their followers? Raise your arms, one above the other, and gather spoils from them until you meet me at Safa." Abu Huraira said: "So we set off. Whoever we encountered, we killed, whoever came to us seeking protection, we granted it. Abu Sufyan said: 'Are the Banu Harith (of Khuza'ah) safe or not?' He said: 'No the Banu Harith (of Khuza'ah) are not safe after this day.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever closed his door is safe, and whoever entered the house of Abu Sufyan is safe.'" He said: "So the people closed their doors." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ approached the black stone and touched it, while holding the handle of his bow. He then came by a deity that they worshipped beside the Ka'bah. He poked it with the bow, saying: 'The truth has come and falsehood has perished.'" He said: "Then he came to Safa and we walked together to examine the Ka'bah. He raised his hands, mentioning Allah with whatever He willed to mention, making supplication to Him." He said: "The Ansar were below him." He said: "Some of them said to others": "A man's love for his homeland and his concern for his tribe overwhelmed him." Abu Huraira said: "Then the Revelation came, and when it came, we were not surprised. No one among the people raised his hand with this supplication towards the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until the matter was decided." Hashim said: "When the Revelation was finished, he raised his head and said: 'O people of Ansar, did you say: A man's love for his homeland and his concern for his tribe overwhelmed him?' They replied: 'Yes, we did, Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Then what will be my name?' 'Absolutely not, you are the slave of Allah and His Messenger. We migrated to Allah and we migrate towards you. Our life is your life and our death is your death.'' They approached him crying and said: 'Wallahi, we did not say anything for which we sought to doubt Allah and His Messenger.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah and His Messenger believe you and excuse you.'"

وَفَدَتْ وُفُودٌ إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ أَنَا فِيهِمْ وَأَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَجَعَلَ بَعْضُنَا يَصْنَعُ لِبَعْضٍ الطَّعَامَ قَالَ وَكَانَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ يُكْثِرُ مَا يَدْعُونَا قَالَ هَاشِمٌ يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَدْعُوَنَا إِلَى رَحْلِهِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ أَلَا أَصْنَعُ طَعَامًا فَأَدْعُوَهُمْ إِلَى رَحْلِي قَالَ فَأَمَرْتُ بِطَعَامٍ يُصْنَعُ وَلَقِيتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ مِنَ الْعِشَاءِ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ الدَّعْوَةُ عِنْدِي اللَّيْلَةَ قَالَ أَسَبَقْتَنِي؟ قَالَ هَاشِمٌ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَدَعَوْتُهُمْ فَهُمْ عِنْدِي قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ أَلَا أُعْلِمُكُمْ بِحَدِيثٍ مِنْ حَدِيثِكُمْ يَا مَعَاشِرَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالَ فَذَكَرَ فَتْحَ مَكَّةَ قَالَ أَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَدَخَلَ مَكَّةَ قَالَ فَبَعَثَ الزُّبَيْرَ عَلَى إِحْدَى الْمُجَنِّبَتَيْنِ وَبَعَثَ خَالِدًا عَلَى الْمُجَنِّبَةِ الْأُخْرَى وَبَعَثَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ عَلَى الْحُسَّرِ فَأَخَذُوا بَطْنَ الْوَادِي وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي كَتِيبَتِهِ قَالَ وَقَدْ وَبَّشَتْ قُرَيْشٌ أَوْبَاشَهَا قَالَ فَقَالُوا نُقَدِّمُ هَؤُلَاءِفَإِنْ كَانَ لَهُمْ شَيْءٌ كُنَّا مَعَهُمْ وَإِنْ أُصِيبُوا أَعْطَيْنَا الَّذِي سُئِلْنَا قَالَ فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَنَظَرَ فَرَآنِي فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَقُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ اهْتِفْ لِي بِالْأَنْصَارِ وَلَا يَأْتِينِي إِلَّا أَنْصَارِيٌّ فَهَتَفْتُ بِهِمْ فَجَاءُوا فَأَطَافُوا بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ تَرَوْنَ إِلَى أَوْبَاشِ قُرَيْشٍ وَأَتْبَاعِهِمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ بِيَدَيْهِ إِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى احْصُدُوهُمْ حَصْدًا حَتَّى تُوَافُونِي بِالصَّفَا قَالَ فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَانْطَلَقْنَا فَمَا يَشَاءُ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا أَنْ يَقْتُلَ مِنْهُمْ مَا شَاءَ وَمَا أَحَدٌ يُوَجِّهُ إِلَيْنَا مِنْهُمْ شَيْئًا قَالَ فَقَالَ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أُبِيحَتْ خَضْرَاءُ قُرَيْشٍ لَا قُرَيْشَ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ فَهُوَ آمِنٌ وَمَنْ دَخَلَ دَارَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَهُوَ آمِنٌ قَالَ فَغَلَّقَ النَّاسُ أَبْوَابَهُمْ قَالَ فَأَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى الْحَجَرِ فَاسْتَلَمَهُ ثُمَّ طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ قَالَ وَفِي يَدِهِ قَوْسٌ آخَذٌ بِسِيَةِ الْقَوْسِ قَالَ فَأَتَى فِي طَوَافِهِ عَلَى صَنَمٍ إِلَى جَنْبِ الْبَيْتِ يَعْبُدُونَهُ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ يَطْعَنُبِهَا فِي عَيْنِهِ وَيَقُولُ جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَتَى الصَّفَا فَعَلَاهُ حَيْثُ يُنْظَرُ إِلَى الْبَيْتِ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ فَجَعَلَ يَذْكُرُ اللهَ بِمَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَذْكُرَهُ وَيَدْعُوهُ قَالَ وَالْأَنْصَارُ تَحْتَهُ قَالَ يَقُولُ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ أَمَّا الرَّجُلُ فَأَدْرَكَتْهُ رَغْبَةٌ فِي قَرْيَتِهِ وَرَأْفَةٌ بِعَشِيرَتِهِ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ وَجَاءَ الْوَحْيُ وَكَانَ إِذَا جَاءَ لَمْ يَخْفَ عَلَيْنَا فَلَيْسَ أَحَدٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ يَرْفَعُ طَرْفَهُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى يُقْضَى قَالَ هَاشِمٌ فَلَمَّا قُضِيَ الْوَحْيُ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَقُلْتُمْ أَمَّا الرَّجُلُ فَأَدْرَكَتْهُ رَغْبَةٌ فِي قَرْيَتِهِ وَرَأْفَةٌ بِعَشِيرَتِهِ؟ قَالُوا قُلْنَا ذَلِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ فَمَا اسْمِي إِذًا؟ كَلَّا إِنِّي عَبْدُ اللهِ وَرَسُولُهُ هَاجَرْتُ إِلَى اللهِ وَإِلَيْكُمْ فَالْمَحْيَا مَحْيَاكُمْ وَالْمَمَاتُ مَمَاتُكُمْ قَالَ فَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَيْهِ يَبْكُونَ وَيَقُولُونَ وَاللهِ مَا قُلْنَا الَّذِي قُلْنَا إِلَّا الضِّنَّ بِاللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِنَّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يُصَدِّقَانِكُمْ وَيَعْذُرَانِكُمْ

