[Machine] We went on a raid with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and we encountered locusts, so we ate them.  

أحمد:١٤٦٤٥ – حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ

غَزَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَصَبْنَا جَرَادًا فَأَكَلْنَاهُ

“We were with Talhah bin ‘Ubaidullah ؓ and we were in ihram. We were given a bird as a gift whilst Talhah was sleeping. Some of us ate and some of us refrained and did not eat. When Talhah woke up, he approved of those who had eaten it and said: “We ate it with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 1383)  

الدارمي:١٨٧١ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ ابْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ فِي سَفَرٍ فَأُهْدِيَ لَهُ طَيْرٌ وَهُمْ مُحْرِمُونَ وَهُوَ رَاقِدٌ فَمِنَّا مَنْ أَكَلَ وَمِنَّا مَنْ تَوَرَّعَ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ طَلْحَةُ فَأَخْبَرُوهُ فَوَافََقَ مَنْ أَكَلَهُ

وَقَالَ «أَكَلْنَاهُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ»

We went on seven expeditions with Messenger of Allah ﷺ and ate locusts. (Using translation from Muslim 1952a)

ابن حبّان:٣٩٧٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ فِي الْحَجِّ وَنَحْنُ مُحْرِمُونَ فَأُهْدِيَ لَنَا طَائِرٌ وَطَلْحَةُ نَائِمٌ فَمِنَّا مَنْ أَكَلَ وَمِنَّا مَنْ تَوَرَّعَ فَلَمْ يَأْكُلْهُ فَلَمَّا اسْتَيْقَظَ طَلْحَةُ ذَكَرْنَا ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَوَفَّقَ مَنْ أَكَلَهُ

وَقَالَ «أَكَلْنَاهُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ»
