ahmad:2236 – ʿAffān > Ḥammād > ʿAmmār b. Abū ʿAmmār > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] The prophet ﷺ used to give speeches to a stump before he had a pulpit. When he obtained a pulpit and turned towards it, it missed him, so he went to it and embraced it, and it calmed down. He said, "If I had not embraced it, it would have kept lamenting until the Day of Judgment."

أحمد:٢٢٣٦ – حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ إِلَى جِذْعٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَلَمَّا اتَّخَذَ الْمِنْبَرَ وَتَحَوَّلَ إِلَيْهِ حَنَّ عَلَيْهِ فَأَتَاهُ فَاحْتَضَنَهُ فَسَكَنَ قَالَ لَوْ لَمْ أَحْتَضِنْهُ لَحَنَّ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

ابن ماجة:١٤١٥ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلاَّدٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَعَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ إِلَى جِذْعٍ فَلَمَّا اتَّخَذَ الْمِنْبَرَ ذَهَبَ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَحَنَّ الْجِذْعُ فَأَتَاهُ فَاحْتَضَنَهُ فَسَكَنَ فَقَالَ لَوْ لَمْ أَحْتَضِنْهُ لَحَنَّ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

[Machine] The following passage in Arabic translates to:

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to deliver his sermons to the trunk of a date palm tree. When the minbar (pulpit) was established, he turned towards the minbar. The trunk longed for him until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ embraced it and it became quiet. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'If I had not embraced it, it would have cried until the Day of Resurrection.'"

And he said, "If I hadn't embraced it, it would have mourned until the Day of Resurrection."

الطبراني:١٢٨٤١ – حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
