Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Gabriel read the Qur'an to me in one way (i.e. dialect) and I continued asking him to read it in different ways till he read it in seven different ways."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَقْرَأَنِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَى حَرْفٍ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أَسْتَزِيدُهُ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ  

Gabriel taught me to recite in one style. I replied to him and kept asking him to give more (styles), till he reached seven modes (of recitation). Ibn Shibab said: It has reached me that these seven styles are essentially one, not differing about what is permitted and what is forbidden.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَقْرَأَنِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ عَلَى حَرْفٍ فَرَاجَعْتُهُ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أَسْتَزِيدُهُ فَيَزِيدُنِي حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ تِلْكَ السَّبْعَةَ الأَحْرُفَ إِنَّمَا هِيَ فِي الأَمْرِ الَّذِي يَكُونُ وَاحِدًا لاَ يَخْتَلِفُ فِي حَلاَلٍ وَلاَ حَرَامٍ  

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Gabriel recited the Qur'an to me in one way. Then I requested him (to read it in another way), and continued asking him to recite it in other ways, and he recited it in several ways till he ultimately recited it in seven different ways." أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَقْرَأَنِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَى حَرْفٍ فَرَاجَعْتُهُ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أَسْتَزِيدُهُ وَيَزِيدُنِي حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ  

[Machine] Narrated by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said: Gabriel recited to me a letter and I reviewed it repeatedly, and I never cease to increase it, and it continues to increase me until it reached seven letters.  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَقْرَأَنِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَى حَرْفٍ فَرَاجَعْتُهُ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أَسْتَزِيدُهُ وَيَزِيدُنِي فَانْتَهَى إِلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Gabriel recited the Quran to me, and I reviewed it with him. I continued to do so and he increased my understanding, until it reached seven verses. Al-Zuhri said, 'These seven verses are not disputed in terms of what is permissible and what is forbidden.'"  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَقْرَأَنِي جَبْرَائِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَى حَرْفٍ فَرَاجَعْتُهُ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أَسْتَزِيدُهُ وَيَزِيدُنِي حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ وَإِنَّمَا هَذِهِ الْأَحْرُفُ فِي الْأَمْرِ الْوَاحِدِ لَيْسَ يُخْتَلَفُ فِي حَلَالٍ وَلَا حَرَامٍ  

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Gabriel read the Qur'an to me in one way (i.e. dialect) and I continued asking him to read it in different ways till he read it in seven different ways." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3219)   

"اقْرَأَنِى جِبْريلُ القرآن عَلَى حَرْفٍ، فَرَاجَعْتُهُ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أستزيدهُ فيزيدُنى حتى انْتهى إلى سبعةٍ أحرفٍ ".