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed of this, he came to them and said, 'Are there some things you do not safeguard?' They replied, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'You used to not ride horses.' Every time he said something to them, they agreed with him. But when he saw that they did not respond to what he said, he asked, 'Do you say that your people fought you and we supported and protected you?' They replied, 'We do not say that, O Messenger of Allah. You say it.' He said, 'O Ansar, are you not pleased that people have the worldly things and you have the Messenger of Allah?' They said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'O Ansar, are you not pleased that if people took one path and you took another, you would take the path of the Ansar?' They said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'If it were not for migration, I would have been one of the Ansar, with a curly head, and my family and home would be among them. So forgive those who wronged you and accept from those who did good.' Abu Sa'id said, 'I said to Muawiya, 'Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed us that we will see his effects after him.' Muawiya asked, 'What is your plan?' I said, 'Our plan is to be patient.' He said, 'Then be patient.'"

رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ لِأَصْحَابِهِ أَمَا وَاللهِ لَقَدْ كُنْتُ أُحَدِّثُكُمْ أَنَّهُ لَوْ قَدِ اسْتَقَامَتِ الْأُمُورُ قَدْ آثَرَ عَلَيْكُمْ قَالَ فَرَدُّوا عَلَيْهِ رَدًّا عَنِيفًا قَالَ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فَجَاءَهُمْ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ أَشْيَاءَ لَا أَحْفَظُهَا قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ فَكُنْتُمْ لَا تَرْكَبُونَ الْخَيْلَ قَالَ فَكُلَّمَا قَالَ لَهُمْ شَيْئًا قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ فَلَمَّا رَآهُمْ لَا يَرُدُّونَ عَلَيْهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ أَفَلَاتَقُولُونَ قَاتَلَكَ قَوْمُكَ فَنَصَرْنَاكَ وَأَخْرَجَكَ قَوْمُكَ فَآوَيْنَاكَ؟ قَالُوا نَحْنُ لَا نَقُولُ ذَلِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنْتَ تَقُولُهُ قَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَلَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ النَّاسُ بِالدُّنْيَا وَتَذْهَبُونَ أَنْتُمْ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ؟ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَلَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنَّ النَّاسَ لَوْ سَلَكُوا وَادِيًا وَسَلَكْتُمْ وَادِيًا لَسَلَكْتُ وَادِيَ الْأَنْصَارِ؟ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ لَوْلَا الْهِجْرَةُ لَكُنْتُ امْرَأً مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ كَرِشِي وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَعَيْبَتِي الَّتِي آوِي إِلَيْهَا فَاعْفُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ وَاقْبَلُوا مِنْ مُحْسِنِهِمْ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ قُلْتُ لِمُعَاوِيَةَ أَمَا إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَّنَا سَنَرَى بَعْدَهُ أَثَرَةً؟ قَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَمَا أَمَرَكُمْ؟ قُلْتُ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَصْبِرَ قَالَ فَاصْبِرُوا إِذًا

