ahmad:1493Wakīʿ > Muḥammad b. Rāshid > Makḥūl > Saʿd b. Mālik

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, can a man be the defender of his people, even if his arrow is the same as the arrow of others?" He replied, "May your mother be bereaved of you, O son of Umm Sa'd! Are you given provision and victory except by the weak among you?"  

أحمد:١٤٩٣حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ الرَّجُلُ يَكُونُ حَامِيَةَ الْقَوْمِ أَيَكُونُ سَهْمُهُ وَسَهْمُ غَيْرِهِ سَوَاءً؟ قَالَ ثَكِلَتْكَ أُمُّكَ يَا ابْنَ أُمِّ سَعْدٍ وَهَلْ تُرْزَقُونَ وَتُنْصَرُونَ إِلا بِضُعَفَائِكُمْ
