On the 1st of Dhul-Hijja we set out with the intention of performing Hajj. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Any one who likes to assume the Ihram for ʿUmra he can do so. Had I not brought the Hadi with me, I would have assumed the Ihram for ʿUmra. "Some of us assumed the Ihram for ʿUmra while the others assumed the Ihram for Hajj. I was one of those who assumed the Ihram for ʿUmra. I got menses and kept on menstruating until the day of ʿArafat and complained of that to the Prophet. He told me to postpone my ʿUmra, undo and comb my hair, and to assume the Ihram of Hajj and I did so. On the night of Hasba, he sent my brother ʿAbdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakr with me to at-Tanʿim, where I assumed the Ihram for ʿUmra in lieu of the previous one. Hisham said, "For that (ʿUmra) no Hadi, fasting or alms were required.

رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلْيُهْلِلْ فَإِنِّي لَوْلاَ أَنِّي أَهْدَيْتُ لأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَأَهَلَّ بَعْضُهُمْ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَأَهَلَّ بَعْضُهُمْ بِحَجٍّ وَكُنْتُ أَنَا مِمَّنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَأَدْرَكَنِي يَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ فَشَكَوْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ دَعِي عُمْرَتَكِ وَانْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَأَهِلِّي بِحَجٍّ فَفَعَلْتُ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ أَرْسَلَ مَعِي أَخِي عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَخَرَجْتُ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ مَكَانَ عُمْرَتِي قَالَ هِشَامٌ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِي شَىْءٍ مِنْ ذَلِكَ هَدْىٌ وَلاَ صَوْمٌ وَلاَ صَدَقَةٌ

' Aisha said, "We set out with Messenger of Allah ﷺs in the months of Hajj, and (in) the nights of Hajj, and at the time and places of Hajj and in a state of Hajj. We dismounted at Sarif (a village six miles from Mecca). The Prophet ﷺ then addressed his companions and said, "Anyone who has not got the Hadi and likes to do Umra instead of Hajj may do so (i.e. Hajj-al-Tamattuʿ) and anyone who has got the Hadi should not finish the Ihram after performing ' ʿUmra). (i.e. Hajj-al-Qiran). Aisha added, "The companions of the Prophet ﷺ obeyed the above (order) and some of them (i.e. who did not have Hadi) finished their Ihram after Umra." Messenger of Allah ﷺ and some of his companions were resourceful and had the Hadi with them, they could not perform Umra (alone) (but had to perform both Hajj and Umra with one Ihram). Aisha added, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me and saw me weeping and said, "What makes you weep, O Hantah?" I replied, "I have heard your conversation with your companions and I cannot perform the Umra." He asked, "What is wrong with you?' I replied, ' I do not offer the prayers (i.e. I have my menses).' He said, ' It will not harm you for you are one of the daughters of Adam, and Allah has written for you (this state) as He has written it for them. Keep on with your intentions for Hajj and Allah may reward you that." Aisha further added, "Then we proceeded for Hajj till we reached Mina and I became clean from my menses. Then I went out from Mina and performed Tawaf round the Kaʿba." Aisha added, "I went along with the Prophet ﷺ in his final departure (from Hajj) till he dismounted at Al-Muhassab (a valley outside Mecca), and we too, dismounted with him." He called ' ʿAbdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr and said to him, ' Take your sister outside the sanctuary of Mecca and let her assume Ihram for ' ʿUmra, and when you had finished ' ʿUmra, return to this place and I will wait for you both till you both return to me.' " ' Aisha added, " So we went out of the sanctuary of Mecca and after finishing from the ' ʿUmra and the Tawaf we returned to the Prophet ﷺ at dawn. He said, 'Have you performed the ' ʿUmra?' We replied in the affirmative. So he announced the departure amongst his companions and the people set out for the journey, and the Prophet: too left for Medina.''

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي أَشْهُرِ الْحَجِّ وَلَيَالِي الْحَجِّ وَحُرُمِ الْحَجِّ فَنَزَلْنَا بِسَرِفَ قَالَتْ فَخَرَجَ إِلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ فَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَجْعَلَهَا عُمْرَةً فَلْيَفْعَلْ وَمَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْىُ فَلاَ قَالَتْ فَالآخِذُ بِهَا وَالتَّارِكُ لَهَا مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ قَالَتْ فَأَمَّا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَرِجَالٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَكَانُوا أَهْلَ قُوَّةٍ وَكَانَ مَعَهُمُ الْهَدْىُ فَلَمْ يَقْدِرُوا عَلَى الْعُمْرَةِ قَالَتْ فَدَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا يُبْكِيكِ يَا هَنْتَاهْ قُلْتُ سَمِعْتُ قَوْلَكَ لأَصْحَابِكَ فَمُنِعْتُ الْعُمْرَةَ قَالَ وَمَا شَأْنُكِ قُلْتُ لاَ أُصَلِّي قَالَ فَلاَ يَضِيرُكِ إِنَّمَا أَنْتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنَاتِ آدَمَ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكِ مَا كَتَبَ عَلَيْهِنَّ فَكُونِي فِي حَجَّتِكِ فَعَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَرْزُقَكِيهَا قَالَتْ فَخَرَجْنَا فِي حَجَّتِهِ حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا مِنًى فَطَهَرْتُ ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ مِنْ مِنًى فَأَفَضْتُ بِالْبَيْتِ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ خَرَجَتْ مَعَهُ فِي النَّفْرِ الآخِرِ حَتَّى نَزَلَ الْمُحَصَّبَ وَنَزَلْنَا مَعَهُ فَدَعَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ اخْرُجْ بِأُخْتِكَ مِنَ الْحَرَمِ فَلْتُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ افْرُغَا ثُمَّ ائْتِيَا هَا هُنَا فَإِنِّي أَنْظُرُكُمَا حَتَّى تَأْتِيَانِي قَالَتْ فَخَرَجْنَا حَتَّى إِذَا فَرَغْتُ وَفَرَغْتُ مِنَ الطَّوَافِ ثُمَّ جِئْتُهُ بِسَحَرَ فَقَالَ هَلْ فَرَغْتُمْ فَقُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَآذَنَ بِالرَّحِيلِ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ فَارْتَحَلَ النَّاسُ فَمَرَّ مُتَوَجِّهًا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ ضَيْرُ مِنْ ضَارَ يَضِيرُ ضَيْرًا وَيُقَالُ ضَارَ يَضُورُ ضَوْرًا وَضَرَّ يَضُرُّ ضَرًّا

We set out along with Messenger of Allah ﷺ shortly before the appearance of the new moon (crescent) of the month of Dhi-l-Hijja and he said to us, "Whoever wants to assume Ihram for Hajj may do so; and whoever wants to assume Ihram for ʿUmra may do so. Hadn't I brought the Hadi (animal for sacrificing) (with me), I would have assumed Ihram for ʿUmra." (ʿAisha added,): So some of us assumed Ihram for ʿUmra while the others for Hajj. I was amongst those who assumed Ihram for ʿUmra. The day of ʿArafat approached and I was still menstruating. I complained to the Prophet ﷺ (about that) and he said, "Abandon your ʿUmra, undo and comb your hair, and assume Ihram for Hajj;." When it was the night of Hasba, he sent ʿAbdur Rahman with me to at-Tanʿim and I assumed Ihram for ʿUmra (and performed it) in lieu of my missed ʿUmra.

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مُوَافِينَ لِهِلاَلِ ذِي الْحَجَّةِ فَقَالَ لَنَا مَنْ أَحَبَّ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِالْحَجِّ فَلْيُهِلَّ وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلْيُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلَوْلاَ أَنِّي أَهْدَيْتُ لأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ قَالَتْ فَمِنَّا مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَمِنَّا مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِحَجٍّ وَكُنْتُ مِمَّنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَأَظَلَّنِي يَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ فَشَكَوْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ ارْفُضِي عُمْرَتَكِ وَانْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ فَلَمَّا كَانَ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ أَرْسَلَ مَعِي عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ مَكَانَ عُمْرَتِي

When it was the night of Hasba (day of departure from Mina), the Prophet ﷺ sent ʿAbdur Rahman with me to at-Tanʿim. The sub-narrator adds: He (ʿAbdur-Rahman) let her ride behind him. And she assumed Ihram for ʿUmra in lieu of the abandoned one. Aisha completed her Hajj and ʿUmra, and no Hadi, Sadaqa (charity), or fasting was obligatory for her.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مُوَافِينَ لِهِلاَلِ ذِي الْحَجَّةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلْيُهِلَّ وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِحَجَّةِ فَلْيُهِلَّ وَلَوْلاَ أَنِّي أَهْدَيْتُ لأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَمِنْهُمْ مِنْ أَهَلَّ بِحَجَّةٍ وَكُنْتُ مِمَّنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَحِضْتُ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَدْخُلَ مَكَّةَ فَأَدْرَكَنِي يَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ فَشَكَوْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ دَعِي عُمْرَتَكِ وَانْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ فَفَعَلْتُ فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ أَرْسَلَ مَعِي عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَرْدَفَهَا فَأَهَلَّتْ بِعُمْرَةٍ مَكَانَ عُمْرَتِهَا فَقَضَى اللَّهُ حَجَّهَا وَعُمْرَتَهَا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِي شَىْءٍ مِنْ ذَلِكَ هَدْىٌ وَلاَ صَدَقَةٌ وَلاَ صَوْمٌ

We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage. There were some amongst us who had put on IHram for Umra and there were some who had put on Ihram for Hajj. (We proceeded on till) we came to Mecca. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who put on Ihram for 'Umra but did not bring the sacrificial animal with him should put it off. and he who put on Ihram for Umra and he who had brought the sacrificial animal with him should not put it off until he had slaughtered the animal; and he who put on lhram for Hajj should complete it. A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) said: I was in the monthlyperiod, and I remained In this state till the day of 'Arafa, and I had entered into the state of Ihram for 'Umra. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ thus commanded me to undo my hair and comb them (again) and enter into the state of Ihram for Hajj, and abandon (the rites of 'Umra). She ('A'isha) said: I did so, and when I had completed my Pilgrimage, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent with me 'Abd al-Rabman b. Abu Bakr and commanded me to (resume the rites of) 'Umra at Tan'im. the place where (I abandoned) 'Umra and put on Ihram for Hajj (before completing Umra).

