Did you hear it from Muhammad ﷺ? He (Hadrat 'Ali) said: Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah; Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah; yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah.

فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مَثْدُونُ الْيَدِ لَوْلاَ أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَحَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِمَا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهُمْ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ قَالَ قُلْتُ آنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ قَالَ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ

‘Ali mentioned about the people of al Nahrawan, saying: Among them there will be a man with a defective hand or with a small hand. if you were not to overjoy. I would inform you of what Allah has promised (the reward for) those who will kill them at the tongue of Muhammad (May peace be upon him). I asked : Have you heard this from him? He replied : Yes, by the lord of the Ka’bah.

فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مَثْدُونُ الْيَدِ لَوْلاَ أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَنَبَّأْتُكُمْ مَا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهُمْ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْهُ قَالَ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ

That he mentioned the Khawarij, and said: "Among them there will be a man with a defective hand, or a short hand, or small hand. If you were to exercise restraint (i.e., not become overjoyed), I would tell you of what Allah has promised upon the lips of Muhammed for those who kill them." I ('Ubaidah) said: "Did you hear that from Muhammed?" He said: "Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah!' - three times."

فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُثْدَنُ الْيَدِ وَلَوْلاَ أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَحَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِمَا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهُمْ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ قُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ قَالَ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ

Among them is a man with a defective arm, or an incomplete arm, or a small arm. If you could exercise restraint, I would have told you what Allah promised on the lips of Muhammad ﷺ to those who kill them. I said: Did you hear that from Muhammad ﷺ? He said: Yes, by the Lord of the Kaʿbah.

فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مَثْدُونُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ لَوْلا أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَنَبَّأْتُكُمْ مَا وَعَدَ اللهُ الَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهُمْ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ لِعَلِيٍّ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ؟ قَالَ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ

‘Ali ؓ mentioned the people of an-Nahrawan. He said: Among them is a man with a defective arm, or an incomplete arm, or a small arm. If you could exercise restraint, I would have told you what Allah promised on the lips of Muhammad to those who kill them. I said: Did you hear that from him? He said: Yes, by the Lord of the Kaʿbah.

Among them is a man with a defective arm, or an incomplete arm, or a small arm. If you could exercise restraint, I would have told you what Allah promised on the lips of Muhammad ﷺ to those who kill them. I said: Did you hear him? He said: Yes, by the Lord of the Kaʿbah.

فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مَثْدُونُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ لَوْلا أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَنَبَّأْتُكُمْ مَا وَعَدَ اللهُ الَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهُمْعَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ لِعَلِيٍّ أَأَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ؟ قَالَ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ

‘Abeedah said: I only narrated what I heard from him. Muhammad said: ‘Abeedah swore to us three times and ‘Ali swore to him, saying: If you could show restraint, I would have told you what Allah has promised on the lips of Muhammad ﷺ to those who kill them. He said: Then I said: Did you hear that from him? He said: Yes, by the Lord of Ka’bah; Yes, by the Lord of Ka’bah; Yes, by the Lord of Ka’bah. Among them was a man with a deformed arm or a defective arm. I think he said: Or an incomplete arm.

مُحَمَّدٌ فَحَلَفَ لَنَا عَبِيدَةُ ثَلاثَ مِرَارٍ وَحَلَفَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ لَوْلا أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَنَبَّأْتُكُمْ مَا وَعَدَ اللهُ الَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهُمْ عَنْ لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ قَالَ قُلْتُ آنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْهُ؟ قَالَ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مَثْدُونُ الْيَدِ أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ أَوْ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿThere will emerge some people among whom is a man with a defective arm, or an incomplete arm, or a small arm.ʿ If you could exercise restraint, I would have told you what Allah promised on the lips of Muhammad ﷺ to those who kill them. ‘Abeedah said to ʿAli ؓ Did you hear that from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? He said: Yes, by the Lord of the Kaʿbah; yes, by the Lord of the Kaʿbah, yes, by the Lord of the Kaʿbah.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْرُجُ قَوْمٌ فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مَثْدُونُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ وَلَوْلا أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لانْبَأْتُكُمْ بِمَا وَعَدَ اللهُ الَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهُمْ عَلَى لِسَانِ نَبِيِّهِ ﷺ قَالَ عَبِيدَةُ قُلْتُ لِعَلِيٍّ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُمِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ

Among them is a man with a defective arm, or an incomplete arm, or a small arm. If you could exercise restraint, I would have told you what Allah promised on the lips of Muhammad ﷺ to those who kill them. I said: Did you hear that from Muhammad ﷺ? He said: Yes, by the Lord of the Kaʿbah; yes, by the Lord of the Kaʿbah; yes, by the Lord of the Kaʿbah.

فِيهِمْ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُثَدَّنُ الْيَدِ لَوْلا أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَحَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِمَا وَعَدَ اللهُ الَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهُمْ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ قُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ؟ قَالَ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ

ذَكَرَ عَلِيٌّ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ الْخَوَارِجَ فَقَالَ «فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ لَوْلَا أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَأَخْبَرْتُكُمْ بِمَا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ عَلَى لِسَانِ نَبِيِّهِ ﷺ لِمَنْ قَتَلَهُمْ» قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لِعَلِيٍّ أَسَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ «إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ»

أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَأَنْبَأْتُكُمْ مَا وَعَدَ اللهُ الَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهُمْ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ»

مَثْدُونَ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُخْدَجَ الْيَدِ لَوْلَا أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَحَدَّثْتُكُمْ مَا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ عُبَيْدَةُ فَقُلْتُ لِعَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ نا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ

"عن عبيدة: أنَّ عَلِيّا ذَكَرَ الخَوارجَ فَقالَ: فَيهم رَجُلٌ مُخْدَجُ () اليَدِ أو مُودَنُ ( *) اليَدِ، أو مَثدُونُ اليَد، لَوْلاَ أن تَبْطَرُوا لحَدَّثْتُكُمْ بمَا وَعَد الله الذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهم عَلَى لِسانِ مُحمَّدٍ، قالَ: قُلتُ: أَنتَ سَمِعتَ مِنْ مُحمَّدٍ ﷺ ؟ قال: إِى وَربِّ الكَعْبَةِ، إى وَرَبِّ الكَعْبَةِ - ثلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ - ".
