[Machine] Salman arrived with twelve passengers from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ for the prayer. They said, "Come forward, O Abu Abdullah." He said, "We will not lead you in prayer or marry your women. Allah has guided us through you." Then, a man from the group came forward and led us in prayer four cycles. Salman said, "We do not have to complete the prayer, as half of it would be sufficient for us. We are in need of leniency." Salman, the Persian, explained to the companions through this incident that shortening the prayer during travel is permissible with the permission and guidance from Allah. It was narrated from Maswari ibn Makhrama and Abdullah ibn Aswad ibn Abd Yaghuth that they used to complete the prayer while traveling. It was also narrated that the permissibility of both matters was mentioned by Sa'id ibn Musayyib and Abu Qilabah.
