In the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the sun eclipsed and he went out dragging his clothes till he reached the Mosque. The people gathered around him and he led them and offered two rakʿat. When the sun (eclipse) cleared, he said, "The sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse because of the death of someone, and so when an eclipse occurs, pray and invoke Allah till the eclipse is over." It happened that a son of the Prophet ﷺ called Ibrahim died on that day and the people were talking about that (saying that the eclipse was caused by his death).

We were with Messenger of Allah ﷺ when the sun eclipsed. Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up dragging his cloak till he entered the Mosque. He led us in a two-rakʿat prayer till the sun (eclipse) had cleared. Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of someone's death. So whenever you see these eclipses pray and invoke (Allah) till the eclipse is over."

"We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when the sun became eclipsed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out dragging his garment, until he came to the masjid, and the people gathered around him. He led us in praying two rak'ahs and when (the eclipse) ended he said: 'The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah (SWT) by means of which Allah (SWT), the Mighty and Sublime, strikes fear into His slaves. They do not become eclipsed for the death or birth of anyone. If you see that, then pray until Allah (SWT)r relieves you of fear.' That was because his son named Ibrahim had died, and the people suggested to him that (the eclipse) happened because of that."

[Machine] The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , so he quickly got up and rushed to the mosque. The people followed him, and he performed two units of prayer. Afterwards, he turned to us and said, "Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs from the signs of Allah, and by them, Allah frightens His servants. They do not eclipse for the death of anyone. His son, Ibrahim, passed away. So, when you see an eclipse, pray and supplicate to Allah until what is troubling you is removed."

[Machine] We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when the sun was eclipsed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up in fear, dragging his garment until he entered the mosque and performed two units of prayer. He continued to pray until the eclipse passed, and this occurred at the time of the death of Ibrahim, the son of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The people said, "The sun was eclipsed due to the death of Ibrahim." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O people, the sun and the moon are signs of Allah's creation. They do not eclipse for the death of anyone. So when you see an eclipse, supplicate to Allah until it clears."
