[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delayed the last night's prayer until almost one-third of the night had passed or even closer. Then, he came and found the people restless and worried. He became extremely angry and said, "If a man were to call the people to defend their homesteads with armor or swords, they would respond to his call, while they are leaving this prayer. I had considered ordering a man to lead the people in prayer and then burn their houses over them with fire."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَخَّرَ الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ حَتَّى كَادَ يَذْهَبُ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ قُرَابُهُ قَالَ ثُمَّ جَاءَ وَفِي النَّاسِ رِقَّةٌ وَهُمْ عِزُونَ فَغَضِبَ غَضَبًا شَدِيدًا ثُمَّ قَالَ لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا نَدَبَ النَّاسَ إِلَى عَرْقٍ أَوْ مِرْمَاتَيْنِ لَأَجَابُوا لَهُ وَهُمْ يَتَخَلَّفُونَ عَنْ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةِ لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ آمُرَ رَجُلًا فَيَتَخَلَّفَ عَلَى أَهْلِ هَذِهِ الدُّورِ الَّذِينَ يَتَخَلَّفُونَ عَنْ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةِ فَأُحَرِّقَهَاعَلَيْهِمْ بِالنِّيرَانِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delayed the Isha prayer on one night until almost one-third of the night had passed or close to it. He came (to the mosque) and found the people reclining and dozing off, some even sleeping. He became angry and said, "If a man among you calls the people for prayer and leads them in prayer, it would be better. And if a man among you were to lead the people in prayer and then go to his family and find them sleeping, he should set fire to their houses with fire."

أَخَّرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ حَتَّى كَادَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ قَرِيبُهُ فَجَاءَ وَفِي النَّاسُ رُقَّودٌ وَهُمْ عِزُونَ وَهُمْ حِلَقٌ فَغَضِبَ فَقَالَ لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا ناَدَى النَّاسَ وَقَالَ عَمْرٌو نَدَبَ النَّاسَ إِلَى عَرْقٍ أَوْ مِرْمَاتَيْنِ لَأَجَابُوا إِلَيْهِ وَهُمْ يَتَخَلَّفُونَ عَنْ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةِ لَهَمَمْتُ أَنْ آمُرَ رَجُلًا يُصَلِّيَ بِالنَّاسِ ثُمَّ أَتَخَلَّفَ عَلَى أَهْلِ هَذِهِ الدُّورِ الَّذِينَ يَتَخَلَّفُونَ عَنْ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةِ فَأُضْرِمَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ بِالنِّيرَانِ
