ʿAbdullah bin Abi ʿAufa wrote and I read what he wrote that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you face them ( i.e. your enemy) then be patient."  

البخاري:٢٨٣٣ – حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ سَالِمٍ أَبِي النَّضْرِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى كَتَبَ فَقَرَأْتُهُ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فَاصْبِرُوا

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Do not wish to meet the enemy, but when you meet face) the enemy, be patient."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ تَمَنَّوْا لِقَاءَ الْعَدُوِّ فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فَاصْبِرُوا  

muslim:1741 – al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī al-Ḥulwānī And ʿAbd b. Ḥumayd > Abū ʿĀmir al-ʿAqadī > al-Mughīrah Wahū Ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥman al-Ḥizāmī > Abū al-Zinād > al-Aʿraj > Abū Hurayrah

Do not desire an encounter with the enemy; but when you encounter them, be firm.
