We reached Khaibar early in the morning and the inhabitants of Khaibar came out carrying their spades, and when they saw the Prophet ﷺ they said, "Muhammad! By Allah! Muhammad and his army!" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allahu-Akbar! Khaibar is destroyed, for whenever we approach a (hostile) nation (to fight) then evil will be the morning for those who have been warned." We then got the meat of donkeys (and intended to eat it), but an announcement was made by the announcer of the Prophet, "Allah and His Apostle forbid you to eat the meat of donkeys as it is an impure thing."

صَبَّحْنَا خَيْبَرَ بُكْرَةً فَخَرَجَ أَهْلُهَا بِالْمَسَاحِي فَلَمَّا بَصُرُوا بِالنَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالُوا مُحَمَّدٌ وَاللَّهِ مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْخَمِيسُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ خَرِبَتْ خَيْبَرُ إِنَّا إِذَا نَزَلْنَا بِسَاحَةِ قَوْمٍ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ فَأَصَبْنَا مِنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ فَنَادَى مُنَادِي النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يَنْهَيَانِكُمْ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ فَإِنَّهَا رِجْسٌ

The Prophet ﷺ reached Khaibar in the morning, while the people were coming out carrying their spades over their shoulders. When they saw him they said, "This is Muhammad and his army! Muhammad and his army!" So, they took refuge in the fort. The Prophet ﷺ raised both his hands and said, "Allahu Akbar, Khaibar is ruined, for when we approach a nation (i.e. enemy to fight) then miserable is the morning of the warned ones." Then we found some donkeys which we (killed and) cooked: The announcer of the Prophet ﷺ announced: "Allah and His Apostle forbid you to eat donkey's meat." So, all the pots including their contents were turned upside down.

صَبَّحَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ خَيْبَرَ وَقَدْ خَرَجُوا بِالْمَسَاحِي عَلَى أَعْنَاقِهِمْ فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ قَالُوا هَذَا مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْخَمِيسُ مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْخَمِيسُ فَلَجَئُوا إِلَى الْحِصْنِ فَرَفَعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَدَيْهِ وَقَالَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ خَرِبَتْ خَيْبَرُ إِنَّا إِذَا نَزَلْنَا بِسَاحَةِ قَوْمٍ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ وَأَصَبْنَا حُمُرًا فَطَبَخْنَاهَا فَنَادَى مُنَادِي النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يَنْهَيَانِكُمْ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ فَأُكْفِئَتِ الْقُدُورُ بِمَا فِيهَا

Messenger of Allah ﷺ reached Khaibar in the early morning and the people of Khaibar came out with their spades, and when they saw the Prophet ﷺ they said, "Muhammad and his army!" and returned hurriedly to take refuge in the fort. The Prophet ﷺ raised his hands and said, "Allah is Greater! Khaibar is ruined ! If we approach a nation, then miserable is the morning of those who are warned."

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ؓ يَقُولُ صَبَّحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَيْبَرَ بُكْرَةً وَقَدْ خَرَجُوا بِالْمَسَاحِي فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ قَالُوا مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْخَمِيسُ وَأَحَالُوا إِلَى الْحِصْنِ يَسْعَوْنَ فَرَفَعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَدَيْهِ وَقَالَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ خَرِبَتْ خَيْبَرُ إِنَّا إِذَا نَزَلْنَا بِسَاحَةِ قَوْمٍ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ

"The Messenger of Allah reached Khaibar in the morning, and they came out to us carrying their shovels. When they saw us they said: 'Muhammad and the army!' And they rushed back inot the fortress. The Messenger of Allah raised his hands, then he said: ' Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Khaibar is destroyed. Verily, when we descend in field of a people (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! Acquired some donkeys there and we cooked the., Then the caller of the Prophet called out: 'Allah and His Messenger forbid you to eat the flesh of donkeys, for it is an abomination."'

صَبَّحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَيْبَرَ فَخَرَجُوا إِلَيْنَا وَمَعَهُمُ الْمَسَاحِي فَلَمَّا رَأَوْنَا قَالُوا مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْخَمِيسُ وَرَجَعُوا إِلَى الْحِصْنِ يَسْعَوْنَ فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ خَرِبَتْ خَيْبَرُ إِنَّا إِذَا نَزَلْنَا بِسَاحَةِ قَوْمٍ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ فَأَصَبْنَا فِيهَا حُمُرًا فَطَبَخْنَاهَا فَنَادَى مُنَادِي النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ ﷻ وَرَسُولَهُ يَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ فَإِنَّهَا رِجْسٌ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Humayd at-Tawil from Anas ibn Malik that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to Khaybar, he arrived there at night, and when he came upon a people by night, he did not attack until morning. In the morning, the jews came out with their spades and baskets. When they saw him, they said, "Muhammad! By Allah, Muhammad and his army!" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said "Allah is greater! Khaybar is destroyed. When we come to a people, it is an evil morning for those who have been warned . "