[AI] When it was the Day of Hunayn, the tribes of Hawazin and Ghatafan gathered in great numbers against the Prophet ﷺ . At that time, the Prophet ﷺ had ten thousand or more than ten thousand with him. It is said that the Talhaka tribe also accompanied him. They brought with them their livestock and offspring, which they placed behind them. When they met, the people turned away, while the Prophet ﷺ rode on a white horse. He dismounted and said, "I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger." Then he called out with two distinct calls, and then turned to his right and said, "Oh Ansar, what do you have to say?" They replied, "Labbaik, O Messenger of Allah, we are with you." He then turned to his left and said, "Oh Ansar, what do you say?" They replied, "Labbaik, O Messenger of Allah, we are with you." Then he descended to the ground and they met the enemy, defeating them and gaining spoils. The Prophet ﷺ gave the Talhaka tribe their share and divided the spoils among them. The Ansar said, "We are called upon during hardship but the spoils are distributed to others." The Prophet ﷺ was informed of their complaint and gathered them in a tent. He asked them, "What is the news that reached me about you, O Ansar?" They remained quiet, and he said, "Oh Ansar, if the people choose a valley and you choose a mountain, I will choose your mountain (meaning he would be with the Ansar)." He then asked them, "Would you be satisfied if the people take worldly possessions while you take the Messenger of Allah and protect him in your homes?" They replied, "We are satisfied, O Messenger of Allah, we are satisfied." Ibn Awun said that Hisham bin Zaid said, "I said to Anas while witnessing that, 'Where can I find such dedication?'"

لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ حُنَيْنٍ وَجَمَعَتْهَوَازِنُ وَغَطَفَانُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ جَمْعًا كَثِيرًا وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي عَشَرَةِ آلَافٍ أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ عَشَرَةِ آلَافٍ قَالَ وَمَعَهُ الطُّلَقَاءُ قَالَ فَجَاءُوا بِالنَّعَمِ وَالذُّرِّيَّةِ فَجُعِلُوا خَلْفَ ظُهُورِهِمْ قَالَ فَلَمَّا الْتَقَوْا وَلَّى النَّاسُ قَالَ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ بَيْضَاءَ قَالَ فَنَزَلَ وَقَالَ إِنِّي عَبْدُ اللهِ وَرَسُولُهُ قَالَ وَنَادَى يَوْمَئِذٍ نِدَاءَيْنِ لَمْ يُخْلَطْ بَيْنَهُمَا كَلَامٌ وَالْتَفَتَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَقَالَ أَيْ مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالُوا لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ امْشِ نَحْنُ مَعَكَ ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَقَالَ أَيْ مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالُوا لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ نَحْنُ مَعَكَ ثُمَّ نَزَلَ بِالْأَرْضِ وَالْتَقَوْا فَهَزَمُوا وَأَصَابُوا مِنَ الْغَنَائِمِ فَأَعْطَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الطُّلَقَاءَ وَقَسَمَ فِيهَا فَقَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ نُدْعَى عِنْدَ الْكُرْهِ وَتُقْسَمُ الْغَنِيمَةُ لِغَيْرِنَا فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَجَمَعَهُمْ وَقَعَدَ فِي قُبَّةٍ فَقَالَ أَيْ مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ مَا حَدِيثٌ بَلَغَنِي عَنْكُمْ؟ فَسَكَتُوا ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ لَوْ أَنَّ النَّاسَ سَلَكُوا وَادِيًا وَسَلَكَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ شِعْبًا لَأَخَذْتُ شِعْبَ الْأَنْصَارِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ النَّاسُ بِالدُّنْيَا وَتَذْهَبُونَ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ تَحُوزُونَهُ إِلَى بُيُوتِكُمْ؟ قَالُوا رَضِينَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ رَضِينَا قَالَ ابْنُ عَوْنٍ قَالَ هِشَامُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ فَقُلْتُ لِأَنَسٍ وَأَنْتَشَاهِدُ ذَاكَ قَالَ فَأَيْنَ أَغِيبُ عَنْ ذَاكَ؟

