ahmad:19302Ḥusayn b. Muḥammad And ʾAbū Nuʿaym al-Maʿná > Ḥaddathanāfiṭr > Abū al-Ṭufayl

[Machine] Narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib: Ali gathered the people in the field and said to them, "I call upon Allah to bear witness that every Muslim who heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Ghadir Khumm should testify to what he heard when the Messenger stood up." Thirty people stood up. Abu Nu'aym said, "Many people stood up and witnessed when he took him by the hand." He said to the people, "Do you know that I have more authority over the believers than themselves?" They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Whoever I have authority over, this Ali is also his authority. O Allah, be a friend to those who befriend him and an enemy to those who oppose him." Then I left feeling uneasy, and I met Zaid ibn Arqam and said to him, "I heard Ali say such and such." He said, "Do you deny it? I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say the same thing to him."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard saying on the day of Ghadir Khumm, "When people stood up, testifying that they heard him say, 'Do you not know that I have more authority over the believers than themselves?' They replied, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Whoever I am his master, then Ali is his master. O Allah, befriend whoever befriends him and be an enemy to whoever opposes him.' After that, I went out with something in my heart, and then I met Zaid bin Arqam and mentioned this to him. He said, 'Indeed, we have heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying the same thing to him.'"
