The Prophet’s ﷺ advice to Abu Hurayrah

My friend (the Prophet ﷺ) advised me to do three things and I shall not leave them till I die: (1) to fast three days every month, (2) to offer the Duha prayer, and (3) to offer Witr before sleeping.

أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي بِثَلاَثٍ لاَ أَدَعُهُنَّ حَتَّى أَمُوتَ: (١) صَوْمِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ، (٢) وَصَلاَةِ الضُّحَى، (٣) وَنَوْمٍ عَلَى وِتْرٍ.

My Friend ﷺ instructed me in three (acts), and I would never abandon them as long as I live. (And these three things are): Three fasts during every month, the forenoon prayer, and this that I should not sleep till I have observed the Witr prayer.

أَوْصَانِي حَبِيبِي ﷺ بِثَلاَثٍ لَنْ أَدَعَهُنَّ مَا عِشْتُ بِصِيَامِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَصَلاَةِ الضُّحَى وَبِأَنْ لاَ أَنَامَ حَتَّى أُوتِرَ

"My beloved Prophet advised me to do three things which I will never give up, if Allah wills. He advised me to pray Duha, to pray Witr before sleeping, and to fast three days of each month."

أَوْصَانِي حَبِيبِي ﷺ بِثَلاَثَةٍ لاَ أَدَعُهُنَّ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَبَدًا أَوْصَانِي بِصَلاَةِ الضُّحَى وَبِالْوِتْرِ قَبْلَ النَّوْمِ وَبِصِيَامِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ

"The Messenger of Allah commanded me to pray two Rakahs of Duah,nt to sleep until after praying Witr and to fast three days of each month. (Sahih).

أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِرَكْعَتَىِ الضُّحَى وَأَنْ لاَ أَنَامَ إِلاَّ عَلَى وِتْرٍ وَصِيَامِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ

My friend (i.e. the Prophet) instructed me to observe three practices that I do not leave while traveling nor while resident, to pray two rakʿahs in the forenoon, to fast three days every month and not to sleep but after observing the witr.

أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي ﷺ بِثَلاَثٍ لاَ أَدَعُهُنَّ فِي سَفَرٍ وَلاَ حَضَرٍ رَكْعَتَىِ الضُّحَى وَصَوْمِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ وَأَنْ لاَ أَنَامَ إِلاَّ عَلَى وِتْرٍ

My friend (i.e. the Prophet) instructed me to observe three practices which I never leave: he instructed me to fast three days every month, and not to sleep but after observing the witr, and to observe supererogatory prayer in the forenoon while traveling and while resident.

أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي ﷺ بِثَلاَثٍ لاَ أَدَعُهُنَّ لِشَىْءٍ أَوْصَانِي بِصِيَامِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَلاَ أَنَامُ إِلاَّ عَلَى وِتْرٍ وَبِسُبْحَةِ الضُّحَى فِي الْحَضَرِ وَالسَّفَرِ

"The Messenger of Allah took a covenant from me for three: To not sleep except after performing Witr, to fast three days of every month, and to perform the Duha prayer."

عَهِدَ إِلَىَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ثَلاَثَةً أَنْ لاَ أَنَامَ إِلاَّ عَلَى وِتْرٍ وَصَوْمَ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَأَنْ أُصَلِّيَ الضُّحَى

"My beloved Prophet advised me to do three things which I will never give up, if Allah wills. He advised me to pray Duha, to pray Witr before sleeping, and to fast three days of each month." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2404)

أَوْصَانِي حِبِّي بِثَلَاثٍ لَا أَدَعُهُنَّ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ أَبَدًا أَوْصَانِي بِصَلَاةِ الضُّحَى وَبِالْوِتْرِ قَبْلَ النَّوْمِ وَبِصِيَامِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ

[Machine] My friend Abu Al-Qasim ﷺ advised me with three things that I never leave. They are fasting three days every month, praying Witr (an optional prayer after the Isha prayer) before sleep, and performing the ritual washing on Fridays.

أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ بِثَلَاثٍ لَا أَدَعُهُنَّ صَوْمِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَأَنْ لَا أَنَامَ إِلَّا عَلَىوِتْرٍ وَالْغُسْلِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ

[Machine] "Abu Hurairah advised me, my beloved, to fast three days every month, and to pray the Dhuha prayer. I never sleep except on my right side."

أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي بِثَلَاثٍ صَوْمِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَصَلَاةِ الضُّحَى وَلَا أَنَامُ إِلَّا عَلَى وِتْرٍ

[Machine] "He heard Abu Huraira say: My beloved Prophet ﷺ advised me with three things that I will not abandon until I die. He advised me to perform two Rak'ahs of Duha prayer, to fast three days every month, and to always sleep on my right side."

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي ﷺ بِثَلَاثٍ لَا أَدَعُهُنَّ حَتَّى أَمُوتَ أَوْصَانِي بِرَكْعَتَيِ الضُّحَى وَبِصِيَامِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَأَنْ لَا أَنَامَ إِلَّا عَلَى وِتْرٍ

أَنْ لَا أَنَامَ إِلَّا عَلَى وِتْرٍ وَصَوْمِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ وَرَكْعَتَيِ الضُّحَى

«أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِرَكْعَتَيِ الضُّحَى وَأَنْ لَا أَنَامَ إِلَّا عَلَى وِتْرٍ وَصِيَامِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ»

اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ في ثلاثة ألا أتركهن في صلاة الضحى وأن لا أنام إلا على وتر وأن أصوم ثلاثة أيام من كل شهر

"عَنْ أَبِى الدَّرْدَاءِ قَالَ: أَوْصَانِى خَليلِى ﷺ بِثَلَاثٍ لَا أَدَعُهُنَّ لِشَىْءٍ: أَوْصَانِى بِصِيامِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ، وَلَا أَنَامُ إلَّا عَلَى وِتْرٍ، وتَسبِيحَة الضُّحَى في الحَضَرِ وَالسَّفَرِ".