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَمِنَّا مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَمِنَّا مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِحَجٍّ حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَحْرَمَ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَلَمْ يُهْدِ فَلْيَحْلِلْ وَمَنْ أَحْرَمَ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَأَهْدَى فَلاَ يَحِلُّ حَتَّى يَنْحَرَ هَدْيَهُ وَمَنْ أَهَلَّ بِحَجٍّ فَلْيُتِمَّ حَجَّهُ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ ؓ فَحِضْتُ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ حَائِضًا حَتَّى كَانَ يَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ وَلَمْ أُهْلِلْ إِلاَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَأَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ أَنْقُضَ رَأْسِي وَأَمْتَشِطَ وَأُهِلَّ بِحَجٍّ وَأَتْرُكَ الْعُمْرَةَ قَالَتْ فَفَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى إِذَا قَضَيْتُ حَجَّتِي بَعَثَ مَعِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَعْتَمِرَ مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ مَكَانَ عُمْرَتِي الَّتِي أَدْرَكَنِي الْحَجُّ وَلَمْ أَحْلِلْ مِنْهَا

We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage. I put on Ihram for Umra and did not bring the sacrificial animal. The Apostle of Allah ﷺ said: He who has the sacrihcial animal with him should enter into the state of Ihram for Hajj along with 'Umra, and. he should not put the Ihram off till he has completed both of them. She (Hadrat A'isha) said: The monthly period began. When it was the night of Arafa, I said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: I entered into the state of Ihram for 'Umra. but now how should I perform the Hajj? Thereupon he said: Undo your hair and comb them, and desist from performing Umra, and put on Ihram for Hajj She (A'isha, said: When I had completed my Hajj he commanded 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr to carry me behind him (on boneback) in order to enable me to resume the rituals of Umra from Tan'im, the place where I abandoned its rituals.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَلَمْ أَكُنْ سُقْتُ الْهَدْىَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ فَلْيُهْلِلْ بِالْحَجِّ مَعَ عُمْرَتِهِ ثُمَّ لاَ يَحِلَّ حَتَّى يَحِلَّ مِنْهُمَا جَمِيعًا قَالَتْ فَحِضْتُ فَلَمَّا دَخَلَتْ لَيْلَةُ عَرَفَةَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَكَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ بِحَجَّتِي قَالَ انْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَأَمْسِكِي عَنِ الْعُمْرَةِ وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا قَضَيْتُ حَجَّتِي أَمَرَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَرْدَفَنِي فَأَعْمَرَنِي مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ مَكَانَ عُمْرَتِي الَّتِي أَمْسَكْتُ عَنْهَا

We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ (in his) Farewell Pilgrimage near the time of the appearance of the new moon of Dhul-Hijja. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who amongst you intends to put on Ihram for ʿUmra may do so; had I not brought sacrificial animals along with me, I would have put on Ihram for ʿUmra. She (further said). There were some persons who put on Ihram for ʿUmra, and some persons who put on Ihram for Hajj, and I was one of those who put on Ihram for ʿUmra. We went on till we reached Mecca, and on the day of ʿArafa I found myself in a state of menses, but I did not put off the Ihram for ʿUmra. I told about (this state of mine) to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, whereupon he said: Abandon your ʿUmra, and undo the hair of your head and comb (them), and put on Ihram for Hajj. She (ʿA'isha) said: I did accordingly. When it was the night at Hasba and Allah enabled us to complete our Hajj, he (the Holy Prophet) sent with me ʿAbd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr, and he mounted me behind him on his camel and took me to Tanʿim and I put on Ihram for ʿUmra, and thus Allah enabled us to complete our Hajj and ʿUmra and (we were required to observe) neither sacrifice nor alms nor fasting.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ مُوَافِينَ لِهِلاَلِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ قَالَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَرَادَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلْيُهِلَّ فَلَوْلاَ أَنِّي أَهْدَيْتُ لأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ قَالَتْ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِالْحَجِّ قَالَتْ فَكُنْتُ أَنَا مِمَّنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَخَرَجْنَا حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ فَأَدْرَكَنِي يَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ لَمْ أَحِلَّ مِنْ عُمْرَتِي فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ دَعِي عُمْرَتَكِ وَانْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ قَالَتْ فَفَعَلْتُ فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ وَقَدْ قَضَى اللَّهُ حَجَّنَا أَرْسَلَ مَعِي عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَرْدَفَنِي وَخَرَجَ بِي إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَقَضَى اللَّهُ حَجَّنَا وَعُمْرَتَنَا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِي ذَلِكَ هَدْىٌ وَلاَ صَدَقَةٌ وَلاَ صَوْمٌ

We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with no other aim but that of Hajj till we came (to the place known as) Sarif; and there I entered in the state of menses. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me while I was weeping. He said: What makes you weep? I said: Would that I had not come (for Pilgrimage) this year. He (the Holy Prophet) said: What has happened to you? You have perhaps entered the period of menses. I said: Yes. He said: This is what has been ordained for the daughters of Adam. Do what a pilgrim does except that you should not circumambulate the House, till you are purified (of the menses). She ('A'isha) said: When I came to Mecca, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions: Make this (Ihram) the Ihram for 'Umra. So the people put off Ihram except those who had sacrificial animals with them. She ('A'isha) said: The Apostle of Allah ﷺ had the sacrificial animal with him, and so had Abu Bakr, 'Umar and other persons of means. They (those who had put off Ihram again) put on Ihram (for Hajj) when they marched (towards Mina), and it was the 8th of Dhu'l-Hijja. She ('A'isha) said: When it was the day of sacrifice (10th of Dhu'l-Hijja), I was purified, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me and I did the circumambulation of Ifada. She said that the flesh of cow was sent to us. I said: What is it? They said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has offered a cow as sacrifice on behalf of his wives. When it was the night at Hasba, I said: Messenger of Allah, people are coming back from Hajj and Umra, where as I am coming back from Hajj (alone). She (A'isha) reported: He (the Holy Prophet) commanded" Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr to mount me upon his camel behind him. She ('A'isha) said: I was very young and I well remember that I dozed off and my face touched the hind part of the haudaj (camel litter) till we came to Tan'im, and entered into the state of Ihram in lieu of Umra (which I for the time being abandoned) and which the people had performed.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ نَذْكُرُ إِلاَّ الْحَجَّ حَتَّى جِئْنَا سَرِفَ فَطَمِثْتُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا يُبْكِيكِ فَقُلْتُ وَاللَّهِ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ خَرَجْتُ الْعَامَ قَالَ مَا لَكِ لَعَلَّكِ نَفِسْتِ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ هَذَا شَىْءٌ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ افْعَلِي مَا يَفْعَلُ الْحَاجُّ غَيْرَ أَنْ لاَ تَطُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى تَطْهُرِي قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْتُ مَكَّةَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لأَصْحَابِهِ اجْعَلُوهَا عُمْرَةً فَأَحَلَّ النَّاسُ إِلاَّ مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْىُ قَالَتْ فَكَانَ الْهَدْىُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَذَوِي الْيَسَارَةِ ثُمَّ أَهَلُّوا حِينَ رَاحُوا قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ طَهَرْتُ فَأَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَفَضْتُ قَالَتْ فَأُتِينَا بِلَحْمِ بَقَرٍ فَقُلْتُ مَا هَذَا فَقَالُوا أَهْدَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ نِسَائِهِ الْبَقَرَ فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَرْجِعُ النَّاسُ بِحَجَّةٍ وَعُمْرَةٍ وَأَرْجِعُ بِحَجَّةٍ قَالَتْ فَأَمَرَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَرْدَفَنِي عَلَى جَمَلِهِ قَالَتْ فَإِنِّي لأَذْكُرُ وَأَنَا جَارِيَةٌ حَدِيثَةُ السِّنِّ أَنْعُسُ فَتُصِيبُ وَجْهِي مُؤْخِرَةُ الرَّحْلِ حَتَّى جِئْنَا إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهْلَلْتُ مِنْهَا بِعُمْرَةٍ جَزَاءً بِعُمْرَةِ النَّاسِ الَّتِي اعْتَمَرُوا

We proceeded with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ putting on the Ihram for Hajj during the months of Hajj and the night of Hajj till we encamped at Sarif. He (the Holy Prophet) went to his Companions and said: He who has no sacrificial animal with him, in his case I wish that he should perform Umra (with this Ihram), and he who has the sacrificial animal with him should not do it. So some of them performed Hajj whereas others who had no sacrificial animals with them did not do (Hajj, but performed only 'Umra). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a sacrificial animal with him and those too who could afford it (performed) Hajj). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me (i. e. A'isha) while I was weeping, and he said: What makes you weep? I said: I heard your talk with Companions about Umra. He said: What has happened to you? I said: I do not observe prayer (due to the monthly period), whereupon he said: It would not harm you; you should perform (during this time) the rituals of Hajj (which you can do outside the House). Maybe Allah will compensate you for this. You are one among the daughters of Adam and Allah has ordained for you as He has ordained for them. So I proceeded on (with the rituals of Hajj) till we came to Mina. I washed myself and then circumambulated the House, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ encamped at Muhassab and called, Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr. and said: Take out your sister from the precincts of the Ka'ba in order to put on Ihram for Umra and circumambulate the House. and I shall wait for you here. She said: So I went out and put on Ihram and then circumambulated the House, and (ran) between al-Safa and al-Marwa, and then we came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he was in his house in the middle of the night. He said: Have you completed your (rituals)? I said: Yes. He then announced to his Companions to march on. He came out, and went to the House and circumambulated it before the dawn prayer and then proceeded to Medina.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مُهِلِّينَ بِالْحَجِّ فِي أَشْهُرِ الْحَجِّ وَفِي حُرُمِ الْحَجِّ وَلَيَالِي الْحَجِّ حَتَّى نَزَلْنَا بِسَرِفَ فَخَرَجَ إِلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ مِنْكُمْ هَدْىٌ فَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَجْعَلَهَا عُمْرَةً فَلْيَفْعَلْ وَمَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ فَلاَ فَمِنْهُمُ الآخِذُ بِهَا وَالتَّارِكُ لَهَا مِمَّنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ فَأَمَّا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَكَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْىُ وَمَعَ رِجَالٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ لَهُمْ قُوَّةٌ فَدَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا يُبْكِيكِ قُلْتُ سَمِعْتُ كَلاَمَكَ مَعَ أَصْحَابِكَ فَسَمِعْتُ بِالْعُمْرَةِ فَمُنِعْتُ الْعُمْرَةَ قَالَ وَمَا لَكِ قُلْتُ لاَ أُصَلِّي قَالَ فَلاَ يَضُرُّكِ فَكُونِي فِي حَجِّكِ فَعَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَرْزُقَكِيهَا وَإِنَّمَا أَنْتِ مِنْ بَنَاتِ آدَمَ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكِ مَا كَتَبَ عَلَيْهِنَّ قَالَتْ فَخَرَجْتُ فِي حَجَّتِي حَتَّى نَزَلْنَا مِنًى فَتَطَهَّرْتُ ثُمَّ طُفْنَا بِالْبَيْتِ وَنَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْمُحَصَّبَ فَدَعَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ اخْرُجْ بِأُخْتِكَ مِنَ الْحَرَمِ فَلْتُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ لْتَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ فَإِنِّي أَنْتَظِرُكُمَا هَا هُنَا قَالَتْ فَخَرَجْنَا فَأَهْلَلْتُ ثُمَّ طُفْتُ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَجِئْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ مِنْ جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ هَلْ فَرَغْتِ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَآذَنَ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ بِالرَّحِيلِ فَخَرَجَ فَمَرَّ بِالْبَيْتِ فَطَافَ بِهِ قَبْلَ صَلاَةِ الصُّبْحِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ

We, in the state of lhram, came with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for Hajj Mufrad (with the aim of Hajj only), and 'A'isha set out for Umra, and when we reached Sarif, she (Hadrat A'isha) entered in the state of monthly period; we proceeded on till we reached (Mecca) and circumambulated the Ka'ba and ran between (al-Safa) and al-Marwa; and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded that one who amongst us had no sacrificial animal with him should put off Ihram. We said: What does this "putting off" imply? He said: Getting out completely from the state of lhram, (so we put off Ihram), and we turned to our wives and applied perfume and put on our clothes. and we were at a four night's distance from 'Arafa. And we again put on Ihram on the day of Tarwiya (8th of Dhu'l-Hijja). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) and found her weeping, and said: What is the matter with you? She said: The matter is that I have entered in the monthly period, and the people had put off lhram, but I did not and I did not circumambulate the House, and the people are going for Hajj now (but I can't go), whereupon he said: It is the matter which Allah has ordained for the daughters of Adam, so now take a bath and put on Ihram for Hajj. She ('A'isha) did accordingly, and stayed at the places of staying till the monthly period was over. She then circumambulated the House, and (ran between) al-Safa and al-Marwa. He (the Holy Prophet) then said: Now both your Hajj and 'Umra are complete, whereupon she said: I feel in my mind that I did not circumambulate the House till I performed Hajj (I missed the circumambulation of 'Umra). Thereupon he (Allah's Apostle) said: 'Abd al-Rahman, take her to Tan'im (so as to enable her) to perform Umra (separately), and it was the night at Hasba.

أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَقْبَلْنَا مُهِلِّينَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِحَجٍّ مُفْرَدٍ وَأَقْبَلَتْ عَائِشَةُ ؓ بِعُمْرَةٍ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِسَرِفَ عَرَكَتْ حَتَّى إِذَا قَدِمْنَا طُفْنَا بِالْكَعْبَةِ وَالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَحِلَّ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ قَالَ فَقُلْنَا حِلُّ مَاذَا قَالَ الْحِلُّ كُلُّهُ فَوَاقَعْنَا النِّسَاءَ وَتَطَيَّبْنَا بِالطِّيبِ وَلَبِسْنَا ثِيَابَنَا وَلَيْسَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ عَرَفَةَ إِلاَّ أَرْبَعُ لَيَالٍ ثُمَّ أَهْلَلْنَا يَوْمَ التَّرْوِيَةِ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ ؓ فَوَجَدَهَا تَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا شَانُكِ قَالَتْ شَانِي أَنِّي قَدْ حِضْتُ وَقَدْ حَلَّ النَّاسُ وَلَمْ أَحْلِلْ وَلَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَالنَّاسُ يَذْهَبُونَ إِلَى الْحَجِّ الآنَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا أَمْرٌ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَاغْتَسِلِي ثُمَّ أَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ فَفَعَلَتْ وَوَقَفَتِ الْمَوَاقِفَ حَتَّى إِذَا طَهَرَتْ طَافَتْ بِالْكَعْبَةِ وَالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ قَدْ حَلَلْتِ مِنْ حَجِّكِ وَعُمْرَتِكِ جَمِيعًا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي أَنِّي لَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى حَجَجْتُ قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ بِهَا يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَأَعْمِرْهَا مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ وَذَلِكَ لَيْلَةَ الْحَصْبَةِ

We went out along with The Messenger of Allah (SWAS) when the moon of the month of Dhu al-Hijja was going to appear shortly. When he reached Dhu al-Hulaifah he said : Anyone who wants to perform Hajj should raise his voice in Talbiyah for Hajj (after wearing Ihram); and he who wants to perform ʿUmrah should raise his voice in talbiyah for an ʿUmrah. The narrator Musa in the version of Wuhaib reported him (the Prophet) as saying if there were no sacrificial animals with me, I would raise my voice in talbiyah for an ʿUmrah. But according to the version of Hammad bin Salamah, he said as for myself, I shall raise my voice in talbiyah for Hajj because I have sacrificial animal with me. The agreed version goes I (Ai’shah) was one of those persons who wore Ihram for an ‘Umrah. But on my way (to Makkah) I menstruated. The Messenger of Allah (SWAS) entered upon me while I was weeping. He asked why are you weeping? I wished I would not come out (for Hajj) this year. He said give up your ʿUmrah; untie your hair and comb. The version of Musa said and raise your voice in talbiyah for Hajj (after wearing Ihram). Sulaiman’s version goes and do as all the Muslims do during their Hajj. When the night for performing the obligatory circumambulation (tawaf al-Ziyarah) came, the Messenger of Allah (SWAS) commanded ʿAbd al-Rahman. He took her to al-Tan’im (instead of the words “her ‘Umrah”). She went round the Ka’bah. Allah thus completed both her ‘Umrah and Hajj. Hisham said : No sacrificial animal was offered during all this time. In the version of Hammad bin Salamah, the narrator Musa added when the night of al-Batha came Ai’ shah was purified.

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مُوَافِينَ هِلاَلَ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَلَمَّا كَانَ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ قَالَ مَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِحَجٍّ فَلْيُهِلَّ وَمَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلْيُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ قَالَ مُوسَى فِي حَدِيثِ وُهَيْبٍ فَإِنِّي لَوْلاَ أَنِّي أَهْدَيْتُ لأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَقَالَ فِي حَدِيثِ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ وَأَمَّا أَنَا فَأُهِلُّ بِالْحَجِّ فَإِنَّ مَعِيَ الْهَدْىَ ثُمَّ اتَّفَقُوا فَكُنْتُ فِيمَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَ فِي بَعْضِ الطَّرِيقِ حِضْتُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا يُبْكِيكِ قُلْتُ وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ خَرَجْتُ الْعَامَ قَالَ ارْفُضِي عُمْرَتَكِ وَانْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي قَالَ مُوسَى وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ وَقَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ وَاصْنَعِي مَا يَصْنَعُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ فِي حَجِّهِمْ فَلَمَّا كَانَ لَيْلَةُ الصَّدَرِ أَمَرَ يَعْنِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَذَهَبَ بِهَا إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ زَادَ مُوسَى فَأَهَلَّتْ بِعُمْرَةٍ مَكَانَ عُمْرَتِهَا وَطَافَتْ بِالْبَيْتِ فَقَضَى اللَّهُ عُمْرَتَهَا وَحَجَّهَا قَالَ هِشَامٌ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِي شَىْءٍ مِنْ ذَلِكَ هَدْىٌ

Jabir said “We went out along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raising our voices in talbiyah for Hakk alone(Ifrad) while A’ishah raised her voice in talbiyah for an ‘Umrah. When she reached Sarif, she menstruated. When we came to (Makkah) we circumambulated the Ka’bah and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then commanded us that those who had not brought sacrificial animals withthem should put off their ihram (after ‘Umrah). We asked “Which acts are lawful(and which not)? He replied All acts are lawful (that are permissible usually). We had therefore intercourse with our wives, used perfumes, put on our clothes. There remained only four days to perform Hajj at ‘Arafah. We then raised our voice in talbiyah (wearing Ihram for Hajj) on the eighth of Dhu al Hijjah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon A’ishah and found her weeping. He said What is the matter with you? My problem is that I have menstruated, while the people have put on their ihram but I have not done so, nor did I go round the House(the Ka’bah). Now the people are proceeding for Hajj. He said This is a thing destined by Allah to the daughters of Adam. Take a bath, then raise your voice in talbiyah for Hajj(i.e, wear ihram for Hajj). She took a abtah and performed all the rites of the Hajj(lit. she stayed at all those places where the pilgrims stay). When she was purified, she circumambulated the House (the Ka’bah), and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. He (the Prophet) said “Now you have performed both your Hajj and your ‘Umrah. She said Messenger of Allah, I have some misgiving in my mind that I did not go round the Ka’bah when I performed Hajj (in the beginning). He said ‘Abd al Rahman (her brother), take her and have her perform ‘Umrah from Al Tan’im. This happened on the night of Al Hasbah(i.e., the fourteenth of Dhu Al Hijjah).

أَقْبَلْنَا مُهِلِّينَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِالْحَجِّ مُفْرَدًا وَأَقْبَلَتْ عَائِشَةُ مُهِلَّةً بِعُمْرَةٍ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَتْ بِسَرِفَ عَرَكَتْ حَتَّى إِذَا قَدِمْنَا طُفْنَا بِالْكَعْبَةِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُحِلَّ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ قَالَ فَقُلْنَا حِلُّ مَاذَا فَقَالَ الْحِلُّ كُلُّهُ فَوَاقَعْنَا النِّسَاءَ وَتَطَيَّبْنَا بِالطِّيبِ وَلَبِسْنَا ثِيَابَنَا وَلَيْسَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ عَرَفَةَ إِلاَّ أَرْبَعُ لَيَالٍ ثُمَّ أَهْلَلْنَا يَوْمَ التَّرْوِيَةِ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَوَجَدَهَا تَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا شَأْنُكِ قَالَتْ شَأْنِي أَنِّي قَدْ حِضْتُ وَقَدْ حَلَّ النَّاسُ وَلَمْ أَحْلِلْ وَلَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَالنَّاسُ يَذْهَبُونَ إِلَى الْحَجِّ الآنَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا أَمْرٌ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَاغْتَسِلِي ثُمَّ أَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ فَفَعَلَتْ وَوَقَفَتِ الْمَوَاقِفَ حَتَّى إِذَا طَهُرَتْ طَافَتْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ قَدْ حَلَلْتِ مِنْ حَجِّكِ وَعُمْرَتِكِ جَمِيعًا قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي أَنِّي لَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ حِينَ حَجَجْتُ قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ بِهَا يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَأَعْمِرْهَا مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ وَذَلِكَ لَيْلَةَ الْحَصْبَةِ

"We came in Ihram with the Messenger of Allah for Hajj alone (Mufrad), and 'Aishah came in Ihram for 'Umrah. Then, whe we were in Sarif her menses started. When we came, we circumambulated the Ka'bah and (performed Sa'i) between As-safa and Al-Marwah. Then, the Messenger of Allah commanded those of us who did not have a Hadi to exit Ihram. We said: 'Exit Ihram to what degree?' He said" 'Completely.' So we had intercourse with out, wives put on perfume, and wore only four nights away from 'Arafat. The, we entered Ihram on the day of At-Tarwiyah. The Messenger of Allah entered upon 'Aishah and found here weeping. He said: 'What is the matter with you?' She said: 'I have got my menses and the people exited Ihram, but I did not exit Ihram or did I circumambulate the House, and the people are going for Hajj now.' He said: 'This is something that Allah ahs decreed for the daughters of Adam. Perform Ghusl, then begin the Talbiyah for Hajj.' So she did that and did all the rituals. Then, when she became pure, she circumambulated the House and (Performed Sa'i) between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. Then, he said: 'You have exited Ihram from your Hajj and your 'Umrah at the same time." She said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I feel upset because I only circumambulated the House during my Hajj.' He said: 'Take here, O 'Abdullah, to perform 'Umrah from At-Tan'im.' And that was on the night of Al-Hasbah (the twelfth night of Dhul-Hijjah)."

أَقْبَلْنَا مُهِلِّينَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِحَجٍّ مُفْرَدٍ وَأَقْبَلَتْ عَائِشَةُ مُهِلَّةً بِعُمْرَةٍ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِسَرِفَ عَرَكَتْ حَتَّى إِذَا قَدِمْنَا طُفْنَا بِالْكَعْبَةِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَحِلَّ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ قَالَ فَقُلْنَا حِلُّ مَاذَا قَالَ الْحِلُّ كُلُّهُ فَوَاقَعْنَا النِّسَاءَ وَتَطَيَّبْنَا بِالطِّيبِ وَلَبِسْنَا ثِيَابَنَا وَلَيْسَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ عَرَفَةَ إِلاَّ أَرْبَعُ لَيَالٍ ثُمَّ أَهْلَلْنَا يَوْمَ التَّرْوِيَةِ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَوَجَدَهَا تَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا شَأْنُكِ فَقَالَتْ شَأْنِي أَنِّي قَدْ حِضْتُ وَقَدْ حَلَّ النَّاسُ وَلَمْ أُحْلِلْ وَلَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَالنَّاسُ يَذْهَبُونَ إِلَى الْحَجِّ الآنَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا أَمْرٌ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَاغْتَسِلِي ثُمَّ أَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ فَفَعَلَتْ وَوَقَفَتِ الْمَوِاقِفَ حَتَّى إِذَا طَهُرَتْ طَافَتْ بِالْكَعْبَةِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ قَدْ حَلَلْتِ مِنْ حَجَّتِكِ وَعُمْرَتِكِ جَمِيعًا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي أَنِّي لَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى حَجَجْتُ قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ بِهَا يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَأَعْمِرْهَا مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ وَذَلِكَ لَيْلَةَ الْحَصْبَةِ

“We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Farewell Pilgrimage, close to the time of the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever among you wants to begin the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah, let him do so. If it were not for the fact that I have brought a sacrificial animal with me, I would have began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah.’” She said: “Some of the people began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah, and some began the Talbiyah for Hajj. I was one of those who began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah.” She said: “We set out until we reached Makkah, then the Day of ‘Arafah came while I was in menses, but I did not exit Ihram for ‘Umrah I complained about that to the Prophet ﷺ and he said: ‘Leave your ‘Umrah, undo your hair and comb it, and begin the Talbiyah for Hajj.’” She said: “So I did that, then on the night of Hasbah (i.e., the twelfth night of Dhul-Hijjah), when Allah had enables us to complete our Hajj, he sent ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr with me. He seated me behind him and went out to Tan’im, then I began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah and Allah enabled us to complete our Hajj and ‘Umrah, and there was no sacrificial animal, charity nor fasting.”

