ahmad:385 – Wakīʿ > Sufyān > Abū Isḥāq > ʿAmr b. Maymūnʿan ʿUmar

The people of Jahiliyyah used not to move on from Jam’ until they said: Shine, Thabeer, so that we may move on quickly. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came, he differed from them and he used to move on from Jam’ before sunrise, like the time when people who delay Fajr usually pray.  

أحمد:٣٨٥ – حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍعَنْ عُمَرَ قَالَ

كَانَ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَا يُفِيضُونَ مِنْ جَمْعٍ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا أَشْرِقْ ثَبِيرُ كَيْمَا نُغِيرُ فَلَمَّا جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَالَفَهُمْ فَكَانَيَدْفَعُ مِنْ جَمْعٍ مِقْدَارَ صَلاةِ الْمُسْفِرِينَ بِصَلاةِ الْغَدَاةِ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ

ahmad:295 – ʿAbd al-Razzāq > al-Thawrī > Abū Isḥāq > ʿAmr b. Maymūn Qālasamiʿt ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb

l heard ʿUmar bin al Khattab say: The people of Jahiliyyah used not to move on from Jamʿ until they saw the sun shining on (the mountain of) Thabeer, and they would say: Shine Thabeer, then we will move on swiftly. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ moved on before the sun rose.  

أحمد:٢٩٥ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ

قَالَسَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ يَقُولُ كَانَ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَا يُفِيضُونَ مِنْ جَمْعٍ حَتَّى يَرَوْا الشَّمْسَ عَلَى ثَبِيرٍ وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ أَشْرِقْ ثَبِيرُ كَيْمَا نُغِيرُ فَأَفَاضَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ

[Machine] In the pre-Islamic era, people used to gather after sunrise and they used to say, "Asthiru Labariana Nughiru" which means "Sun, Rise and Illuminate us so that we may change." However, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would oppose them and he would delay offering the morning prayer until just before sunrise, like the prayer of the travelers or the prayer of the early morning.  

الدارمي:١٩٣٢ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو غَسَّانَ مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ
