ahmad-zuhd:367ʿAbdullāh > Bī > Ibrāhīm b. Khālid > ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Wahbb. Munabbih

[Machine] I heard Wahb bin Munabbih saying, "When Prophet Dawud (David), ﷺ , committed a sin, he did not eat any food except from what was moistened by his tears, and he did not drink any drink except mixed with his tears."  

الزهد لأحمد:٣٦٧حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أبِي حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ وَهْبَ بْنَ مُنَبِّهٍ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ دَاوُدَ ﷺ لَمَّا أَصَابَ الذَّنْبَ لَمْ يَطْعَمْ طَعَامًا قَطُّ إِلَّا مِمَّنْ وُجِدَ بِدُمُوعِ عَيْنَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَشْرَبْ شَرَابًا إِلَّا مَمْزُوجًا بِدُمُوعِ عَيْنَيْهِ»