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حِجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ نُوَافِي هِلاَلَ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَرَادَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلْيُهْلِلْ فَلَوْلاَ أَنِّي أَهْدَيْتُ لأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ قَالَتْ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِحَجٍّ فَكُنْتُ أَنَا مِمَّنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ قَالَتْ فَخَرَجْنَا حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ فَأَدْرَكَنِي يَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ لَمْ أَحِلَّ مِنْ عُمْرَتِي فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ دَعِي عُمْرَتَكِ وَانْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ قَالَتْ فَفَعَلْتُ فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ وَقَدْ قَضَى اللَّهُ حَجَّنَا أَرْسَلَ مَعِي عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَرْدَفَنِي وَخَرَجَ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَقَضَى اللَّهُ حَجَّنَا وَعُمْرَتَنَا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِي ذَلِكَ هَدْىٌ وَلاَ صَدَقَةٌ وَلاَ صَوْمٌ

We went with Messenger of Allah ﷺ in 'a state of Ihram for the Hajj. There were women and children with us. When we reached Mecca we circumambulated the House and (ran) between al-Safa and al-Marwa. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who has no sacrificial animal with him should put off lhram. We said: What kind of putting off? He said: Getting out of lhram completely. So we came to our wives, and put on our clothes and applied perfume. When it was the day of Tarwiya, we put on Ihram for Hajj. and the first circumambulation and (running) between al-Safa and al-Marwa sufficed us.. Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to become seven partners (in the sacrifice) of a camel and a cow. (Using translation from Muslim 1213d)

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مُهِلِّينَ بِالْحَجِّ مَعَنَا النِّسَاءُ وَالْوِلْدَانُ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ طُفْنَا بِالْبَيْتِوَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَقَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ فَلْيَحْلِلْ قُلْنَا أَيُّ الْحِلِّ قَالَ الْحِلُّ كُلُّهُ قَالَ فَأَتَيْنَا النِّسَاءَ وَلَبِسْنَا الثِّيَابَ وَمَسِسْنَا الطِّيبَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ التَّرْوِيَةِ أَهْلَلْنَا بِالْحَجِّ وَكَفَانَا الطَّوَافُ الْأَوَّلُ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ وَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَشْتَرِكَ فِي الْإِبِلِ وَالْبَقَرِ كُلُّ سَبْعَةٍ مِنَّا فِي بَدَنَةٍ فَجَاءَ سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ جُعْشُمٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بَيِّنْ لَنَا دِينَنَا كَأَنَّا خُلِقْنَا الْآنَ أَرَأَيْتَ عُمْرَتَنَا هَذِهِ لِعَامِنَا هَذَا أَمْ لِلْأَبَدِ؟ فَقَالَ لَا بَلْ لِلْأَبَدِ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بَيِّنْ لَنَا دِينَنَا كَأَنَّا خُلِقْنَا الْآنَ فِيمَ الْعَمَلُ الْيَوْمَ؟ أَفِيمَا جَفَّتْ بِهِ الْأَقْلَامُ وَجَرَتْ بِهِ الْمَقَادِيرُ أَوْ فِيمَا نَسْتَقْبِلُ؟ قَالَ لَا بَلْ فِيمَا جَفَّتْ بِهِ الْأَقْلَامُ وَجَرَتْ بِهِ الْمَقَادِيرُ قَالَ فَفِيمَ الْعَمَلُ؟ قَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ فِي حَدِيثِهِ فَسَمِعْتُ مَنْ سَمِعَ مِنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ يَقُولُ قَالَ اعْمَلُوا فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ

[AI] He heard Jabir bin Abdullah saying, "The Prophet ﷺ entered upon Aisha while she was crying and asked, 'Why are you crying?' She replied, 'I cry because people have been allowed to perform Hajj and Umrah, and they have circumambulated the Kaaba and I haven't, and Hajj has already arrived.' He said, 'Indeed, this is something that Allah has ordained for the daughters of Adam. So purify yourself and prepare for Hajj.' She said, 'I did that, and when I purified myself, he said, 'Circumambulate the Kaaba between Safa and Marwa, then you may be released from your Hajj and Umrah obligations.' She said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I feel inside me that I did not complete my Umrah before performing Hajj.' He said, 'Then go, O Abdur Rahman, and perform Umrah on her behalf with the best of provision.'"

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ وَهِيَ تَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا لَكِ تَبْكِينَ؟ قَالَتْ أَبْكِي أَنَّ النَّاسَ أَحَلُّوا وَلَمْ أَحْلِلْ وَطَافُوا بِالْبَيْتِ وَلَمْ أَطُفْ وَهَذَا الْحَجُّ قَدْ حَضَرَ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا أَمْرٌ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَاغْتَسِلِي وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ وَحُجِّي قَالَتْ فَفَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ فَلَمَّا طَهُرْتُ قَالَ طُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ قَدْ أَحْلَلْتِ مِنْ حَجِّكِ وَمِنْ عُمْرَتِكِ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي مِنْ عُمْرَتِي أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ طُفْتُ حَتَّى حَجَجْتُ قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ بِهَا يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَأَعْمِرْهَا مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ

[AI] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as pilgrims, with no intention except for Hajj. When we reached Sarif, Aisha menstruated. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her while she was crying and asked, "Why are you crying?" She said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have been harmed!" He said, "Indeed, you are one of the daughters of Adam, and what afflicts them may afflict you." He added, "We have already arrived at the Kaaba in four days or nights of Dhul-Hijjah, then we performed Tawaf around the Kaaba and Sa'i between Safa and Marwa. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us and we performed all the rituals of Hajj except for the prohibited actions. So we discussed among ourselves and said, "We went out as pilgrims with no intention except for Hajj, and we don't intend anything else. Until there was no more than four days or nights between us and Arafat, so we went out to Arafat. Our women were experiencing discharge like that of men. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed of this and he stood up to deliver a sermon, saying, "Indeed, the Umrah is included in the Hajj. If I had known beforehand what I came to know later, I would not have brought the Hadi (sacrificial animal) with me, and if there was no Hadi, I would have assumed Ihram for Umrah." Therefore, whoever does not have a Hadi with him should perform Tahlil (which refers to assuming Ihram for Hajj only by starting the Talbiyah at Meeqat and then remaining in Ihram till the end of Hajj). Suraqa bin Malik bin Ju'shum stood up and asked, "O Messenger of Allah, inform us about those who seem to have been born today, are they considered as if they were born today or forever?" He replied, "No, they are considered as if they were born forever." He then said, "We went to Arafat and then left it. Aisha said to the Messenger of Allah, "I find that I have assumed Ihram without my intention." He said, "You have what they have." She then said, "O Messenger of Allah, I feel something in myself." So he stopped at the highest point of Makkah and commanded her brother Abdullah bin Abu Bakr to cover her until she reached the place of Tan'im. Then she performed the rituals of Umrah and returned to the Prophet ﷺ .

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حُجَّاجًا لَا نُرِيدُ إِلَّا الْحَجَّ وَلَا نَنْوِي غَيْرَهُ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغْنَا سَرِفَ حَاضَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهِيَ تَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا لَكِ تَبْكِينَ؟ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَصَابَنِي الْأَذَى قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَنْتِ مِنْ بَنَاتِ آدَمَ يُصِيبُكِ مَا يُصِيبُهُنَّ قَالَ وَقَدِمْنَا الْكَعْبَةَ فِي أَرْبَعٍ مَضَيْنَ مِنْ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ أَيَّامًا أَوْ لَيَالِيَ فَطُفْنَا بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَرَنَا فَأَحْلَلْنَا الْإِحْلَالَ كُلَّهُ قَالَ فَتَذَاكَرْنَا بَيْنَنَا فَقُلْنَا خَرَجْنَا حُجَّاجًا لَا نُرِيدُ إِلَّا الْحَجَّ وَلَا نَنْوِي غَيْرَهُ حَتَّى إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ عَرَفَاتٍ إِلَّا أَرْبَعَةُ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ لَيَالٍ خَرَجْنَا إِلَى عَرَفَاتٍ وَمَذَاكِيرُنَا تَقْطُرُ الْمَنِيَّ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ قَالَ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَامَ خَطِيبًا فَقَالَ أَلَا إِنَّ الْعُمْرَةَ قَدْ دَخَلَتْ فِي الْحَجِّ وَلَوِ اسْتَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ أَمْرِي مَا اسْتَدْبَرْتُ مَا سُقْتُ الْهَدْيَ وَلَوْلَاالْهَدْيُ لَأَحْلَلْتُ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ فَلْيَحِلَّ فَقَامَ سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ جُعْشُمٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ خَبِّرْنَا خَبَرَ قَوْمٍ كَأَنَّمَا وُلِدُوا الْيَوْمَ أَلِعَامِنَا هَذَا أَمْ لِلْأَبَدِ؟ قَالَ لَا بَلْ لِلْأَبَدِ قَالَ فَأَتَيْنَا عَرَفَاتٍ وَانْصَرَفْنَا مِنْهَا ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي قَدِ اعْتَمَرُوا قَالَ إِنَّ لَكِ مِثْلَ مَا لَهُمْ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي فَوَقَفَ بِأَعْلَى وَادِي مَكَّةَ وَأَمَرَ أَخَاهَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَرْدَفَهَا حَتَّى بَلَغَتِ التَّنْعِيمَ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَتْ

Jabir said “We went out along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raising our voices in talbiyah for Hakk alone(Ifrad) while A’ishah raised her voice in talbiyah for an ‘Umrah. When she reached Sarif, she menstruated. When we came to (Makkah) we circumambulated the Ka’bah and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then commanded us that those who had not brought sacrificial animals withthem should put off their ihram (after ‘Umrah). We asked “Which acts are lawful(and which not)? He replied All acts are lawful (that are permissible usually). We had therefore intercourse with our wives, used perfumes, put on our clothes. There remained only four days to perform Hajj at ‘Arafah. We then raised our voice in talbiyah (wearing Ihram for Hajj) on the eighth of Dhu al Hijjah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon A’ishah and found her weeping. He said What is the matter with you? My problem is that I have menstruated, while the people have put on their ihram but I have not done so, nor did I go round the House(the Ka’bah). Now the people are proceeding for Hajj. He said This is a thing destined by Allah to the daughters of Adam. Take a bath, then raise your voice in talbiyah for Hajj(i.e, wear ihram for Hajj). She took a abtah and performed all the rites of the Hajj(lit. she stayed at all those places where the pilgrims stay). When she was purified, she circumambulated the House (the Ka’bah), and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. He (the Prophet) said “Now you have performed both your Hajj and your ‘Umrah. She said Messenger of Allah, I have some misgiving in my mind that I did not go round the Ka’bah when I performed Hajj (in the beginning). He said ‘Abd al Rahman (her brother), take her and have her perform ‘Umrah from Al Tan’im. This happened on the night of Al Hasbah(i.e., the fourteenth of Dhu Al Hijjah). We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage. I put on Ihram for Umra and did not bring the sacrificial animal. The Apostle of Allah ﷺ said: He who has the sacrihcial animal with him should enter into the state of Ihram for Hajj along with 'Umra, and. he should not put the Ihram off till he has completed both of them. She (Hadrat A'isha) said: The monthly period began. When it was the night of Arafa, I said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: I entered into the state of Ihram for 'Umra. but now how should I perform the Hajj? Thereupon he said: Undo your hair and comb them, and desist from performing Umra, and put on Ihram for Hajj She (A'isha, said: When I had completed my Hajj he commanded 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr to carry me behind him (on boneback) in order to enable me to resume the rituals of Umra from Tan'im, the place where I abandoned its rituals. (Using translation from Muslim 1211c)

