ahmad-zuhd:61ʿAbdullāh from my father > Sayyār b. Ḥātim > Jaʿfar > Ayyūb > ʿAbd Rabbih b. Saʿīd al-Madanī

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon Uthman ibn Mazh'un while he was on his deathbed. He covered him and kissed him, saying, "May Allah have mercy on you, O Uthman. You have not suffered in this worldly life, nor has it afflicted you."  

الزهد لأحمد:٦١حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَناَ أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا سَيَّارُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْمَدَنِيِّ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَوْتِ فَأَكَبَّ عَلَيْهِ يُقَبِّلُهُ وَيَقُولُ «رَحِمَكَ اللَّهُ يَا عُثْمَانُ مَا أَصَبْتَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَلَا أَصَابَتْ مِنْكَ»
