[Machine] Abu Rashid told us that Ammar delivered a sermon and exceeded the appropriate length in his speech. A man from the Quraysh said to him, "You have said something beneficial, but if only you had made it shorter." Ammar replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ advised against prolonging the sermon."  

أحمد:١٨٨٨٩حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو رَاشِدٍ قَالَخَطَبَنَا عَمَّارٌ فَتَجَوَّزَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ لَقَدْ قُلْتَ قَوْلًا شِفَاءً فَلَوْ أَنَّكَ أَطَلْتَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ نُطِيلَ الْخُطْبَةَ
