[Machine] We sent the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with three hundred riders, our commander Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah, and we camped on the coast until our supplies ran out and we resorted to eating sea animals. Then, the sea threw up a creature called al-‘Anbar, and we ate from it for half a month until our bodies became healthy. Abu Ubaidah took a rib from his own ribs, set it up, and looked at the longest camel. It passed under it, and there was a man who crossed three islands, and then three islands, and then three islands. Abu Ubaidah forbade him from doing so.

The Prophet ﷺ sent us as an army unit of three hundred warriors under the command of Abu 'Ubaida to ambush a caravan of the Quraish. But we were struck with such severe hunger that we ate the Khabt (desert bushes), so our army was called the Army of the Khabt. Then the sea threw a huge fish called Al-ʿAnbar and we ate of it for half a month and rubbed our bodies with its fat till our bodies became healthy. Then Abu Ubaida took one of its ribs and fixed it over the ground and a rider passed underneath it. There was a man amongst us who slaughtered three camels when hunger became severe, and he slaughtered three more, but after that Abu 'Ubaida forbade him to do so.

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ sent us with three hundred riders, and our leader was Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah seeking the caravan of the Quraysh. We camped on the coast until our provisions ran out, and we ate the leaves of trees. Then, the sea threw a creature called "al-'anbar" to us, and we ate from it for half a month until our bodies became healthy. Abu Ubaydah took a rib from his own body and tied it to the longest camel in the army and the tallest man carried it on his back. He passed under it and he had slaughtered three camels, then three more, until Abu Ubaydah prohibited him. Qays bin Sa'd used to narrate this hadith.
