Each of us (wives of the Prophet) had only one clothe in which she would menstruate. Whenever it was smeared with blood, she would moisten it with her saliva and scratch it with saliva.  

أبو داود:٣٥٨حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُسْلِمٍ يَذْكُرُ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ قَالَتْ

عَائِشَةُ مَا كَانَ لإِحْدَانَا إِلاَّ ثَوْبٌ وَاحِدٌ تَحِيضُ فِيهِ فَإِنْ أَصَابَهُ شَىْءٌ مِنْ دَمٍ بَلَّتْهُ بِرِيقِهَا ثُمَّ قَصَعَتْهُ بِرِيقِهَا

None of us had more than a single garment and we used to have our menses while wearing it. Whenever it got soiled with blood of menses we used to apply saliva to the blood spot and rub off the blood with our nails.

[Machine] Neither of us had anything but one garment, in which we would menstruate. If one of us got blood on it, she would wipe it off with water and then scrape it off with her nail.

[Machine] Neither of us had anything but one garment in which we menstruated, and if any blood stained it, she would wipe it off with her saliva and then scrape it off with her nails. And in a hadith narrated by Ata from Aisha, a drop of blood was mentioned, and it has already been mentioned in the Book of Purification.
