ahmad:27026 – ʿAlī b. ʿĀṣim > Khālid b. Dhakwān > Saʾalt al-Rubayyiʿ b. Muʿawwidh Ibn ʿAfrāʾ > Ṣawm ʿĀshūrāʾ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of Ashura, "Who among you is fasting today?" They replied, "Some of us are fasting and some are not." He said, "Then complete the rest of your day and send food to those around the city so that they may complete their day."  

أحمد:٢٧٠٢٦ – حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ ذَكْوَانَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ الرُّبَيِّعَ بِنْتَ مُعَوِّذِ ابْنِ عَفْرَاءَ عَنْ صَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ فَقَالَتْ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ مَنْ أَصْبَحَ مِنْكُمْ صَائِمًا؟ قَالَ قَالُوا مِنَّا الصَّائِمُ وَمِنَّا الْمُفْطِرُ قَالَ فَأَتِمُّوا بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِكُمْ وَأَرْسِلُوا إِلَى مَنْ حَوْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ فَلْيُتِمُّوا بَقِيَّةَيَوْمِهِمْ

"The Messenger of Allah said on the day of Ashura: Is there anyone among you who has eaten today?' They said: Some of us are fasting and some of us are not.' He said: 'Do not eat for the rest of the day, and send word to the people of Al-Al-Arud telling them not to eat for the rest of the day."'

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ أَمِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ أَكَلَ الْيَوْمَ فَقَالُوا مِنَّا مَنْ صَامَ وَمِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَصُمْ قَالَ فَأَتِمُّوا بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِكُمْ وَابْعَثُوا إِلَى أَهْلِ الْعَرُوضِ فَلْيُتِمُّوا بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِهِمْ  

ibnmajah:1735 – Abū Bakr b. Abū Shaybah > Muḥammad b. Fuḍayl > Ḥuṣayn > al-Shaʿbī

“Has anyone among you eaten today?” We said: “Some of us have eaten and some of us have not.” He said: “Complete the rest of your day (i.e., do not eat for the rest of the day), whoever has eaten and whoever has not eaten. And send word to the people of the suburbs to complete the rest of their day.” He was referring to the people of the suburbs around Al-Madinah.  

ابن ماجة:١٧٣٥ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَيْفِيٍّ قَالَ قَالَ
