The Prophet ﷺ said, "The righteous (pious people will depart (die) in succession one after the other, and there will remain (on the earth) useless people like the useless husk of barley seeds or bad dates.

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَذْهَبُ الصَّالِحُونَ الأَوَّلُ فَالأَوَّلُ وَيَبْقَى حُفَالَةٌ كَحُفَالَةِ الشَّعِيرِ أَوِ التَّمْرِ لاَ يُبَالِيهِمُ اللَّهُ بَالَةً قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يُقَالُ حُفَالَةٌ وَحُثَالَةٌ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: The righteous will be taken first, and the first shall remain like the dregs of dates.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يُقْبَضُ الصَّالِحُ الْأَوَّلُ فَالْأَوَّلُ وَيَبْقَى كَحُثَالَةِ التَّمْرِ

[AI] The righteous are taken one by one until only the remnants of dates or barley are left. Allah does not care about them at all.

يُقْبَضُ الصَّالِحُونَ الْأَوَّلُ فَالْأَوَّلُ حَتَّى يَبْقَى كَحُثَالَةِ التَّمْرِ أَوِ الشَّعِيرِ لَا يُبَالِي اللهُ بِهِمْ شَيْئًا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The righteous will be taken first, one after another, until only remnants of dates or barley are left and no one will care about them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُقْبَضُ الصَّالِحُونَ الْأَوَّلُ فَالْأَوَّلُ حَتَّى يَبْقَى كَحُثَالَةِ التَّمْرِ أَوِ الشَّعِيرِ لَا يُبَالِي بِهِمْ شَيْئًا

This tradition has also been transmitted by Sa'd (b. Abi Waqqas) from the Prophet ﷺ in a similar manner through a different chain of narrators. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1470)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "An oath (leads to) either sin or regret. " (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2103)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «الْحَلِفُ حَنِثٌ أَوْ نَدَمٌ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The righteous will pass away one after another, and the first to pass away will be the first until there remains only a handful of worthless dates and barley. Allah will not care about them."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يُقْبَضُ الصَّالِحُونَ أَسْلَافًا وَيَفْنَى الصَّالِحُونَ الْأَوَّلُ فَالْأَوَّلُ حَتَّى لَا يَبْقَى إِلَّا مِثْلُ حُثَالَةِ التَّمْرِ وَالشَّعِيرِ لَا يُبَالِي اللَّهُ بِهِمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The righteous will depart in groups until only remnants remain, like the remnants of dates and barley, and Allah will not care about them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَذْهَبُ الصَّالِحُونَ أَسْلَافًا حَتَّى لَا يَبْقَى إِلَّا حُثَالَةٌ كَحُثَالَةِ التَّمْرِ وَالشَّعِيرِ لَا يُبَالِي اللهُ بِهِمْ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "The righteous will depart in succession, and the righteous will be held back one after another until only the scum remains, like the scum of dates and barley. Allah does not care for them."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يَذْهَبُ الصَّالِحُونَ أَسْلَافًا وَيُقْبَضُ الصَّالِحُونَ الْأَوَّلَ فَالْأَوَّلَ حَتَّى تَبْقَى حُثَالَةٌ كَحُثَالَةِ التَّمْرِ وَالشَّعِيرِ لَا يُبَالِي اللهُ بِهِمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The righteous will go in groups."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَذْهَبُ الصَّالِحُونَ أَسْلَافًا»

[AI] I heard from the Messenger of Allah: "The righteous will disappear like the first fruits of a harvest, and only the scum will remain, like the scum of dates and barley. Allah will not care about them."

سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ «يَذْهَبُ الصَّالِحُونَ أَسْلَافًا وَتَبْقَى حُثَالَةٌ كَحُثَالَةِ التَّمْرِ وَالشَّعِيرِ لَا يُبَالِي اللهُ بِهِمْ»

"يَذْهَبُ الصَّالِحُونَ أَسْلافًا، الأَوَّل فَالأَوَّل حَتَّى لا يَبْقَى إِلا حُثَالَةٌ كَحُثَالَةِ التَّمْرِ وَالشَّعِيرِ، لا يُبَالِى اللَّهُ بِهِمْ".

"عَنْ مِرْدَاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ أبُو بَكْرٍ: يُقْبَضُ الصَّالِحُونَ الأَوَّل فَالأَوَّل، حَتَّى يَبْقَى مِنَ النَّاسِ حُثَالةٌ كحُثَالَةِ التَّمْرِ وَالشَّعِيرِ، لَا يُبَالِى الله بِهِمْ".
