Allah replaces what you abandon for his sake with something better than it

ahmad:23074 – Wakīʿ > Sulaymān b. al-Mughīrah > Ḥumayd b. Hilāl > Abū Qatādah and Abū al-Dahmāʾ

We came upon a man from among the desert-dwellers and said, “Have you heard anything from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?” He said, “Yes, I heard him say: ‘You will not give up anything for Allah except that Allah will replace it for you with something better for you than it.’”  

أحمد:٢٣٠٧٤ – حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ وَأَبِي الدَّهْمَاءِ قَالَا

أَتَيْنَا عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ فَقُلْنَا هَلْ سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ شَيْئًا؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ «إِنَّكَ لَنْ تَدَعَ شَيْئًا لِلَّهِ إِلَّا بَدَّلَكَ اللهُ بِهِ مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنْهُ»

Allah will give you something better than what you give up out of His fear

ahmad:20739 – Ismāʿīl > Sulaymān b. al-Mughīrah > Ḥumayd b. Hilāl > Abū Qatādah and Abu al-Dahmāʾ

They used to travel frequently toward this House. They said: We came upon a man from the desert-dwellers, and the Bedouin said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took my hand and began teaching me from what Allah had taught him, and he said: “You will not give up anything out of fear of Allah except that Allah will give you something better than it.”
