[Machine] The action of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , was mentioned. She said, "The most beloved action to him was being consistent." I said, "At what time would he stand?" She said, "Whenever he would hear the crowing of the rooster." Abu Dawood said, "She means the call to dawn prayer."
عَمَلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ كَانَ أَحَبُّ الْعَمَلِ إِلَيْهِ الدَّائِمَ قُلْتُ فَأِيُّ حِينٍ كَانَ يَقُومُ؟ قَالَتْ كَانَ إِذَا سَمِعَ الصَّارِخَ قَامَ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ تَعْنِي الدِّيكَ
I asked ʿAisha "What deed was the most beloved to the Prophet?" She said, "The regular constant one." I said, "At what time did he use to get up at night (for the Tahajjud night prayer)?' She said, "He used to get up on hearing (the crowing of) the cock (the last third of the night).
سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ ؓ أَىُّ الْعَمَلِ كَانَ أَحَبَّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتِ الدَّائِمُ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَأَىَّ حِينٍ كَانَ يَقُومُ قَالَتْ كَانَ يَقُومُ إِذَا سَمِعَ الصَّارِخَ
He (the Holy Prophet) loved (that action) which one keeps on doing regularly. I said (to 'A'isha): When did he pray (at night)? She replied: When he heard the cock crow, he got up and observed prayer.
عَنْ عَمَلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ كَانَ يُحِبُّ الدَّائِمَ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَىَّ حِينٍ كَانَ يُصَلِّي فَقَالَتْ كَانَ إِذَا سَمِعَ الصَّارِخَ قَامَ فَصَلَّى
"I said to 'Aishah: 'Which deed was most beloved to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' She said: 'That which was done persistently.' I said: 'At what part of the night did he pray Qiyam?' She said: 'When he heard the rooster.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1616)
