ahmad-zuhd:648ʿAbdullāh > Bī > Muʿtamir b. Sulaymān > ʿAmmār al-Maʿwalī > al-Ḥasan

[Machine] Umar, may Allah have mercy on him, used to mention his brother at night and say, "How long this night feels!" Then, in the morning, he would go to his brother and when he met him, he would advise him or embrace Islam.  

الزهد لأحمد:٦٤٨حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أبِي حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ عَمَّارٍ الْمَعْوَلِيِّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ

أَنَّ عُمَرَ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ كَانَ يَذْكُرُ الْأَخَ مِنْ إِخْوَانِهِ بِاللَّيْلِ فَيَقُولُ «مَا أَطْوَلَهَا مِنْ لَيْلَةٍ» فَإِذَا [102] صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ غَدَا إِلَيْهِ فَإِذَا لَقِيَهُ؛ الْتَزَمَهُ أَوِ اعْتَنَقَهُ

"عن الحسن قال: كان عمرُ يذكرُ الرَّجُلَ من إخوانه في الليلِ فَيقُولُ: يَا طُولَهَا من ليلة، فإذا صلى الْمَكْتُوبَةَ شَدَّ فإذا لقِيَهُ اعْتَنَقَهُ أو الْتَزَمَهُ".