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَلَمْ أَكُنْ سُقْتُ الْهَدْيَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْيُ فَلْيُهِلَّ بِالْحَجِّ مَعَ عُمْرَتِهِ ثُمَّ لَا يَحِلَّ حَتَّى يَحِلَّ مِنْهُمَا جَمِيعًا فَحِضْتُ فَلَمَّا دَخَلَتْ لَيْلَةُ عَرَفَةَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَكَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ بِحَجَّتِي؟ قَالَ انْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَأَمْسِكِي عَنِ الْعُمْرَةِ وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ فَلَمَّا قَضَيْتُ حَجَّتِي أَمْرَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَعْمَرَنِي مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ مَكَانَ عُمْرَتِي الَّتِي نَسَكْتُ عَنْهَا

We set out with Messenger of Allah ﷺ shortly before the appearance of the new moon of Dhi-l-Hijja and he said, "Whoever wants to assume Ihram for ʿUmra may do so, and whoever wants to assume Ihram for Hajj may do so. Had not I brought the Hadi with me, I would have assumed Ihram for ʿUmra." Some of the people assumed Ihram for ʿUmra while others for Hajj. I was amongst those who had assumed Ihram for ʿUmra. I got my menses before entering Mecca, and was menstruating till the day of ʿArafat. I complained to Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it, he said, "Abandon your ʿUmra, undo and comb your hair, and assume Ihram for Hajj." So, I did that accordingly. When it was the night of Hasba (day of departure from Mina), the Prophet ﷺ sent ʿAbdur Rahman with me to at-Tanʿim. The sub-narrator adds: He (ʿAbdur-Rahman) let her ride behind him. And she assumed Ihram for ʿUmra in lieu of the abandoned one. Aisha completed her Hajj and ʿUmra, and no Hadi, Sadaqa (charity), or fasting was obligatory for her. خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مُوَافِينَلِهِلَالِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلْيُهِلَّ وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِحَجَّةٍ فَلْيُهِلَّ فَلَوْلَا أَنِّي أَهْدَيْتُ أَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ قَالَتْ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِحَجَّةٍ وَكُنْتُ مِمَّنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَحِضْتُ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَدْخُلَ مَكَّةَ فَأَدْرَكَنِي يَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ دَعِي عُمْرَتَكِ وَانْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ فَفَعَلْتُ فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ أَرْسَلَ مَعِي عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَرْدَفَهَا فَأَهَلَّتْ بِعُمْرَةٍ مَكَانَ عُمْرَتِهَا فَقَضَى الله ﷻ حَجَّهَا وَعُمْرَتَهَا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ ذَلِكَ هَدْيٌ وَلَا صَوْمٌ وَلَا صَدَقَةٌ

We raised our voices in talbiyah for Hajj. When we reached Sarif, I menstruated. The Messenger of Allah (SWAS) came upon me while I was weeping. He asked, why are your weeping, Ai’shah? I replied, I menstruated. Would that I had not come out for performing Hajj. He said : Glory be to Allah, this is a thing prescribed by Allah on the daughters of Adam. He said perform all the rites of Hajj but do not go round the House (the Ka’bah). When we entered Makkah, the Messenger of Allah (SWAS) said he who desires to make (his Hajj) an ʿUmrah may do so, except those who have sacrificial animals with them. The Messenger of Allah (SWAS) sacrificed a cow on behalf of his wives on the day of sacrifice. When the night of al-Batha came, and Ai’shah was purified she said to the Messenger of Allah (SWAS) my fellow female pilgrims will return after performing Hajj and ʿUmrah and I shall return after performing only Hajj? He therefore, ordered ʿAbd al-Rahman bin Abu Bakr who took her to al-Ta’nim. She uttered there talbiyah for ʿUmrah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1782)

لَبَّيْنَا بِالْحَجِّ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِسَرِفٍ حِضْتُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا يُبْكِيكِ يَا عَائِشَةُ؟ قُلْتُ حِضْتُ لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أَكُنْ حَجَجْتُ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ إِنَّمَا ذَاكَ شَيْءٌ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ ﷻ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ انْسُكِي الْمَنَاسِكَ كُلَّهَا غَيْرَ أَنْ لَا تَطُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا دَخَلْنَا مَكَّةَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَهَا عُمْرَةً فَلْيَجْعَلْهَا عُمْرَةً إِلَّا مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْيُ قَالَتْ وَذَبَحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ نِسَائِهِ الْبَقَرَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةَ الْبَطْحَاءِ طَهُرَتْ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَتَرْجِعُ صَوَاحِبِي بِحَجَّةٍ وَعُمْرَةٍ وَأَرْجِعُ أَنَا بِحَجَّةٍ فَأَمَرَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَذَهَبَ بِي إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَلَبَّيْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ

[AI] Aisha entered upon the Prophet while I was trembling and crying. He asked, "Why are you crying, O Aisha?" She replied, "I said that people would return with two types of rituals, then I said they would return with only one type of ritual." He asked, "Why is that?" She said, "I have started my menses." He said, "That is something that Allah has ordained for the daughters of Adam. Do what the pilgrims do except that you do not circumambulate the Kaaba." She mentioned that they had performed Umrah before going to Makkah, then they traveled to Mina, then they traveled to Arafah and stood with the people. Then she stopped with a group and threw pebbles at the Jamrah (stone pillar) on the day of sacrifice, then threw pebbles at the Jamrah along with the people during those days. She mentioned that they continued traveling until they arrived at Al-Hazwa (a place where women menstruating after Tawaf al-Ifadah stay until their menses ended) and said, "By Allah, I did not reach this place except for my sake," or she said, "for her sake," referring to herself. Then the Prophet sent Abdur-Rahman and said, "Carry her behind you until you take her out of the sanctuary." She said, "By Allah, he did not take her out except to Ji'ranah or Tan'im," referring to places outside the Haram. He said to her, "Perform 'Umrah from here." She said, "So we set off and the nearest place was Tan'im. So I performed 'Umrah from there, then I came to the House and performed Tawaf around it and between Safa and Marwa, then I came to the Prophet and he left." Ibn Abi Mulaykah said, "Aisha used to do that afterwards."

عَائِشَةُ دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَنَا بِسَرِفَ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا يُبْكِيكِ يَا عَائِشَةُ؟ فَقَالَتْ قُلْتُ يَرْجِعُ النَّاسُ بِنُسُكَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَرْجِعُ بِنُسُكٍ وَاحِدٍ قَالَ وَلِمَ ذَاكَ؟ قُلْتُ إِنِّي حِضْتُ قَالَ ذَاكَ شَيْءٌ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ اصْنَعِي مَا يَصْنَعُ الْحَاجُّ قَالَتْ فَقَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ ثُمَّ ارْتَحَلْنَا إِلَى مِنًى ثُمَّ ارْتَحَلْنَا إِلَى عَرَفَةَ ثُمَّ وَقَفْنَا مَعَ النَّاسِ ثُمَّ وَقَفْتُ بِجَمْعٍ ثُمَّ رَمَيْتُ الْجَمْرَةَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ ثُمَّ رَمَيْتُ الْجِمَارَ مَعَ النَّاسِ تِلْكَ الْأَيَّامَ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ ارْتَحَلَ حَتَّى نَزَلَ الْحَصْبَةَ قَالَتْ وَاللهِ مَا نَزَلَهَا إِلَّا مِنْ أَجْلِي أَوْ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ عَنْهَا إِلَّا مِنْ أَجْلِهَا ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَ إِلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ فَقَالَ احْمِلْهَا خَلْفَكَ حَتَّى تُخْرِجَهَا مِنَ الْحَرَمِ فَوَاللهِ مَا قَالَ فَتُخْرِجُهَا إِلَى الْجِعِرَّانَةِ وَلَا إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَلْتُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ قَالَتْ فَانْطَلَقْنَا فَكَانَ أَدْنَاهَا إِلَى الْحَرَمِ التَّنْعِيمُ فَأَهْلَلْتُ مِنْهُ بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلْتُ فَأَتَيْتُ الْبَيْتَ فَطُفْتُ بِهِ وَطُفْتُ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ فَارْتَحَلَ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ وَكَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ تَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ بَعْدُ

[AI] Aisha said: We left with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and we only mentioned Hajj. When we arrived at Sarif, I experienced menstruation. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me while I was crying, and he said, "What is making you cry?" I said, "I wish I had not performed 'Umrah this year." He said, "Perhaps you are expecting your period." I said, "Yes." He said, "This is something that Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam, so do what the pilgrims do, except do not perform tawaf around the Ka'bah until you are purified." When we arrived in Makkah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions, "Make it 'Umrah." So people assumed ihram except those who had brought sacrifices, and the sacrificial animals were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , Abu Bakr, Umar, and those who had brought their sacrificial animals. Then they proceeded for Hajj after 'Umrah. When it was the Day of Sacrifice, I purified myself and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to perform tawaf. I said, "What is this?" They said, "This is a cow that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had sacrificed on behalf of his wives." When it was the night of Hasbah, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, people are returning with the Hajj and 'Umrah, and I am returning with the Hajj only." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr to accompany me on his camel. She said, "I remember, while I was a young girl, that I would fall asleep and my face would hit the back of the saddle until he brought me to Tan'im. Then I performed 'Umrah as compensation for the previous 'Umrah."

كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ تَقُولُ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا نَذْكُرُ إِلَّا الْحَجَّ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا سَرِفَ طَمِثْتُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا يُبْكِيكِ؟ قُلْتُ وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَخْرُجِ الْعَامَ قَالَ لَعَلَّكِ نَفِسْتِ يَعْنِي حِضْتِ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا شَيْءٌ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَافْعَلِي مَا يَفْعَلُ الْحَاجُّ غَيْرَ أَنْ لَا تَطُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى تَطْهُرِي فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِأَصْحَابِهِ اجْعَلُوهَا عُمْرَةً فَحَلَّ النَّاسُ إِلَّا مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ وَكَانَ الْهَدْيُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَذَوِي الْيَسَارَةِ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ رَاحُوا مُهِلِّينَ بِالْحَجِّ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ طَهُرْتُ فَأَرْسَلَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ فَأَفَضْتُ يَعْنِي طُفْتُ قَالَتْ فَأُتِينَا بِلَحْمِ بَقَرٍ فَقُلْتُ مَا هَذَا؟ قَالُوا هَذَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَبَحَ عَنْ نِسَائِهِ الْبَقَرَ قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ يَرْجِعُ النَّاسُ بِحَجَّةٍ وَعُمْرَةٍ وَأَرْجِعُ بِحَجَّةٍ فَأَمَرَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَرْدَفَنِي عَلَى جَمَلِهِ قَالَتْ فَإِنِّي لَأَذْكُرُ وَأَنَا جَارِيَةٌ حَدِيثَةُ السِّنِّ أَنِّي أَنْعَسُ فَتَضْرِبُ وَجْهِي مُؤَخِّرَةُ الرَّحْلِ حَتَّى جَاءَ بِيَ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ جَزَاءً بِعُمْرَةِ

[AI] Narrated by Aisha, the wife of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , she said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went for Hajj for five nights in the remaining days of Dhul-Qa'dah. People were only talking about Hajj until he ﷺ took along with him the sacrificial animal and a group of people. He commanded the people to perform Umrah except for those who had brought the sacrificial animal. I was menstruating on that day, so he ﷺ came to me while I was crying and he asked, "What's wrong, Aisha? Are you upset?" I replied, "Yes, by Allah! I wish I had not gone out with you in this year's journey." He said, "Don't say that. Verily, you perform all the rituals that a pilgrim does, except for the Tawaf (circumambulation) around the Kaaba." I said, "Well, I still performed my Hajj rites." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Makkah, and everyone who didn't have the sacrificial animal with them performed Umrah. His wives also performed Umrah. On the Day of Sacrifice, I was brought a lot of beef, which was put in my house. I asked, "What is this?" They said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has sacrificed the cow on behalf of his wives." When the night of Maghrib (the evening prayer) came during the Day of At-Tashriq, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me with my brother, Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr, to Mecca, and he instructed me to assume the Ihram (ritual state of pilgrimage) for my Umrah, in the place where I had missed my Umrah previously. Ya'qub also reported this from another place regarding the time of Hajj. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded his wives to perform Umrah, and he commanded the people who didn't have a sacrificial animal to perform Umrah, and he commanded those who had brought a sacrificial animal from among the nobles to remain in their sanctity.