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ حِينَ خَرَجَ إِلَى خَيْبَرَ أَتَاهَا لَيْلاً وَكَانَ إِذَا أَتَى قَوْمًا بِلَيْلٍ لَمْ يُغِرْ حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ فَخَرَجَتْ يَهُودُ بِمَسَاحِيهِمْ وَمَكَاتِلِهِمْ فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ قَالُوا مُحَمَّدٌ وَاللَّهِ مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْخَمِيسُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ خَرِبَتْ خَيْبَرُ إِنَّا إِذَا نَزَلْنَا بِسَاحَةِ قَوْمٍ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ set out to Khaibar in the morning, and they met with the Masahi tribe. When they saw him, they said, "Muhammad and Al-Khamis are here, Muhammad and Al-Khamis." Then they began to advance towards the fortress. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands and then said Allahu Akbar three times. He said, "Khaibar is destroyed. When we descend upon a nation's territory, it is a misfortune for the warners (i.e., the enemies). Indeed, we have caused red camels to retreat from the village and we have fattened them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah and His Messenger forbid you from domestic red camels, for they are impure and from the work of Satan."

صَبَّحَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ خَيْبَرَ بُكْرَةً وَقَدْ خَرَجُوا بِالْمَسَاحِي فَلَمَّا نَظَرُوا إِلَيْهِ قَالُوا مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْخَمِيسُ مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْخَمِيسُ ثُمَّ أَحَالُوا يَسْعَوْنَ إِلَى الْحِصْنِ وَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ خَرِبَتْ خَيْبَرُ إِنَّا إِذَا نَزَلْنَا بِسَاحَةِ قَوْمٍ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ فَأَصَبْنَا حُمُرًا خَارِجَةً مِنَ الْقَرْيَةِ فَاطَّبَخْنَاهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ وَرَسُولَهُيَنْهَيَانِكُمْ عَنِ الْحُمُرِ الْأَهْلِيَّةِ فَإِنَّهَا رِجْسٌ مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ

[Machine] I heard Anas ibn Malik saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ attacked Khaybar in the morning, while they had already gone out for their work in the fields. When they saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, they said, 'Muhammad and the group have come.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands and said, 'Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest)! Khaybar is destroyed. Whenever we descend upon a nation's territory, then the morning of those who are warned will be severe.'"

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ صَبَّحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَيْبَرَ بُكْرَةً وَقَدْ خَرَجُوا بِالْمَسَاحِي فَلَمَّا نَظَرُوا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالُوا مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْخَمِيسُ فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَدَيْهِ وَقَالَ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ خَرِبَتْ خَيْبَرُ إِنَّا إِذَا نَزَلْنَا بِسَاحَةِ قَوْمٍ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ

صَبَّحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَيْبَرَ فَخَرَجُوا إِلَيْنَا وَمَعَهُمُ الْمَسَاحِي فَلَمَّا رَأَوْنَا قَالُوا مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْخَمِيسُ وَرَجَعُوا إِلَى الْحِصْنِ يَسْعَوْنَ فَرَفَعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «اللهُ أَكْبَرُ خَرِبَتْ خَيْبَرُ إِنَّا إِذَا نَزَلْنَا بِسَاحَةِ قَوْمٍ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ فَأَصَبْنَا فِيهَا حُمُرًا فَاطَّبَخْنَاهَا» فَأَتَانَا مُنَادِي النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ فَإِنَّهَا رِجْسٌ»

The Prophet ﷺ set out for Khaibar and reached it at night. He used not to attack if he reached the people at night, till the day broke. So, when the day dawned, the Jews came out with their bags and spades. When they saw the Prophet; they said, "Muhammad and his army!" The Prophet ﷺ said, Allahu--Akbar! (Allah is Greater) and Khaibar is ruined, for whenever we approach a nation (i.e. enemy to fight) then it will be a miserable morning for those who have been warned." أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ إِلَى خَيْبَرَ فَجَاءَنَا لَيْلًا وَكَانَ إِذَا جَاءَ قَوْمًا بِاللَّيْلِ لَا يُغِيرُ عَلَيْهِمْ حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ خَرَجَتْ يَهُودُ بِمَسَاحِيهِمْ وَمَكَاتِلِهِمْ فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ قَالُوا مُحَمَّدٌ وَاللهِ مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْخَمِيسُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ خَرِبَتْ خَيْبَرُ إِنَّا إِذَا نَزَلْنَا بِسَاحَةِ قَوْمٍ {فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ} [الصافات 177]

"عن أبى طلحة، قال: كنت ردف رسول الله ﷺ يوم خيبر، فلما انتهينا وقد خرجوا بالمساحى، فلما رأونا، قالوا: محمد والله محمد، والْخَمِيس (*)، فقال رسول الله ﷺ الله أكبر، إنا إذا نزلنا بساحة قوم فساء صباح المنذرين".
