A tailor invited Messenger of Allah ﷺ to a meal which he had prepared. I went along with Messenger of Allah ﷺ and saw him seeking to eat the pieces of gourd from the various sides of the dish. Since that day I have liked to eat gourd. ʿUmar bin Abi Salama said: The Prophet, said to me, "Eat with your right hand."

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ إِنَّ خَيَّاطًا دَعَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِطَعَامٍ صَنَعَهُ قَالَ أَنَسٌ فَذَهَبْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَتَتَبَّعُ الدُّبَّاءَ مِنْ حَوَالَىِ الْقَصْعَةِ قَالَ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أُحِبُّ الدُّبَّاءَ مِنْ يَوْمِئِذٍ

A tailor invited the Prophet ﷺ to a meal which he had prepared, and I went along with the Prophet ﷺ . The tailor presented barley bread and soup containing gourd and cured meat. I saw the Prophet ﷺ picking the pieces of gourd from around the dish, and since then I have kept on liking gourd.

أَنَّ خَيَّاطًا دَعَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لِطَعَامٍ صَنَعَهُ فَذَهَبْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَرَّبَ خُبْزَ شَعِيرٍ وَمَرَقًا فِيهِ دُبَّاءٌ وَقَدِيدٌ فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَتَتَبَّعُ الدُّبَّاءَ مِنْ حَوَالَىِ الْقَصْعَةِ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أُحِبُّ الدُّبَّاءَ بَعْدَ يَوْمِئِذٍ

I heard Anas bin Malik saying, "A tailor invited Messenger of Allah ﷺ to a meal which he had prepared. " Anas bin Malik said, "I accompanied Messenger of Allah ﷺ to that meal. He served the Prophet ﷺ with bread and soup made with gourd and dried meat. I saw the Prophet ﷺ taking the pieces of gourd from the dish." Anas added, "Since that day I have continued to like gourd."

He presented to Messenger of Allah ﷺ barley bread and soup containing pumpkin, and sliced pieces of meat. Anas said: I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ going after the pumpkin round the dish, so I have always liked the pumpkin since that day.

Yahya related to me from Malik that Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talha heard Anas ibn Malik say that a certain tailor invited the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to eat some food which he had prepared. Anas said, "I went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to eat the food. He served barley bread and a soup with pumpkin in it. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ going after the pumpkin around the dish, so I have always liked pumpkin since that day."