ذِكْرُ مَا يُسْتَحَبُّ لِلْإِمَامِ إِذَا أَرَادَ مُوَاقَعَةَ أَهْلِ بَلَدٍ مِنْ دَارِ الْحَرْبِ أَنْ يُعَبِّئَ الْكَتَائِبَ حَتَّى تَكُونَ مُوَاقَعَتُهُ إِيَّاهُمْ عَلَى غَيْرِ غِرَّةٍ

[AI] "A delegation came to Muawiyah during Ramadan, which included me and Abu Hurairah. Some of us would prepare food for others. Abu Hurairah would often invite us to his journey, so I said, "If I prepare food and invite them to my journey, would you permit me?" He agreed. So I prepared the food, then I met Abu Hurairah in the evening and said, "O Abu Hurairah, the invitation is with me tonight." He replied, "You beat me to it." He invited them to my journey. Abu Hurairah said, "Should I accompany you or speak to you? I have a story to tell you, O Ansar, until the food arrives." He mentioned the conquest of Mecca and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived and entered Mecca. He sent Zubair to one side and Khalid bin Al-Walid to the other, and sent Abu Ubaidah to the Husar. They took control of the valley while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in a tent. Quraysh sent us messengers, saying, 'We will give you anything you ask for if you present them to us, and if they are harmed, we will compensate them.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at me, and he said, 'O Abu Hurairah, announce to the Ansar, so that only my Ansar will come to me.'"

Abu Hurairah called out to the Ansar, and they came and surrounded the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He then said, "Do you see the messengers of Quraysh and their followers?" and he struck the fingers of his right hand against the palm of his left hand and said, "Capture them and don't release them until you meet me at Safa." Abu Hurairah said, "So we went, and whenever anyone from among us wanted to kill someone from them, he was killed, and whenever any of them indicated anything to us, we followed their requests."

Abu Sufyan said, "O Messenger of Allah, are they granted amnesty?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever closes his door is safe, and whoever enters the house of Abu Sufyan is safe." So they closed their doors and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and took the Black Stone, circled the Ka'bah with it, and had a bow in his hand. Near the Ka'bah was an idol that they used to worship. The Prophet ﷺ struck it with the bow and said, "The truth has come and falsehood has vanished."

After completing the Tawaf, he came to Safa and stood facing the Ka'bah, raising his hands and praising Allah and mentioning whatever He willed. The Ansar stood beneath him and said to each other, "This man has fulfilled his desire for his land and his concern for his tribe." Abu Hurairah said, "It was not hidden from us that whenever the revelation came down, none of us looked at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and no one would approach him until the revelation was completed. When the revelation ended, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Ansar, you said, 'This man has fulfilled his desire for his land and his concern for his tribe.'' They said, 'Indeed, O Messenger of Allah, we said that.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'No, I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger. I migrated for the sake of Allah, and your life is equivalent to mine, and your death is equivalent to mine.'"

They began to weep and say, "By Allah, what we said was only a guess regarding Allah and His Messenger." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, Allah and His Messenger have sworn allegiance to you and will excuse you."