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى الْحَجِّ لِخَمْسِ لَيَالٍ بَقِينَ مِنْ ذِي الْقَعْدَةِ وَلَا يَذْكُرُ النَّاسُ إِلَّا الْحَجَّ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِسَرِفَ وَقَدْ سَاقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَعَهُ الْهَدْيَ وَأَشْرَافٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ أَمَرَ النَّاسَ أَنْ يَحِلُّوا بِعُمْرَةٍ إِلَّا مَنْ سَاقَ الْهَدْيَ وَحِضْتُ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا لَكِ يَا عَائِشَةُ لَعَلَّكِ نَفِسْتِ؟ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ وَاللهِ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَخْرُجْ مَعَكُمْ عَامِي هَذَا فِي هَذَا السَّفَرِ قَالَ لَا تَفْعَلِي لَا تَقُولِي ذَلِكَ فَإِنَّكِ تَقْضِينَ كُلَّ مَا يَقْضِي الْحَاجُّ إِلَّا أَنَّكِ لَا تَطُوفِينَ بِالْبَيْتِ قَالَتْ فَمَضَيْتُ عَلَى حَجَّتِي وَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَكَّةَ فَحَلَّ كُلُّ مَنْ كَانَ لَا هَدْيَ مَعَهُ وَحَلَّ نِسَاؤُهُ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ أُتِيتُ بِلَحْمِبَقَرٍ كَثِيرٍ فَطُرِحَ فِي بَيْتِي فَقُلْتُ مَا هَذَا؟ قَالُوا ذَبَحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ نِسَائِهِ الْبَقَرَ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَعَ أَخِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَعْمَرَنِي مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ مَكَانَ عُمْرَتِي الَّتِي فَاتَتْنِي وحَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ فِي مَوْضِعٍ آخَرَ فِي الْحَجِّ وَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نِسَاءَهُ فَحَلَلْنَ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ النَّاسَ أَنْ يَحِلَّ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ وَأَمَرَ مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ مِنْ أَشْرَافِ النَّاسِ أَنْ يَثْبُتَ عَلَى حُرْمِهِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever wishes to perform Hajj, let them do so, and whoever wishes to perform Umrah, let them do so." So some of us performed Hajj and some of us performed Umrah. I, however, performed Umrah. When we reached Sarif, I mentioned menstruation. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me while I was crying and I said, "I wish I had not performed my Umrah this year." I mentioned her menstruation to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shave your head, perform the purification rituals, and do what the Muslim pilgrims do during Hajj." So I obeyed Allah and His Messenger. On the night of Sadr (the day to depart Makkah), Abdur Rahman bin Abu Bakr ordered her to leave for Tan'im. She said, "I performed Umrah from there."

النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِحَجٍّ فَلْيُهِلَّ وَمَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلْيُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ» قَالَتْ فَمِنَّا مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِحَجٍّ وَمِنَّا مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ قَالَ فَكُنْتُ أَنَا مِمَّنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِسَرِفَ ذَكَرْتُ الْمَحِيضَةَ دَخَلُ عَلَيَّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقُلْتُ وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَخْرُجِ الْعَامَ وَذَكَرَتْ مَحِيضَتَهَا قَالَتْ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «انْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَافْعَلِي مَا يَفْعَلُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ فِي حَجِّهِمْ» قَالَتْ فَأَطَعْتُ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةَ الصَّدْرِ أَمَرَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَخْرَجَهَا إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ قَالَتْ فَأَهْلَلْتُ مِنْهُ بِعُمْرَةٍ

' Aisha said, "We set out with Messenger of Allah ﷺs in the months of Hajj, and (in) the nights of Hajj, and at the time and places of Hajj and in a state of Hajj. We dismounted at Sarif (a village six miles from Mecca). The Prophet ﷺ then addressed his companions and said, "Anyone who has not got the Hadi and likes to do Umra instead of Hajj may do so (i.e. Hajj-al-Tamattuʿ) and anyone who has got the Hadi should not finish the Ihram after performing ' ʿUmra). (i.e. Hajj-al-Qiran). Aisha added, "The companions of the Prophet ﷺ obeyed the above (order) and some of them (i.e. who did not have Hadi) finished their Ihram after Umra." Messenger of Allah ﷺ and some of his companions were resourceful and had the Hadi with them, they could not perform Umra (alone) (but had to perform both Hajj and Umra with one Ihram). Aisha added, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me and saw me weeping and said, "What makes you weep, O Hantah?" I replied, "I have heard your conversation with your companions and I cannot perform the Umra." He asked, "What is wrong with you?' I replied, ' I do not offer the prayers (i.e. I have my menses).' He said, ' It will not harm you for you are one of the daughters of Adam, and Allah has written for you (this state) as He has written it for them. Keep on with your intentions for Hajj and Allah may reward you that." Aisha further added, "Then we proceeded for Hajj till we reached Mina and I became clean from my menses. Then I went out from Mina and performed Tawaf round the Kaʿba." Aisha added, "I went along with the Prophet ﷺ in his final departure (from Hajj) till he dismounted at Al-Muhassab (a valley outside Mecca), and we too, dismounted with him." He called ' ʿAbdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr and said to him, ' Take your sister outside the sanctuary of Mecca and let her assume Ihram for ' ʿUmra, and when you had finished ' ʿUmra, return to this place and I will wait for you both till you both return to me.' " ' Aisha added, " So we went out of the sanctuary of Mecca and after finishing from the ' ʿUmra and the Tawaf we returned to the Prophet ﷺ at dawn. He said, 'Have you performed the ' ʿUmra?' We replied in the affirmative. So he announced the departure amongst his companions and the people set out for the journey, and the Prophet: too left for Medina.'' خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي أَشْهُرِ الْحَجِّ وَلَيَالِي الْحَجِّ وَحَرَمِ الْحَجِّ حَتَّى نَزَلْنَا بِسَرِفَ قَالَتْ فَخَرَجَ إِلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ «مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ وَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَجْعَلَهَا عَمْرَةً فَلْيَفْعَلْ وَمَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْيُ فَلَا» قَالَتْ فَالْآخِذُ بِهَا وَالتَّارِكُ لَهَا مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ قَالَتْ فَأَمَّا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَرِجَالٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَكَانُوا أَهَلَ قُوَّةٍ وَكَانَ مَعَهُمُ الْهَدْيُ فَلَمْ يَقْدِرُوا عَلَى الْعُمْرَةِ قَالَتْ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ «مَا يُبْكِيكِ يَا هَنْتَاهُ؟ ‍» قُلْتُ قَدْ سَمِعْتُ قَوْلَكَ لِأَصْحَابِكَ فَمُنِعْتُ الْعُمْرَةَ قَالَ «وَمَا شَأْنُكِ؟ » قُلْتُ لَا أُصَلِّي قَالَ «فَلَا يَضُرُّكِ إِنَّمَا أَنْتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنَاتِ آدَمَ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكِ مَا كَتَبَ عَلَيْهِنَّ فَكُونِي فِي حَجَّتِكِ فَعَسَى أَنْ تُدْرِكِيهَا» قَالَتْ فَخَرَجْنَا فِي حَجَّتِهِ حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا مِنًى فَطَهَرْتُ ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ مِنْ مِنًى فَأَفَضْتُ الْبَيْتَ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ مَعَهُ فِي النَّفْرِ الْآخَرِ حَتَّى نَزَلَ الْمُحَصَّبُ وَنَزَلْنَا مَعَهُ فَدَعَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ «اخْرُجْ بِأُخْتِكَ مِنَ الْحَرَمِ فَلْتُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ افْرُغَا ثُمَّ ائْتِيَا هَاهُنَا فَإِنِّي أَنْظُرُكُمَا حَتَّى تَأْتِيَانِي» قَالَتْ فَخَرَجْتُ لِذَلِكَ حَتَّى فَرَغْتُ وَفَرَغْتُ مِنَ الطَّوَافِ ثُمَّ جِئْتُهُ سَحْرًا فَقَالَ «هَلْ فَرَغْتُمْ؟ » قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَآذَنَ بِالرَّحِيلِ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ فَارْتَحَلَ النَّاسُ فَمَرَّ بِالْبَيْتِ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ فَطَافَ بِهِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَرَكِبَ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ مُتَوَجِّهًا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ»

' Aisha said, "We set out with Messenger of Allah ﷺs in the months of Hajj, and (in) the nights of Hajj, and at the time and places of Hajj and in a state of Hajj. We dismounted at Sarif (a village six miles from Mecca). The Prophet ﷺ then addressed his companions and said, "Anyone who has not got the Hadi and likes to do Umra instead of Hajj may do so (i.e. Hajj-al-Tamattuʿ) and anyone who has got the Hadi should not finish the Ihram after performing ' ʿUmra). (i.e. Hajj-al-Qiran). Aisha added, "The companions of the Prophet ﷺ obeyed the above (order) and some of them (i.e. who did not have Hadi) finished their Ihram after Umra." Messenger of Allah ﷺ and some of his companions were resourceful and had the Hadi with them, they could not perform Umra (alone) (but had to perform both Hajj and Umra with one Ihram). Aisha added, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me and saw me weeping and said, "What makes you weep, O Hantah?" I replied, "I have heard your conversation with your companions and I cannot perform the Umra." He asked, "What is wrong with you?' I replied, ' I do not offer the prayers (i.e. I have my menses).' He said, ' It will not harm you for you are one of the daughters of Adam, and Allah has written for you (this state) as He has written it for them. Keep on with your intentions for Hajj and Allah may reward you that." Aisha further added, "Then we proceeded for Hajj till we reached Mina and I became clean from my menses. Then I went out from Mina and performed Tawaf round the Kaʿba." Aisha added, "I went along with the Prophet ﷺ in his final departure (from Hajj) till he dismounted at Al-Muhassab (a valley outside Mecca), and we too, dismounted with him." He called ' ʿAbdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr and said to him, ' Take your sister outside the sanctuary of Mecca and let her assume Ihram for ' ʿUmra, and when you had finished ' ʿUmra, return to this place and I will wait for you both till you both return to me.' " ' Aisha added, " So we went out of the sanctuary of Mecca and after finishing from the ' ʿUmra and the Tawaf we returned to the Prophet ﷺ at dawn. He said, 'Have you performed the ' ʿUmra?' We replied in the affirmative. So he announced the departure amongst his companions and the people set out for the journey, and the Prophet: too left for Medina.'' “We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Farewell Pilgrimage, close to the time of the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever among you wants to begin the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah, let him do so. If it were not for the fact that I have brought a sacrificial animal with me, I would have began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah.’” She said: “Some of the people began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah, and some began the Talbiyah for Hajj. I was one of those who began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah.” She said: “We set out until we reached Makkah, then the Day of ‘Arafah came while I was in menses, but I did not exit Ihram for ‘Umrah I complained about that to the Prophet ﷺ and he said: ‘Leave your ‘Umrah, undo your hair and comb it, and begin the Talbiyah for Hajj.’” She said: “So I did that, then on the night of Hasbah (i.e., the twelfth night of Dhul-Hijjah), when Allah had enables us to complete our Hajj, he sent ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr with me. He seated me behind him and went out to Tan’im, then I began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah and Allah enabled us to complete our Hajj and ‘Umrah, and there was no sacrificial animal, charity nor fasting.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3000)

