[Machine] I said to Ibn Abbas, "I am a fast reader. I read the Quran in three nights." He said, "I would prefer that you read Surah Al-Baqarah in one night, contemplating its meaning and reciting it slowly, as it is dearer to me."  

البيهقي:٤٠٦٠ – وَأنبأ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أنبأ أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ قَالَ

قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ إِنِّي سَرِيعُ الْقِرَاءَةِ إِنِّي أَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ فِي ثَلَاثٍ قَالَ لَأَنْ أَقْرَأَ الْبَقَرَةَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ فَأَتَدَّبَّرَهَا وَأُرَتِّلَهَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ أَنْ أَقَرَأَهَا كَمَا تَقْرَأُ

قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ إِنِّي سَرِيعُ الْقِرَاءَةِ إِنِّي أَهُذُّ الْقُرْآنَ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ لَأَنْ أَقْرَأَ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ فَأُرَتِّلُهَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ كُلَّهُ هَذْرَمَةً