وَفَدَتْ وفُودٌ إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ فِي رَمَضَانَ أَنَا فِيهِمْ وَأَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ وَكَانَ بَعْضُنَا يَصْنَعُ لِبَعْضٍ الطَّعَامَ وَكَانَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَدْعُوَنَا عَلَى رَحْلِهِ فَقُلْتُ لَوْ صَنَعْتُ طَعَامًا ثُمَّ دَعَوْتُهُمْ إِلَى رَحْلِي فَأَمَرْتُ بِطَعَامٍ فَصُنِعَ ثُمَّ لَقِيتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ مِنَ الْعَشِيِّ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ الدَّعْوَةُ عِنْدِي اللَّيْلَةَ فَقَالَ سَبَقْتَنِي قَالَ فَدَعَوْتُهُمْ إِلَى رَحْلِي إِذْ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ أَلَا أُحَامِلُكُمْ أَوْ أُحَادِثُكُمْ إِنِّي أُحَدِّثُكُمْ بِحَدِيثٍ مِنْ حَدِيثِكُمْ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ حَتَّى يُدْرِكَ الطَّعَامُ فَذَكَرَ فَتْحَ مَكَّةَ فَقَالَ أَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَدَخَلَ مَكَّةَ فَبَعَثَ الزُّبَيْرَ عَلَى أَحَدِ الْجَنَبَتَيْنِ وَبَعَثَ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ عَلَى الْيُسْرَى وَبَعَثَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ عَلَى الْحُسَّرِ فَأَخَذُوا الْوَادِيَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي كَتِيبَتِهِ وَقَدْ بَعَثَتْ قُرَيْشٌ أَوْبَاشًا لَهَا وَأَتْبَاعًا لَهَا فَقَالُوا نُقَدِّمُ هَؤُلَاءِ وَإِنْ كَانَ لَهُمْ شَيْءٌ كُنَّا مَعَهُمْ وَإِنْ أُصِيبُوا أَعْطَيْنَا مَا سَأَلُوا فَنَظَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَرَآنِي فَقَالَ «يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ اهْتِفْ بِالْأَنْصَارِ فَلَا يَأْتِينِي إِلَّا أَنْصَارِيٌّ» فَهَتَفَ بِهِمْ فَجَاءُوا فَأَحَاطُوا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَمَا تَرَوْنَ إِلَى أَوْبَاشِ قُرَيْشٍ وَأَتْبَاعِهِمْ» وَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى مِمَّا يَلِي الْخِنْصَرَ وَسَطَ الْيُسْرَى وَقَالَ «احْصُدُوهُمْ حَصْدًا حَتَّى تُوَافُونِي بِالصَّفَا» قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَانْطَلَقْنَا فَمَا يَشَاءُ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا أَنْ يَقْتُلَ مَنْ شَاءَ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا قَتَلَهُ وَمَا يُوَجِّهُ أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ إِلَيْنَا شَيْئًا فَقَالَ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أُبِيحَتْ خَضْرَاءُ قُرَيْشٍ لَا قُرَيْشَ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ أَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ فَهُوَ آمِنٌ وَمَنْ دَخَلَ دَارَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَهُوَ آمِنٌ» فَأَغْلَقُوا أَبْوَابَهُمْ وَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى اسْتَلَمَ الْحَجَرَ وَطَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ وَفِي يَدِهِ قَوْسٌ وَهُوَ آخِذٌ الْقَوْسَ وَكَانَ إِلَى جَنْبِ الْبَيْتِ صَنَمٌ كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَهُ فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَطْعَنُ فِي جَنْبِهِ بِالْقَوْسِ وَيَقُولُ «جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ» فَلَمَّا قَضَى طَوَافَهُ أَتَى الصَّفَا فَعَلَا حَيْثُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْبَيْتِ فَجَعَلَ ﷺ يَرْفَعُ يَدَهُ وَجَعَلَ يَحْمَدُ اللَّهَ وَيَذْكُرُ مَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَذْكُرُهُ وَالْأَنْصَارُ تَحْتَهُ فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمُ لِبَعْضٍ أَمَّا الرَّجُلُ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَتْهُ رَغْبَةٌ فِي قَرْيَتِهِ وَرَأْفَةٌ بِعَشِيرَتِهِ وَنَزَلَ الْوَحْيُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ وَكَانَ لَا يَخْفَى عَلَيْنَا إِذَا نَزَلَ الْوَحْيُ لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا يَنْظُرُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَلْ يَطْرِقُ حَتَّى يَنْقَضِيَ الْوَحْيُ فَلَمَّا قُضِيَ الْوَحْيُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ قُلْتُمْ أَمَّا الرَّجُلُ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَتْهُ رَغْبَةٌ فِي قَرْيَتِهِ وَرَأْفَةٌ بِعَشِيرَتِهِ» قَالُوا قَدْ قُلْنَا ذَاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كَلَّا إِنِّي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولُهُ هَاجَرْتُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَإِلَيْكُمُ الْمَحْيَا مَحْيَاكُمْ وَالْمَمَاتُ مَمَاتُكُمْ» فأَقْبَلُوا يَبْكُونَ وَيَقُولُونَ وَاللَّهِ مَا قُلْنَا الَّذِي قُلْنَا إِلَّا ضَنًّا بِاللَّهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِ قَالَ «وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يُصَدِّقَانِكُمْ وَيَعْذِرَانِكُمْ»

They turned away from him until he remained alone. He called out twice on that day with two different calls that were not mixed together. He turned to his right and said, "O people of the Ansar!" They replied, "Here we are, O Messenger of Allah! We are with you!" He then turned to his left and said, "O people of the Ansar!" They replied, "Here we are, O Messenger of Allah! We are with you!" He was riding a white she-mule and then dismounted and said, "I am Abdullah, the slave of Allah and His Messenger." The polytheists were then defeated, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ obtained many spoils of war. He distributed them among the emigrants and the free men, but did not give anything to the Ansar. The Ansar said, "When there is a difficulty, we are with you, but when there is plunder, you give it to others and not us." When the Prophet learned of this, he gathered them in one place and said, "O people of the Ansar, what rumor has reached me?" They remained silent. He then said, "O people of the Ansar, would you not be satisfied if people went with the sheep and you went with Muhammad ﷺ to your homes?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah, we are satisfied." He said, "If the people took one path and the Ansar took another, I would take the path of the Ansar."

