Uthman said: "Again, while he was on the pulpit, O people, I have spoken to you about this dice and I have not seen you removing it. And I had intended to order the gathering of firewood and then send it to the houses of those who have it, and burn it on them."  

أَنَّهَا فِي بُيُوتِ نَاسٍ مِنْكُمْ فَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِي بَيْتِهِ فَلْيَحْرِقْهَا أَوْ فَلْيَكْسِرْهَا قَالَ عُثْمَانُ ؓ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي قَدْ كَلَّمْتُكُمْ فِي هَذَا النَّرْدِ وَلَمْ أَرَكُمْ أَخْرَجْتُمُوهَا وَلَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ آمُرَ بِحِزَمِ الْحَطَبِ ثُمَّ أُرْسِلَ إِلَى بُيُوتِ الَّذِينَ هِيَ فِي بُيُوتِهِمْ فَأُحَرِّقَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ
