The Prophet’s description in the Torah
I met Abdullah b. Amr b. al-As and said, “Tell me about the description of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Torah.” He said, “Yes, by Allah, he is indeed described in the Torah with his description in the Quran: “O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness, a bringer of good tidings, and a warner” [al-Ahzab 45], and as a protection for the unlettered. You are My servant and My messenger; I have named you al-Mutawakkil. You are not harsh, nor coarse, nor loud in the marketplaces.” Yunus said: “Nor clamorous in the marketplaces. He does not repel evil with evil, but rather pardons and forgives. He will not be taken until, through him, He sets upright the crooked religion, by their saying: There is no god except Allah, and through it He opens blind eyes, deaf ears, and covered hearts.”
Ata said: I met Kaab and asked him, and they did not differ in a single letter, except that Kab would say in his dialect: “eyes that are umuma, ears that are sumuma, and hearts that are ghulufa.” Yunus said: “ghulfa.”