قال لما كان يوم حنين أقبلت هوازن وغطفان ومعهم دوابهم ونعمهم ومع رسول الله ﷺ يومئذ عشرة آلاف رجل ومعه الطلقاء فأدبروا عنه حتى بقي وحده فنادى يومئذ نداءين لم يخلط بينهما شيء فالتفت عن يمينه فقال يا معشر الأنصار فقالوا لبيك يا رَسولَ اللهِ نحن معك والتفت عن يساره فقال يا معشر الأنصار قالوا لبيك يا رَسولَ اللهِ نحن معك قال ورسول الله صلى الله عيه وسلم على بغلة بيضاء قال فَنَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فقال أنا عَبد الله ورسوله وانهزم المشركون وأصاب رسول الله ﷺ غنائم كثيرة فقسمها في المهاجرين والطلقاء ولم يعط الأنصار شيئا فقالت الأنصار إذا كانت الشدة فنحن ندعى وتعطى الغنيمة غيرنا فبلغه ذلك فجمعهم في قبة فقال يا معشر الأنصار ما حديث بلغني؟ فسكتوا فقال يا معشر الأنصار أما ترضون أن يذهب الناس بالدنيا وَتَذْهَبُونَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ إِلَى بيوتكم؟ قالوا بلى يا رَسولَ اللهِ رضينا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْ سَلَكَ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا وَسَلَكَتِ الأَنْصَارُ شِعْبًا لأخذت شعب الأَنْصَارِ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ هشام بن زيد عَن أَنَس إلاَّ ابن عون

قال وفد وفد إلى معاوية رحمه الله وأنا فيهم وأبو هريرة وذلك في رمضان فكان بعضنا يصنع لبعض الطعام فكان أبو هريرة ممن يكثر فيدعو إلى رحله فقلت ألا أصنع طعاما ثم أدعوهم إلى رحلي قال ثم لقيت أبا هريرة من العشاء قال قلت الدعوة عندي الليلة قال سبقتني؟ قلت نعم قال فدعوتهم فهم عندي فقال أبو هريرة ؓ ألا أعلمكم بحديث من حديثكم يا معشر الأنصار قال أَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حتى إذا دخل مكة قال فبعث الزبير على إحدى المجنبتين وبعث خالد بن الوليد على المجنبة الأخرى وبعث أبا عبيدة على الحسر والحسر الذين ليست عليهم أداة وقد وبشت قريش أوباشها وأتباعها قالوا نقدم هؤلاء فإن كان لهم ساكنا معهم وأن أصيبوا أعطينا فأخذوا بطن الوادي وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي كتيبة فنظر فرآني فقال يا أبا هريرة قلت لبيك رسول الله قال أترى إلى أوباش قريش وأتباعها ثم قال اهتف بالأنصار ولا يأتيني إلا أنصاري فهتف بهم فجاءوا حتى أطافوا برسول الله ﷺ فقال أترون إلى أوباش قريش وأتباعهم ثم قال بيده على الأخرى احصدوهم حصدا حتى توافوني بالصفا قال أبو هريرة فانطلقنا فما يشاء أحد منا أن يقتل منهم من شاء إلا فعل وجاء أبو سفيان فقال يا رسول الله أبيحت أو أبحت خضراء قريش لا قريش بعد اليوم فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ من أغلق بابه فهو آمن ومن دخل دار أبي سفيان فهو آمن قال فغلق الناس أبوابهم وأقبل رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى انتهى إلى الحجر فاستلمه ثم طاف بالبيت وفي يده قوس قد أخذ بسية القوس فأتى على صنم إلى جنب البيت فجعل يطعن بها في عينه ويقول جاء الحق وزهق الباطل ثم انطلق حتى أتى الصفا حيث ينظر إلى البيت فرفع يديه وجعل يحمد الله ويدعو والأنصار تحته يقول بعضهم لبعض أما الرجل فأدركته رغبة في قومه ورأفة لعشيرته قال وقال أبو هريرة ؓ وجاء الوحي وكان إذا جاء لم يخف عليهم فليس أحد يرفع طرفه إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حتى يقضي الوحي فلما قضى الوحي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يا معشر الأنصار أقلتم أما الرجل فأدركته رغبة في قرابته ورأفة بعشيرته قالوا قد قلنا ذاك قال كلا إني عبد الله ورسوله هاجرت إلى الله وإليكم المحيا محياكم والممات مماتكم فأقبلوا إليه يبكون ويقولون والله ما قلنا الذي قلنا إلا ظنا بالله ورسوله قال فإن الله ورسوله يصدقانكم ويعذرانكم

When the people came, we met them. No one passed us except that we put them to sleep. We surrounded the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He climbed Safa, the Ansar circled around Safa, and Abu Sufyan came and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the green pastures of the Quraysh have been opened, there are no Quraysh after today.' He said, 'Whoever closes his door is safe, whoever throws down his weapon is safe, and whoever enters the house of Abu Sufyan is safe.'"

