[Machine] About the testimony of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Friday, Ibn Shihab said, "Verily, all praise is due to Allah, we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Him from the evil within ourselves. Whoever Allah guides, no one can lead astray, and whoever is led astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, and Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. He sent him with the truth as a bringer of good tidings and a Warner before the Hour. Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has indeed been guided, and whoever turns away has only caused loss to himself. We ask Allah, our Lord, to make us among those who obey Him and His Messenger, to follow His pleasure, and to avoid His anger. Indeed, we are with Him and for Him." Ibn Shihab said, "We have also heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that whenever he delivered a sermon, everything that was promised was near and there was no delay to what was promised. Allah does not hasten anything for anyone, nor does He delay anything for the sake of people's desires. People may desire something, but Allah desires something else. Whatever Allah wills happens, and if people dislike it, it will not be averted, and if people desire it, it will not be achieved unless by the permission of Allah." Ibn Shihab also said, "Umar ibn Al-Khattab used to say in his sermons, 'Success is for those who are protected from desires, greed, and anger, and there is nothing better in terms of speech than truth. Whoever lies causes trouble, and whoever causes trouble destroys you. The ultimate ruin of a person is his transgression. He was created from dust and will return to dust. Today he is alive, but tomorrow he will be dead. Do deeds day by day, and beware of the supplication of the oppressed. Consider yourselves among the dead."
