[Machine] I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ while he was performing ablution and water was flowing from his face and beard onto his chest. I saw him rinsing between gargling and sniffing water into his nose. Abu Dawud mentioned in another hadith from Al-Laith ibn Abi Sulaim from Talhah ibn Musarif from his father from his grandfather about ablution. Musaddad reported this to Yahya, meaning Al-Qattan, and he disapproved of it. Abu Dawud said, "I heard Ahmad say that Ibn 'Uyaynah disapproved of it and said, 'What is this? Talhah ibn Musarif from his father and his grandfather?' And Abu 'Abdullah Al-Hafith informed us, and Abu Al-Hasan Ahmad ibn Muhammad Al-Tarayfi informed us, saying, 'I heard 'Uthman ibn Sa'id Al-Darimi saying, 'I heard 'Ali ibn 'Abdullah Al-Madinī saying, I said to Sufyan, "Laith reported from Talhah ibn Musarif from his father from his grandfather that he saw the Prophet ﷺ performing ablution, and Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah disapproved of it." 'Ali said, "I asked 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi about the genealogy of Talhah's grandfather, and he said, "Umru ibn Ka'b or Ka'b ibn 'Amr, and he had companions who testified to his character." And Abu 'Abdullah Al-Hafith informed us, and Abu Al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub reported to us, and 'Abbas ibn Muhammad Al-Duri said, "I said to Yahya ibn Ma'in, 'Did the Prophet ﷺ see his grandfather?' And Yahya said, 'The narrators say that he did, and the family of Talhah says that he did not have companionship.'"

دَخَلْتُ يَعْنِي عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَتَوَضَّأُ وَالْمَاءُ يَسِيلُ مِنْ وَجْهِهِ وَلِحْيَتِهِ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَ الْمَضْمَضَةِ وَالِاسْتِنْشَاقِ وَقَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ فِي حَدِيثٍ آخَرَ لِلَّيْثِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمٍ عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ مُصَرِّفٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ فِي الْوُضُوءِ قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ فَحَدَّثْتُ بِهِ يَحْيَى يَعْنِي الْقَطَّانَ فَأَنْكَرَهُ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ سَمِعْتُ أَحْمَدَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ ابْنَ عُيَيْنَةَ كَانَ يُنْكِرُهُ وَيَقُولُ أَيْشْ هَذَا طَلْحَةُ بْنُ مُصَرِّفٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْحَسَنِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الطَّرَائِفِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيَّ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمَدِينِيَّ يَقُولُ قُلْتُ لِسُفْيَانَ إِنَّ لَيْثًا رَوَى عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ مُصَرِّفٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ تَوَضَّأَ فَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ سُفْيَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُيَيْنَةَ وَعَجِبَ أَنْ يَكُونَ جَدُّ طَلْحَةَ لَقِيَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ وَسَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ نَسَبِ جَدِّ طَلْحَةَ فَقَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ كَعْبٍ أَوْ كَعْبُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو وَكَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ وَقَالَ غَيْرُهُ عَمْرُو بْنُ كَعْبٍ لَمْ يُشَكَّ فِيهِ وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِيَحْيَى بْنِ مَعِينٍ طَلْحَةُ بْنُ مُصَرِّفٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ رَأَى جَدُّهُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ؟ فَقَالَ يَحْيَى الْمُحَدِّثُونَ يَقُولُونَ قَدْ رَآهُ وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِ طَلْحَةَ يَقُولُونَ لَيْسَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ

[Machine] He was asked while on the pulpit about a man who divorced his wife three times, then someone else married her, closed the door, removed the veil, and revealed her face, then divorced her. He said, "She is not permissible for the first man until the other man tastes her honey." This is the wording of the Hadith of Al-'Abdiyy. Al-'Abdiyy also said it in his narration, as did Abu Ahmad Al-Zubayri. The authentic narration is from 'Abd Al-Rahman bin Mahdi, and it was narrated by Waki' once from Sufyan, who narrated from 'Alqamah, from Razeen bin Sulaiman Al-Ahmarri. He was contradicted by Shu'bah in his chain of narrators, so he narrated it from 'Alqamah bin Marthad, from Salim bin Razeen, from Salim bin 'Abdullah, from Sa'id bin Al-Musayyib, from Ibn 'Umar. The Prophet informed us of this and it was narrated by Abu 'Abdullah Al-Hafiz and Abu Bakr Ahmad bin Al-Hasan. They said, "Abu Al-Abbas Muhammad bin Ya'qub informed us, Muhammad bin Ishaq informed me, and I am the successor of Yahya bin Ma'in." They said, "Ghandar informed us, Shu'bah mentioned it to us, and I received it from Muhammad bin Isma'il Al-Bukhari that he weakened the Hadith of Shu'bah and Sufyan together. And Abi Zar'ah said that the Hadith of Sufyan is the most authentic."