So I called out to them, and they surrounded the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as if they were meeting by appointment. He said, "O Ansar, Quraysh has gathered against us. So when you meet them, attack them until you meet me at Safa, Safa is your meeting place." Abu Hurairah said, "We did not meet any of them except that we fought them. Then Abu Sufyan came and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, Quraysh has surrendered, there is no Quraysh after today.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever shuts his door, he is safe. Whoever enters the house of Abu Sufyan, he is safe. Whoever lays down his weapon, he is safe. And the leaders and chiefs of Quraysh have taken refuge in the Ka'bah,' meaning they have entered it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then came and circled the Ka'bah, and he struck those idols with the tip of his bow saying, "The truth has come and falsehood has vanished. Indeed, falsehood is ever bound to perish." (Quran 17:81) Then, when he finished and prayed, he took hold of the door handle and said, "O people of Quraysh, what do you say?" They said, "We say, the son of a brother and a cousin, a merciful and noble man." Then, he repeated this statement to them. They said the same thing. He said, "Indeed, I say what my brother Yusuf said, 'No blame will there be upon you today. May Allah forgive you, and He is the most merciful of the merciful.'" (Quran 12:92) So they pledged allegiance to him on Islam. Then, he went to Safa for the meeting with the Ansar. He stood on Safa in a place where he could see the Ka'bah, and he praised and thanked Allah, and mentioned His victory to them. Abu Hurairah said, "The elderly men began to cry until their beards were soaked with tears." Then they said, "We seek forgiveness from Allah and His Messenger, and by Allah, we said nothing except out of confidence in Allah and His Messenger." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah has confirmed your words and the words of His Messenger and has accepted your pledge."

لَمَّا فَتْحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَكَّةَ اسْتَعْمَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الزُّبَيْرَ بْنَ الْعَوَّامِ عَلَى إِحْدَى الْمُجَنِّبَتَيْنِ وَخَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى قَالَ فَبَصُرَ بِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي كَبْكَبَةٍ فَهَتَفَ بِي قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «اهْتِفْ لِي بِالْأَنْصَارِ» فَهَتَفْتُ بِهِمْ فَطَافُوا بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كَأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا عَلَى مِيعَادٍ قَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا قَدْ جَمَعُوا لَنَا فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فَاحْصُدُوهُمْ حَصْدًا حَتَّى تُوَافُونِي بِالصَّفَا الصَّفَا مِيعَادُكُمْ» [155] قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَمَا لَقِينَا مِنْهُمْ أَحَدًا إِلَّا فَعَلْنَا بِهِ كَذَا وَكَذَا وَجَاءَ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَبَحْتَ خَضْرَاءَ قُرَيْشٍ لَا قُرَيْشَ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ أَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ فَهُوَ آمِنٌ وَمَنْ دَخَلَ دَارَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَهُوَ آمِنٌ وَمَنْ أَلْقَى السِّلَاحَ فَهُوَ آمِنٌ وَلَجَأَتْ صَنَادِيدُ قُرَيْشٍ وَعُظَمَاؤُهَا إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ يَعْنِي دَخَلُوا فِيهَا» قَالَ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ فَجَعَلَ يَمُرُّ بِتِلْكَ الْأَصْنَامِ فَيَطْعَنُهَا بِسِيَةِ الْقَوْسِ وَيَقُولُ {جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ إِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا} [الإسراء 81] حَتَّى إِذَا فَرَغَ وَصَلَّى جَاءَ فَأَخَذَ بِعَضَادَتَيِ الْبَابِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ قُرَيْشٍ مَا تَقُولُونَ؟» قَالُوا نَقُولُ ابْنُ أَخٍ وَابْنُ عَمٍّ رَحِيمٌ كَرِيمٌ ثُمَّ عَادَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقَوْلَ قَالُوا مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَقُولُ كَمَا قَالَ أَخِي يُوسُفُ {لَا تَثْرِيبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ يَغْفِرُ اللهُ لَكُمْ وَهُو أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ} [يوسف 92] فَخَرَجُوا فَبَايَعُوهُ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ ثُمَّ أَتَى الصَّفَا لِمِيعَادِ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَامَ عَلَى الصَّفَا عَلَى مَكَانٍ يَرَى الْبَيْتَ مِنْهُ فَحَمِدَ اللهُ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَذَكَرَ نَصَرَهُ إِيَّاهُ فَقَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ وَهُمْ أَسْفَلُ مِنْهُ أَمَّا الرَّجُلُ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَتْهُ رَأْفَةٌ لِقَرَابَتِهِ وَرَغْبَتُهُ فِي عَشِيرَتِهِ فَجَاءَهُ الْوَحْيُ بِذَلِكَ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا جَاءَهُ الْوَحْيُ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا يَرْفَعُ طَرْفَهُ إِلَيْهِ حَتَّى يَنْقَضِيَ الْوَحْيُ عَنْهُ فَلَمَّا قُضِيَ الْوَحْيُ قَالَ هِيهِ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ قُلْتُمْ أَمَّا الرَّجُلُ فَأَدْرَكْتُهُ رَأْفَةٌ بِقَرَابَتِهِ وَرَغْبَةٌ فِي عَشِيرَتِهِ وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَرَسُولُ اللهِ لَقَدْ هَاجَرْتُ إِلَى اللهِ ثُمَّ إِلَيْكُمُ الْمَحْيَا مَحْيَاكُمْ وَالْمَمَاتُ مَمَاتُكُمْ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فَرَأَيْتُ الشِّيُوخَ يَبْكُونَ حَتَّى بَلَّ الدُّمُوعُ لِحَاهُمْ ثُمَّ قَالُوا مَعْذِرَةً إِلَى اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَاللهِ مَا قُلْنَا إِلَّا ضَنًّا بِاللهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ اللهَ قَدْ صَدَقَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُ وَقَبِلَ قَوْلَكُمْ»

