[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ had a gold ring brought to him, so he put it on his right hand and made a mark on it from the part that was below his palm. People then started wearing gold rings. When he saw that, he took off the ring and said, "I will never wear it again," and he replaced it with a ring made of silver.  

البيهقي:٧٥٦٢أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ثنا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَتَى بِخَاتَمٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَجَعَلَهُ فِي يَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَجَعَلَ فَصَّهُ مِمَّا يَلِي كَفَّهُ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ نَزَعَهُ فَقَالَ لَا أَلْبَسُهُ أَبَدًا فَاتَّخَذَهُ مِنْ وَرِقٍ
