The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought some pieces of fine Egyptian linen and he gave me one and said: Divide it into two; cut one of the pieces into a shirt and give the other to your wife for veil. Then when he turned away, he said: And order your wife to wear a garment below it and not show her figure. Abu Dawud said: Yahya b. Ayyub transmitted it and said: 'Abbas b. 'Ubaid Allah b. 'Abbas  

أبو داود:٤١١٦ – حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ قَالاَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ دِحْيَةَ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ الْكَلْبِيِّ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِقَبَاطِيَّ فَأَعْطَانِي مِنْهَا قُبْطِيَّةً فَقَالَ اصْدَعْهَا صَدْعَيْنِ فَاقْطَعْ أَحَدَهُمَا قَمِيصًا وَأَعْطِ الآخَرَ امْرَأَتَكَ تَخْتَمِرُ بِهِ فَلَمَّا أَدْبَرَ قَالَ وَأْمُرِ امْرَأَتَكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ تَحْتَهُ ثَوْبًا لاَ يَصِفُهَا  

قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ رَوَاهُ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ فَقَالَ عَبَّاسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took my hand and gave me a piece of cloth, then he said, "Cut it into two halves and give one half to your wife so she can wear it to consecrate herself." When I turned to leave, he said, "Tell your wife not to place a garment under her split cloth."  

الطبراني:٤١٩٩ – حَدَّثَنَا الْمُقَدَّمُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ثنا أَبُو الْأَسْوَدِ النَّضْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَيَّاشٍ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ دِحْيَةَ الْكَلْبِيِّ قَالَ

أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قِبَاطِي فَأَعْطَانِي قُبْطِيَّةً فَقَالَ «اصْدَعْهَا صَدْعَتَيْنِ فَاقْطَعْ أَحَدَهُمَا قَمِيصًا وأَعْطِ الْآخَرَ امْرَأَتَكَ لِتَخْتَمِرَ بِهَا» فَلَمَّا أَدْبَرَتُ قَالَ «مُرِ امْرَأَتَكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ تَحْتَ صَدْعَتِهَا ثَوْبًا لَا تَصِفُهَا»

اصْدَعها صَدْعين، فاقْطعْ أحدَهُما قميِصًا، وأَعْطِ الآخَرَ امْرأتَكَ تَعْتَجُر به، وأمُرِ امْرأَتَك: أَن تجعلَ تَحته ثوْبًا لا يصفُها".
