[Machine] "That they may pardon or that the one in whose hand is the marriage knot may pardon." [Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 237] He said, "I am more deserving of forgiveness than her, so he accepted her dowry.  

البيهقي:١٤٤٤٨ – وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عُبَيْدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَهْدِيٍّ الْقُشَيْرِيُّ لَفْظًا قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ أنبأ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ جُبَيْرَ بْنَ مُطْعِمٍ تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي نَصْرٍ فَسَمَّى لَهَا صَدَاقًا ثُمَّ طَلَّقَهَا مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ بِهَا فَقَرَأَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {إِلَّا

أَنْ يَعْفُونَ أَوْ يَعْفُوَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ عُقْدَةُ النِّكَاحِ} [البقرة 237] قَالَ أَنَا أَحَقُّ بِالْعَفْوِ مِنْهَا فَسَلَّمَ إِلَيْهَا صَدَاقَهَا
