[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, Bilal calls for the prayer at night, so eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktum calls for the Fajr prayer." Ibn Shihab said: "And Ibn Umm Maktum was a blind man who did not call for the prayer until he was told that it was morning."  

البيهقي:١٧٨٤ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَقِيهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ بِالطَّابَرَانَ أنبأ أَبُو النَّضْرِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ الْفَقِيهُ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ فِيمَا قَرَأَ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ بِلَالًا يُنَادِي بِلَيْلٍ فَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يُنَادِيَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ وَكَانَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ رَجُلًا أَعْمَى لَا يُنَادِي حَتَّى يُقَالَ لَهُ أَصْبَحْتَ أَصْبَحْتَ  

رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنِ الْقَعْنَبِيِّ وَأَرْسَلَهُ الشَّافِعِيُّ وَجَمَاعَةٌ مِنَ الرُّوَاةِ عَنْ مَالِكٍ وَالْحَدِيثُ فِي الْأَصْلِ مَوْصُولٌ وَقَدْ وَصَلَهُ جَمَاعَةٌ عَنْ مَالِكٍ مِنْهُمُ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ وَرَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ وَعَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ وَكَامِلُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ وَوَصَلَهُ أَيْضًا جَمَاعَةٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Bilal calls the adhan whilst it is still night so eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktum calls the adhan."  

مالك:٣-١٥ – حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ بِلاَلاً يُنَادِي بِلَيْلٍ فَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يُنَادِيَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ  

malik:3-16 – Mālik > Ibn Shihāb > Sālim b. ʿAbdullāh

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Salim ibn Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Bilal calls the adhan in the night, so eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktum calls the adhan." Ibn Umm Maktum was a blind man who did not call the adhan until someone said to him, "The morning has come. The morning has come."  

مالك:٣-١٦ – وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ بِلاَلاً يُنَادِي بِلَيْلٍ فَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يُنَادِيَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ قَالَ وَكَانَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ رَجُلاً أَعْمَى لاَ يُنَادِي حَتَّى يُقَالَ لَهُ أَصْبَحْتَ أَصْبَحْتَ

[Machine] Narrated by Al-Qa'nabi from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Salim ibn Abdullah from his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, Bilal calls the adhan at night, so continue to eat and drink until the adhan of Ibn Umm Maktum is called." Ibn Shihab said: Ibn Umm Maktum was a blind man who would not call the adhan until it was said to him: 'You have come to the morning, you have come to the morning.'  

ابن حبّان:٣٤٦٩ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ الْجُمَحِيُّ