خَرَجْنَا مُوَافِينَ لِهِلَالِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَنْ أَحَبَّ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلْيُهِلَّ فَإِنِّي لَوْلَا أَنِّي أَهْدَيْتُ لَأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ» فَأَهَلَّ بِهِ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِهِ بِحَجَّةٍ وَبَعْضُهُمْ بِعُمْرَةٍ قَالَتْ وَكُنْتُ فِيمَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَأَدْرَكَنِي يَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ لَمْ أَحِلَّ مِنْ عُمْرَتِي فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «دَعِي عُمْرَتَكِ وَانْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ وَامْتَشِطِي وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ» قَالَتْ فَفَعَلْتُ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ أَرْسَلَ مَعَهَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَرْدَفَهَا فَخَرَجَتْ إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهَلَّتْ بِعُمْرَةٍ مَكَانَ عُمْرَتِهَا فَطَافَتْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَقَضَى اللَّهُ حَجَّهَا وَعُمْرَتَهَا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ ذَلِكَ صَوْمٌ وَلَا هَدْيٌ وَلَا صَدَقَةٌ

[AI] "She said, 'We went out as pilgrims with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until we reached Sarif. I experienced menstruation, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me while I was crying. He said, 'What is the matter with you?' I said, 'I wish I had not performed Hajj this year.' He said, 'What is the matter with you?' I said, 'I menstruated.' He said, 'This is something that Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam, so do everything that the pilgrim does except for circumambulating the House.' When we arrived in Makkah, the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Make it an 'Umrah.' So they did that. Those who did not have a sacrificial animal in their possession put off ihram and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, 'Umar, and some of his companions who were from the people of Al-Yasar put it off too, but they did not shave their heads. When the day of sacrifice came, the Prophet ﷺ sacrificed his camel for his wives and I purified myself and made Tawaf around the Ka'bah and sa'iy. Then I returned to the Prophet ﷺ in Minna. When we left, he sent me with my brother 'Abdur-Rahman ibn Abu Bakr from Al-Muhassab, and he said, 'Take your sister and perform 'Umrah for her with the Taneem intention.' So he did that for me, then I made Tawaf and sa'iy again, and then I returned to him and we left.'"

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حُجَّاجًا حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا سَرِفَ فَحِضْتُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي فَقَالَ «مَا لَكِ» فَقُلْتُ لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أَحُجَّ الْعَامَ قَالَ «مَا لَكِ» قُلْتُ حِضْتُ قَالَ «هَذَا شَيْءٌ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَاصْنَعِي كَمَا يَصْنَعُ الْحَاجُ غَيْرَ أَنْ لَا تَطُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ » اجْعَلُوهَا عَمْرَةً «فَفَعَلُوا فَمَنْ لَمْ يَسُقْ هَدْيًا حَلَّ وَسَاقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَنَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْيَسَارِ فَلَمْ يَحِلُّوا فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ ذَبَحَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنْ نِسَائِهِ الْبَقَرَ وَطَهُرْتُ فَطُفْتُ بِالْبَيْتِ وَسَعَيْتُ ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِنًى فَلَمَّا نَفَرْنَا أَرْسَلَنِي مَعَ أَخِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ مِنَ الْمُحَصَّبِ فَقَالَ » أَرْدِفْ أُخْتَكَ فَأَعْمِرْهَا مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَرْدَفَنِي فَأَهْلَلْتُ مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ فَطُفْتُ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَصَدَرَنَا «

[AI] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as pilgrims, desiring only the Hajj and intending nothing else. But when it reached the days of Sarif, Aisha menstruated and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her while she was crying. He asked, "What makes you cry?" She said, "I have been afflicted with menstrual bleeding." He said, "You are from the daughters of Adam, and this is what afflicts them." We arrived in Mecca for four nights, free from the days of Hajj, so we performed Tawaf around the Ka'bah and Sa'i between Safa and Marwa, as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to do. We were conversing among ourselves, saying, "We have gone out as pilgrims, desiring only the Hajj and intending nothing else, until there is only four nights between us and Arafat." Our impurities were dripping from the women, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed about that. He stood up to deliver a sermon, saying, "Indeed, Umrah is included in Hajj. If I had not brought the sacrificial animal, I would have dismounted. So whoever does not have a sacrificial animal with him should deconsecrate his Ihram." Surqah bin Malik bin Ju'shum Al-Mudlaji said, "O Messenger of Allah, tell us about a people who were born today. Is this Umrah of ours for this year only or forever?" He said, "Forever." So we came to Arafat, and when it was time to leave, Aisha said, "O Messenger of Allah, you all performed Tawaf around the Ka'bah and Sa'i between Safa and Marwa, but I did not perform Sa'i." He said, "You will have the same ruling as the people." She asked, "What do you think about me?" He halted in the highest part of Makkah's valley and 'Abdullah bin Abi Bakr assisted her until she reached Tan'im.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حُجَّاجًا مَا نُرِيدُ إِلَّا الْحَجَّ وَلَا نَنْوِي غَيْرَهُ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِسَرِفٍ حَاضَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهِيَ تَبْكِي فَقَالَ «مَا يُبْكِيكِ؟» قَالَتْ أَصَابَنِي الْأَذَى قَالَ «إِنَّمَا أَنْتِ مِنْ بَنَاتِ آدَمَ يُصِيبُكِ مَا يُصِيبُهُنَّ» قَالَ فَقَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ لِأَرْبَعِ لَيَالٍ خَلَوْنَ مِنْ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَطُفْنَا بِالْبَيْتِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ كَمَا أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَتَذَاكَرْنَا بَيْنَنَا فَقُلْنَا خَرَجْنَا حُجَّاجًا وَلَا نُرِيدُ إِلَّا الْحَجَّ وَلَا نَنْوِي غَيْرَهُ حَتَّى إِذَا لَمْ يَبْقَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ عَرَفَاتٍ إِلَّا أَرْبَعُ لَيَالٍ وَمَذَاكِيرُنَا تَقْطُرُ الْمَنِيَّ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَامَ خَطِيبًا فَقَالَ «إِنَّ الْعُمْرَةَ قَدْ دَخَلَتْ فِي الْحَجِّ وَلَوْ أَنِّي اسْتَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ أَمْرِي مَا اسْتَدْبَرْتُ مَا سُقْتُ الْهَدْيَ وَلَوْلَا الْهَدْيُ لَأَحْلَلْتُ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ فَلْيَحْلِلْ» فَقَالَ سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ جُعْشُمٍ الْمُدْلِجِيُّ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ حَدِّثْنَا حَدِيثَ قَوْمٍ كَأَنَّمَا وُلِدُوا الْيَوْمَ عُمْرَتُنَا هَذِهِ لِعَامِنَا هَذَا؟ أَمْ لِلْأَبَدِ؟ قَالَ «لِلْأَبَدِ» فَأَتَيْنَا عَرَفَةَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ عِنْدَ الِانْصِرَافِ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّكُمْ قَدْ طُفْتُمْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ وَلَمْ أَكُنْ طُفْتُ؟ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ لَكِ مِثْلَ مَا لِلْقَوْمِ» قَالَتْ فَإِنِّي أَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي؟ قَالَ فَوَقَفَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي أَعْلَى وَادِي مَكَّةَ وَأَرْدَفَهَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ حَتَّى أَتَتِ التَّنْعِيمَ

Jabir said “We went out along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raising our voices in talbiyah for Hakk alone(Ifrad) while A’ishah raised her voice in talbiyah for an ‘Umrah. When she reached Sarif, she menstruated. When we came to (Makkah) we circumambulated the Ka’bah and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then commanded us that those who had not brought sacrificial animals withthem should put off their ihram (after ‘Umrah). We asked “Which acts are lawful(and which not)? He replied All acts are lawful (that are permissible usually). We had therefore intercourse with our wives, used perfumes, put on our clothes. There remained only four days to perform Hajj at ‘Arafah. We then raised our voice in talbiyah (wearing Ihram for Hajj) on the eighth of Dhu al Hijjah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon A’ishah and found her weeping. He said What is the matter with you? My problem is that I have menstruated, while the people have put on their ihram but I have not done so, nor did I go round the House(the Ka’bah). Now the people are proceeding for Hajj. He said This is a thing destined by Allah to the daughters of Adam. Take a bath, then raise your voice in talbiyah for Hajj(i.e, wear ihram for Hajj). She took a abtah and performed all the rites of the Hajj(lit. she stayed at all those places where the pilgrims stay). When she was purified, she circumambulated the House (the Ka’bah), and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. He (the Prophet) said “Now you have performed both your Hajj and your ‘Umrah. She said Messenger of Allah, I have some misgiving in my mind that I did not go round the Ka’bah when I performed Hajj (in the beginning). He said ‘Abd al Rahman (her brother), take her and have her perform ‘Umrah from Al Tan’im. This happened on the night of Al Hasbah(i.e., the fourteenth of Dhu Al Hijjah). أَقْبَلْنَا مُهِلِّينَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِحَجٍّ مُفْرَدٍ وَأَقْبَلَتْ عَائِشَةُ مُهِلَّةً بِعُمْرَةٍ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَتْ بِسَرِفَ عَرَكَتْ حَتَّى إِذَا قَدِمْنَا طُفْنَا بِالْكَعْبَةِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَحِلَّ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْيٌ قَالَ فَقُلْنَا حِلُّ مَاذَا؟ قَالَ «الْحِلُّ كُلُّهُ» فَوَاقَعْنَا النِّسَاءَ وَتَطَيَّبْنَا بِالطِّيبِ وَلَبِسْنَا ثِيَابَنَا وَلَيْسَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ عَرَفَةَ إِلَّا أَرْبَعُ لَيَالٍ ثُمَّ أَهْلَلْنَا يَوْمَ التَّرْوِيَةِ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَوَجَدَهَا تَبْكِي فَقَالَ «مَا شَأْنُكِ؟» قَالَتْ شَأْنِي أَنِّي قَدْ حِضْتُ وَقَدْ حَلَّ النَّاسُ وَلَمْ أَحْلِلْ وَلَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَالنَّاسُ يَذْهَبُونَ إِلَى الْحَجِّ الْآنَ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ هَذَا أَمْرٌ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَاغْتَسِلِي ثُمَّ أَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ» فَفَعَلَتْ وَوَقَفَتْ الْمَوَاقِفَ حَتَّى إِذَا طَهُرَتْ طَافَتْ بِالْكَعْبَةِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ قَدْ حَلَلْتِ مِنْ حَجِّكِ وَعُمْرَتِكِ جَمِيعًا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي أَنِّي لَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى حَجَجْتُ قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ بِهَا يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَأَعْمِرْهَا مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ وَذَلِكَ لَيْلَةَ الْحَصْبَةِ

