ahmad-zuhd:881ʿAbdullāh from my father > Wakīʿ > Ismāʿīl b. Abū Khālid > ʿImrān b. Abū al-Jaʿd Wamisʿar > Maʿn b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman

[Machine] Abdullah said, "Indeed, people have excelled in their words, but whoever aligns his words with his actions, that is the one who has achieved his share. And whoever goes against his words with his actions, then he is only reproaching himself."  

الزهد لأحمد:٨٨١حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ وَمِسْعَرٍ عَنْ مَعْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ إِنَّ النَّاسَ قَدْ أَحْسَنُوا الْقَوْلَ كُلُّهُمُ فَمَنْ وَافَقَ قَوْلُهُ فِعْلَهُ فَذَاكَ الَّذِي أَصَابَ حَظَّهُ وَمَنْ خَالَفَ قَوْلُهُ فِعْلَهُ فَإِنَّمَا يُوَبِّخُ نَفْسَهُ

"عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: إنَّ النَّاسَ كُلَّهُمْ قَدْ أَحْسَنُوا القَوْلَ فَمَنْ وَافَقَ قَوْلهُ فِعْله فَذَاكَ الَّذى أَصَابَ حَظَّهُ، وَمَنْ وافَقَ قَوْلُه فِعْله فَإنَّمَا يربحُ نَفْسَهُ".
