[Machine] From the Prophet's companion, who said: Shu'bah or Asim reported from Abu Tamimah, who reported from a man, who reported from the Prophet that his donkey stumbled. So I said, "May the devil be cursed." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not curse the devil, for when you curse him, he becomes more arrogant. Instead, say, 'In the name of Allah,' and he will shrink until he becomes like a fly."  

أحمد:٢٠٥٩٢حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا تَمِيمَةَ يُحَدِّثُ

عَنْ رَدِيفِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَوْ قَالَ عَاصِمٌ عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ رَدِيفِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ عَثَرَ بِالنَّبِيِّ ﷺ حِمَارُهُ فَقُلْتُ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَا تَقُلْ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ فَإِنَّكَ إِذَا قُلْتَ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ تَعَاظَمَ وَقَالَ بِقُوَّتِي صَرَعْتُهُ وَإِذَا قُلْتَ بِسْمِ اللهِ تَصَاغَرَ حَتَّى يَصِيرَ مِثْلَ الذُّبَابِ

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ or someone who heard it from the Prophet ﷺ that his mount stumbled and he said, "May the devil be cursed!" Then he said, "Don't say that, for he becomes proud when you say that, until he becomes as large as a mountain and says, 'By my strength, I caused him to stumble.' But if you say 'Bismillah' (in the name of Allah), he becomes small until he becomes as small as a fly."  

أحمد:٢٣٠٩٢حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ الْهُجَيْمِيِّ

عَنْ رِدْفِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَوْ مَنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ رِدْفِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ رِدْفَهُ فَعَثَرَتْ بِهِ دَابَّتُهُ فَقَالَ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ فَقَالَ لَا تَفْعَلْ فَإِنَّهُ يَتَعَاظَمُ إِذَا قُلْتَ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى يَصِيرَ مِثْلَ الْجَبَلِ وَيَقُولُ بِقُوَّتِي صَرَعْتُهُ وَإِذَا قُلْتَ بِسْمِ اللهِ تَصَاغَرَ حَتَّى يَكُونَ مِثْلَ الذُّبَابِ

[Machine] From the companion of the Prophet ﷺ or from a man from the companion of the Prophet ﷺ , that he was riding on a donkey and stumbled. So he said (to the donkey), "May the devil be cursed!" (The Prophet) said, "Do not say, 'May the devil be cursed,' for if you say, 'May the devil be cursed,' he becomes greater. Instead, say, 'In the name of Allah,' and he will be minimized until he becomes like a fly."  

أحمد:٢٠٦٩٠حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ

عَنْ رِديفِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَوْ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ رِدْفِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَعَثَرَ فَقَالَ الَّذِي خَلْفَهُ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ فَقَالَ لَا تَقُلْ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ فَإِنَّكَ إِذَا قُلْتَ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ تَعَاظَمَ وَقَالَ بِعِزَّتِي صَرَعْتُكَ وَإِذَا قُلْتَ بِسْمِ اللهِ تَصَاغَرَ حَتَّى يَصِيرَ مِثْلَ ذُبَابٍ

[Machine] From Abu Tamimah Al-Hujaymi, who was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , he said: I was walking alongside the Prophet ﷺ on a donkey when the donkey stumbled. I exclaimed, "May Satan be cursed!" The Prophet ﷺ said to me, "Do not curse Satan when you stumble, for if you do, Satan will become more arrogant. Instead, say 'Bismillah' (in the name of Allah), and Satan will shrink until he becomes smaller than a fly."  

أحمد:٢٠٥٩١حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ

عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ الْهُجَيْمِيِّ عَمَّنْ كَانَ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ كُنْتُ رَدِيفَهُ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَعَثَرَ الْحِمَارُ فَقُلْتُ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ فَقَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَا تَقُلْ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ فَإِنَّكَ إِذَا قُلْتَ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ تَعَاظَمَ الشَّيْطَانُ فِي نَفْسِهِ وَقَالَ صَرَعْتُهُ بِقُوَّتِي فَإِذَا قُلْتَ بِسْمِ اللهِ تَصَاغَرَتْ إِلَيْهِ نَفْسُهُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ أَصْغَرَ مِنْ ذُبَابٍ

[Machine] From the rank of the messenger of Allah ﷺ , it became clear that his mount stumbled. So he said, "May Satan be cursed." The messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not say, 'May Satan be cursed,' for if you say, 'May Satan be cursed,' he becomes more arrogant. I seized him with my strength, and when the phrase 'In the name of Allah' is said, he becomes humiliated until he becomes like a fly."  

الحاكم:٧٧٩٢حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ ثَنَا أَبُو الْمُثَنَّى ثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ثَنَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ

عَنْ رَدِيفِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ عَثَرَتْ بِهِ دَابَّتُهُ فَقَالَ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَا تَقُلْ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ فَإِنَّكَ إِنْ قُلْتَ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ تَعَاظَمَ وَقَالَ بِقُوَّتِي صَرَعْتُهُ وَإِذَا قِيلَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَنَسَ حَتَّى يَصِيرَ مِثْلَ الذُّبَابِ  

هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ وَرَدِيفُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الَّذِي لَمْ يُسَمِّهِ يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ عَنْ خَالِدٍ سَمَّاهُ غَيْرُهُ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ وَالِدَ أَبِي الْمَلِيحِ بْنِ أُسَامَةَ صحيح