We set out assuming the Ihram for Hajj in the months of Hajj towards the sacred precincts of Hajj. We dismounted at Sarif and the Prophet ﷺ said to his companions, "Whoever has not got the Hadi with him and likes to make it as ʿUmra, he should do it, but he who has got the Hadi with him should not do it." The Prophet ﷺ and some of his wealthy companions had the Hadi with them, so they did not finish Ihram after performing the ʿUmra. The Prophet ﷺ came to me while I was weeping. He asked me the reason for it. I replied, "I have heard of what you have said to your companions and I cannot do the ʿUmra." He asked me, "What is the matter with you?" I replied, "I am not praying." He said, "There is no harm in it as you are one of the daughters of Adam and the same is written for you as for others. So, you should perform Hajj and I hope that Allah will enable you to perform the ʿUmra as well." So, I carried on till we departed from Mina and halted at Al-Mahassab. The Prophet ﷺ called ʿAbdur- Rahman and said, "Go out of the sanctuary with your sister and let her assume Ihram for ʿUmra, and after both of you have finished the Tawaf I will be waiting for you at this place." We came back at midnight and the Prophet ﷺ asked us, "Have you finished?" I replied in the affirmative. He announced the departure and the people set out for the journey and some of them had performed the Tawaf of the Kaʿba before the morning prayer, and after that the Prophet ﷺ set out for Medina. خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مُهِلِّينَ بِالْحَجِّ فِي أَشْهُرِ الْحَجِّ وَأَيَّامِ الْحَجِّ حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا سَرِفَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِأَصْحَابِهِ «مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ سَاقَ هَدْيًا فَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَحِلَّ حَجَّهُ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلْيَفْعَلْ» قَالَتْ فَالْآخِذُ بِذَلِكَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَالتَّارِكُ فَأَمَّا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَذُو الْقُوَّةِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَكَانَ مَعَهُمْ هَدْيٌ فَلَمْ يَحِلُّوا قَالَتْ دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي وَقَدْ أَهْلَلْتُ بِالْحَجِّ فَقَالَ «مَا يُبْكِيكِ؟» فَقُلْتُ حُرِمْتُ الْعُمْرَةَ لَسْتُ أُصَلِّي قَالَ «إِنَّمَا أَنْتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنَاتِ آدَمَ كَتَبَ اللهُ عَلَيْكِ مَا كَتَبَ عَلَيْهِنَّ فَكُونِي عَلَى حَجِّكِ وَعَسَى اللهُ أَنْ يَرْزُقَكِيهَا» قَالَتْ فَخَرَجْنَا حَتَّى قَضَى اللهُ حَجَّنَا وَأَفَضْتُ ثُمَّ نَفَرْنَا مِنْ مِنًى فَنَزَلْنَا لَيْلَةَ الْحَصْبَةِ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ «اخْرُجْ بِأُخْتِكَ مِنَ الْحَرَمِ فَلْتُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ افْرُغَا فَإِنِّي أَنْتَظِرُكُمَا هَاهُنَا» فَجِئْنَاهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ «أَفَرَغْتِ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَأَذِنَ بِالرَّحِيلِ فَمَرَرْنَا بِالْبَيْتِ فَطَافَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ

[AI] A deadline approached for someone to perform the Umrah pilgrimage, until she delayed it. When she finally went, the Prophet ﷺ visited her and found her crying. He asked her what made her cry, and she replied that she had reached the age of menstruation without performing the rituals of Umrah and not having circumambulated the Kaaba, while everyone else had gone for Hajj. The Prophet ﷺ told her that this was a matter ordained by Allah for the daughters of Adam, so she should perform ablution and commence the rituals of Hajj. She did as he instructed, and when she purified herself, she circumambulated the Kaaba, Safa, and Marwa. Then the Prophet ﷺ told her that she had completed both her Hajj and Umrah. However, she still felt in her heart that she had not circumambulated the Kaaba before she performed Hajj. The Prophet ﷺ instructed her to go back with "Abd al-Rahman and perform the rituals again, this time using all the luxuries and comforts available on the Night of Husbands.

ؓ أَقْبَلَتْ مُهِلَّةً بِعُمْرَةٍ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَتْ بِسَرِفَ عَرَكَتْ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَوَجَدَهَا تَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا يُبْكِيكِ؟ قَالَتْ حِضْتُ وَلَمْ أَحْلِلْ وَلَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَالنَّاسُ يَذْهَبُونَ إِلَى الْحَجِّ الْآنَ قَالَ فَإِنَّ هَذَا أَمْرٌ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَاغْتَسِلِي ثُمَّ أَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ فَفَعَلَتْ وَوَقَفَتِ الْمَوَاقِفَ حَتَّى إِذَا طَهُرَتْ طَافَتْ بِالْكَعْبَةِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ قَدْ حَلَلْتِ مِنْ حَجِّكِ وَعُمْرَتِكِ جَمِيعًا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي أَنِّي لَمْ أَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى حَجَجْتُ قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ بِهَا يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَأَعْمِرْهَا مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ وَذَلِكَ لَيْلَةَ الْحَصْبَةِ

Jabir said “We went out along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raising our voices in talbiyah for Hakk alone(Ifrad) while A’ishah raised her voice in talbiyah for an ‘Umrah. When she reached Sarif, she menstruated. When we came to (Makkah) we circumambulated the Ka’bah and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then commanded us that those who had not brought sacrificial animals withthem should put off their ihram (after ‘Umrah). We asked “Which acts are lawful(and which not)? He replied All acts are lawful (that are permissible usually). We had therefore intercourse with our wives, used perfumes, put on our clothes. There remained only four days to perform Hajj at ‘Arafah. We then raised our voice in talbiyah (wearing Ihram for Hajj) on the eighth of Dhu al Hijjah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon A’ishah and found her weeping. He said What is the matter with you? My problem is that I have menstruated, while the people have put on their ihram but I have not done so, nor did I go round the House(the Ka’bah). Now the people are proceeding for Hajj. He said This is a thing destined by Allah to the daughters of Adam. Take a bath, then raise your voice in talbiyah for Hajj(i.e, wear ihram for Hajj). She took a abtah and performed all the rites of the Hajj(lit. she stayed at all those places where the pilgrims stay). When she was purified, she circumambulated the House (the Ka’bah), and ran between al Safa’ and al Marwah. He (the Prophet) said “Now you have performed both your Hajj and your ‘Umrah. She said Messenger of Allah, I have some misgiving in my mind that I did not go round the Ka’bah when I performed Hajj (in the beginning). He said ‘Abd al Rahman (her brother), take her and have her perform ‘Umrah from Al Tan’im. This happened on the night of Al Hasbah(i.e., the fourteenth of Dhu Al Hijjah). We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with no other aim but that of Hajj till we came (to the place known as) Sarif; and there I entered in the state of menses. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me while I was weeping. He said: What makes you weep? I said: Would that I had not come (for Pilgrimage) this year. He (the Holy Prophet) said: What has happened to you? You have perhaps entered the period of menses. I said: Yes. He said: This is what has been ordained for the daughters of Adam. Do what a pilgrim does except that you should not circumambulate the House, till you are purified (of the menses). She ('A'isha) said: When I came to Mecca, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions: Make this (Ihram) the Ihram for 'Umra. So the people put off Ihram except those who had sacrificial animals with them. She ('A'isha) said: The Apostle of Allah ﷺ had the sacrificial animal with him, and so had Abu Bakr, 'Umar and other persons of means. They (those who had put off Ihram again) put on Ihram (for Hajj) when they marched (towards Mina), and it was the 8th of Dhu'l-Hijja. She ('A'isha) said: When it was the day of sacrifice (10th of Dhu'l-Hijja), I was purified, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me and I did the circumambulation of Ifada. She said that the flesh of cow was sent to us. I said: What is it? They said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has offered a cow as sacrifice on behalf of his wives. When it was the night at Hasba, I said: Messenger of Allah, people are coming back from Hajj and Umra, where as I am coming back from Hajj (alone). She (A'isha) reported: He (the Holy Prophet) commanded" Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr to mount me upon his camel behind him. She ('A'isha) said: I was very young and I well remember that I dozed off and my face touched the hind part of the haudaj (camel litter) till we came to Tan'im, and entered into the state of Ihram in lieu of Umra (which I for the time being abandoned) and which the people had performed. مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا نَذْكُرُ إِلَّا الْحَجَّ فَلَمَّا جِئْنَا سَرِفَ طَمِثْتُ قَالَتْ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَبْكِي قَالَ مَا يُبْكِيكِ؟ قَالَتْ فَقُلْتُ وَاللهِ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنْ لَا أَحُجَّ الْعَامَ قَالَ فَلَعَلَّكِ نُفِسْتِ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا شَيْءٌ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَافْعَلِي مَا يَفْعَلُ الْحَاجُّ غَيْرَ أَنْ لَا تَطُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى تَطْهُرِي فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لِأَصْحَابِهِ اجْعَلُوهَا عُمْرَةً قَالَتْ فَحَلَّ النَّاسُ إِلَّا مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْيُ قَالَتْ وَكَانَ الْهَدْيُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ ؓ وَذِي الْيَسَارَةِ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ رَاحُوا مُهِلِّينَ بِالْحَجِّ قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ طَهُرْتُ فَأَرْسَلَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَفَضْتُ قَالَتْ وَأُتِينَا بِلَحْمِ بَقَرٍ فَقُلْتُ مَا هَذَا؟ قَالُوا أَهْدَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ نِسَائِهِ الْبَقَرَ قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا كَانَ لَيْلَةُ الْحَصْبَةِ قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَرْجِعُ النَّاسُ بِحَجَّةٍ وَعُمْرَةٍ وَأَرْجِعُ بِحَجَّةٍ قَالَتْ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَرْدَفَنِي عَلَى جِمْلِهِ قَالَتْ فَإِنِّي لَأَذْكُرُ وَأَنَا جَارِيَةٌ حدِيثَةُ السِّنِّ فَيَطْرِفُ وَجْهِي مُؤْخِرَةَ الرَّحْلِ حَتَّى أَتَى التَّنْعِيمَ فَأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ جَزَاءَ الْعُمْرَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ الَّتِي اعْتَمَرُوا

[AI] He heard Jabir saying that the Prophet ﷺ entered upon Aisha while she was crying, so he asked her, "Why are you crying?" She said, "I cry because people have performed Hajj and Umrah, and I have not performed Hajj or circumambulated the Kaaba. Hajj season has come." He said, "Indeed, this is a matter that Allah has ordained upon the daughters of Adam. So, perform Ghusl (ritual bath), and your family too, for Hajj, and then perform Hajj." She said, "So, I did that. When I purified myself, he said, 'Now, perform Tawaf (circumambulation) between Safa and Marwa.' After you have completed your Hajj and Umrah, she said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I feel that in myself regarding my Umrah that I did not do Tawaf until I performed Hajj.' He said, 'Go on, Abdur Rahman, and perform it from the provision of honey.'"

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا يَقُولُ دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ وَهِيَ تَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا لَكِ تَبْكِينَ؟ قَالَتْ أَبْكِي أَنَّ النَّاسَ حَلُّوا وَلَمْ أَحْلِلْ وَطَافُوا بِالْبَيْتِ وَلَمْ أَطُفْ وَهَذَا الْحَجُّ قَدْ حَضَرَ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا أَمْرٌ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَى بَنَاتِ آدَمَ فَاغْتَسِلِي وَأَهِلِّي بِالْحَجِّ ثُمَّ حُجِّي قَالَتْ فَفَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ فَلَمَّا طَهُرْتُ قَالَ طُوفِي بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ثُمَّ قَدْ حَلَلْتِ مِنْ حَجِّكِ وَعُمْرَتِكِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَجِدُ فِي نَفْسِي مِنْ عُمْرَتِي أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ طُفْتُ حَتَّى حَجَجْتُ فَقَالَ اذْهَبْ بِهَا يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَأَعْمِرْهَا مِنَ التَّنْعِيمِ

"خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّة الوَدَاعِ مُوَافِينَ لِهِلاَلِ ذِي الحِجَّةِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ : مَنْ أَرَادَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يُهِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَلْيُهِلَّ، فَإِنِّي لَوْلَا أَنِّي أَهْدَيْتُ لأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ، فَكَانَ مِنَ القَوْمِ مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِحَجٍّ، فَكُنْتُ أَنَا مِمَّنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَخَرَجْنَا حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ فَأَدْرَكَنِي يَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ لَم أَهِلَّ مِنْ عُمْرَتِي، فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِكَ للنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: دَعِي عُمْرَتَكِ، وَانْقُضِي رَأْسَكِ، وَامْتَشِطِي، وَأَهِلِّي بِالحَجِّ. فَفَعَلْتُ فَلَمَّا كَانَ لَيْلَةُ الحَصْبَةِ (*)، وَقَدْ قَضَى اللهُ - تَعَالَى- حَجَّنَا أَرْسَلَ مَعِي عَبْدَ الرحْمنِ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَرْدَفنِي وَخَرَجَ بِي إِلَى التَّنْعِيمِ فَأَهْلَلْتُ بِعُمْرَةٍ، فَقَضَى اللهُ - تَعَالَى- حَجَّنَا وَعُمْرَتَنَا، لَمْ يَكُنْ فِي ذَلِكَ هَدْيٌ وَلَا صَدَقَةٌ وَلَا صَوْمٌ".
