Abū Bakr > Sālim b. ʿAbdullāh from his father > ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb Saʾalah Saʿd b. Abū Waqqāṣ > al-Masḥ > al-Khuffayn > ʿUmar

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanding us to wipe over the top of the socks when wearing them, as long as they are clean. Khalid ibn Abu Bakr is weak, and what has been mentioned is sufficient.  

البيهقي:١٣٩١وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْمُقْرِئُ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ سَأَلَهُ سَعْدُ بْنُ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ قَالَ عُمَرُ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْمُرُنَا بِالْمَسْحِ عَلَى ظَهْرِ الْخُفَّيْنِ إِذَا لَبِسَهُمَا وَهُمَا طَاهِرَتَانِ خَالِدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ لَيْسَ بِالْقَوِيِّ وَفِيمَا مَضَى كِفَايَةٌ