"عَنْ هِشَام بْن زَيْد، عَنْ أنَسٍ قَالَ: لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ حُنَيْنٍ جَمَعَتْ هَوَازِنُ وَغَطَفَانُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِى عَشَرَةِ آلافٍ وَأكْثَرَ مِنْ عَشَرَةِ آلاف وَمَعَهُ الطُّلَقَاءُ، فَجَاءُوا بِالنَّقْدِ والذرَيَة فَجُعلُوا خَلفَ ظُهُورِهِمْ، فَلَمَّا التَقَوْا وَلَّى الناسُ، وَالنَبِي ﷺ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَى بَغْلَة بَيْضَاءَ، فَنَزَلَ فَقَالَ: إِنِّى عَبْدُ الله وَرَسُولُهُ، وَنَادَى يَوْمَئِذٍ ندَاءين لَمْ يَخْلِطْ بَيْنَهُمَا كَلاَم، فَالتَفَتَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَقَالَ: أىْ مَعْشَرَ الأنْصارِ، فَقَالُوا: لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ الله نَحْنُ مَعَكَ، ثمَّ التَفَتَ عَنْ يَسَارِه فَقَالَ: أىْ مَعْشَرَ الأنصَارِ، فَقَالُوا: لَبَّيْكَ يَا رسُول الله نَحْنُ مَعَكَ، ثمَّ نَزَلَ إِلَى الأرْضِ فَالتَقَوْا فَهَزَمُوا وَأصَابُوا مِنَ الغَنَائِم فَأعْطَى النبي ﷺ الطُّلَقَاء وقسم، فَقَالَتِ الأنْصَارُ: ندْعَى عِنْدَ الشّدَّةِ وَتُقْسَمُ الغَنِيمَةُ لِغَيْرِنَا! ! فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النبيَّ ﷺ فَجَمَعَهُمْ وَقَعَدَ فِى قُبَّة فَقَالَ: أىْ مَعْشَرَ الأنْصَارِ: مَا حَدِيثٌ بَلَغَنِى عَنْكُمْ؟ فَسَكَتُوا، يَا مَعْشَرَ الأنْصَارِ: لَوْ أن النَّاس سَلَكُوا وسَلَكَتِ الأنْصارُ شِعْبًا لأخَذْتُ شعبَ الأنصَارِ، ثمَّ قَالَ: ألاَ تَرْضَوْنَ أنْ يَذْهَبَ النَّاسُ بِالدُّنْيَا وَتَذْهَبُونَ بِرَسُولِ الله ﷺ تَحُوزوُنَهُ إِلَى بُيُوتِكُمْ؟ قَالُوا: رَضينَا رَضَينَا يَا رَسُولَ الله، قَالَ هِشَامُ بنُ زَيْدٍ: قُلتُ لأنَسٍ: وَكنتَ () شَاهِدَ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ: وَأيْنَ اعينا ( *) عَنْ ذَلِكَ".
