ahmad:6704Hushaym > Ḥajjāj > ʿAmr b. Shuʿayb from his father from his grandfather

[Machine] Al-As ibn Wa'il had vowed during the pre-Islamic period to sacrifice a hundred camels, and Hisham ibn Al-As sacrificed his share of fifty camels. 'Amr asked the Prophet ﷺ about this, and he replied, 'As for your father, if he had affirmed monotheism, then fasting and giving charity on his behalf would benefit him.'  

أحمد:٦٧٠٤حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ

أَنَّ الْعَاصَ بْنَ وَائِلٍ نَذَرَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ أَنْ يَنْحَرَ مِائَةَ بَدَنَةٍ وَأَنَّ هِشَامَ بْنَ الْعَاصِي نَحَرَ حِصَّتَهُ خَمْسِينَ بَدَنَةً وَأَنَّ عَمْرًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ ذَلِكَ؟ فَقَالَ أَمَّا أَبُوكَ فَلَوْ كَانَ أَقَرَّ بِالتَّوْحِيدِ فَصُمْتَ وَتَصَدَّقْتَ عَنْهُ نَفَعَهُ ذَلِكَ
