[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If the son of Adam had a valley full of gold, he would desire another one. And if he had two valleys full of gold, he would wish for a third one. The stomach of the son of Adam will only be filled with dust (i.e., when he dies)."

أحمد:١٤٦٦٥ – حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ جَابِرًا

أَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْ كَانَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادٍ تَمَنَّى آخَرَ ؟ فَقَالَ جَابِرٌ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَوْ كَانَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادٍ مِنْ نَخْلٍ تَمَنَّى مِثْلَهُ ثُمَّ تَمَنَّى مِثْلَهُ حَتَّى يَتَمَنَّى أَوْدِيَةً وَلَا يَمْلَأُ جَوْفَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say something but I do not know if it was revealed or if he said it himself. If the son of Adam had a valley full of wealth, he would still desire a second valley, and nothing would fill the stomach of the son of Adam except dust. Allah accepts the repentance of those who repent.

أحمد:١٣٨٧٣ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَحَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ وَقَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا أَدْرِي أَشَيْءٌ أُنْزِلَ أَمْ كَانَ يَقُولُهُ لَوْ أَنَّ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَقَالَ حَجَّاجٌ لَوْ كَانَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادِيَانِ مِنْ مَالٍ لَتَمَنَّى وَادِيًا ثَالِثًا وَلَا يَمْلَأُ جَوْفَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ وَيَتُوبُ اللهُ عَلَى مَنْ تَابَ

ibnhibban:3233 – ʿUmar b. Saʿīd b. Sinān > Aḥmad b. Abū Shuʿayb al-Ḥarrānī > Mūsá b. Aʿyan > al-Aʿmash > Abū Sufyān > Jābir

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "If the son of Adam had a valley full of dates, he would wish for another similar to it, and nothing would fill the stomach of the son of Adam except dust."

ابن حبّان:٣٢٣٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي شُعَيْبٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ أَعْيَنَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَوْ كَانَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادٍ مِنْ نَخْلٍ لَتَمَنَّى إِلَيْهِ مِثْلَهُ وَلَا يَمْلَأُ جَوْفَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ»
