[Machine] Shaddad ibn Abdullah reported to me that he had met a group of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ . They narrated to me that Abu Umamah reported from Amr ibn Absah, who said, "I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, teach me something that Allah has taught you.' He replied, 'When you pray the morning prayer (Fajr), shorten your prayer until the sun rises. Then, do not pray until it reaches its zenith, for it rises between the horns of Satan, and at that time the disbelievers prostrate to it. When it reaches the length of a spear or two, then pray, for the prayer is witnessed and prohibited until the shadow is inclined towards the east. Then, shorten your prayer, for it is at that time that Hell is fueled. When the sun sets, then pray, for the prayer is witnessed and prohibited until you pray the afternoon prayer (Asr). When you pray the afternoon prayer, shorten your prayer until the sun sets, for it sets between the horns of Satan, and at that time the disbelievers prostrate to it."  

حَدَّثَنِي شَدَّادُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبَسَةَ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَلِّمْنِي مِمَّا عَلَّمَكَ اللهُ ﷻ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَقْصِرْ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ فَإِذَا طَلَعَتْ فَلَا تُصَلِّ حَتَّى تَرْتَفِعَ فَإِنَّهَا تَطْلُعُ حِينَ تَطْلُعُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيْ شَيْطَانٍ وَحِينَئِذٍ يَسْجُدُ لَهَا الْكُفَّارُ فَإِذَا ارْتَفَعَتْ قِيدَ رُمْحٍ أَوْ رُمْحَيْنِ فَصَلِّ فَإِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ مَشْهُودَةٌ مَحْضُورَةٌ حَتَّى يَعْنِي يَسْتَقِلَّ الرُّمْحُ بِالظِّلِّ ثُمَّ أَقْصِرْ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فَإِنَّهَا حِينَئِذٍ تُسْجَرُ جَهَنَّمُ فَإِذَا أَفَاءَ الْفَيْءُ فَصَلِّ فَإِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ مَشْهُودَةٌ مَحْضُورَةٌ حَتَّى تُصَلِّيَ الْعَصْرَ فَإِذَا صَلَّيْتَ الْعَصْرَ فَأَقْصِرْ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ فَإِنَّهَا تَغْرُبُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيْ شَيْطَانٍ فَحِينَئِذٍ يَسْجُدُ لَهَا الْكُفَّارُ  

I asked: Messenger of Allah, in which part of night the supplication is more likely to be accepted? He replied: In the last part: Pray as much as you like, for the prayer is attended by the angels and it is recorded till you offer the dawn prayer; then stop praying when the sun is rising till it has reached the height of one or two lances, for it rises between the two horns of the Devil, and the infidels offer prayer for it (at that time). Then pray as much as you like, because the prayer is witnessed and recorded till the shadow of a lance be- comes equal to it. Then cease prayer, for at that time the Hell-fire is heated up and doors of Hell are opened. When the sun declines, pray as much as you like, for the prayer is witnessed till you pray the afternoon prayer; then cease prayer till the sun sets, for it sets between the horns of the Devil, and (at that time) the infidels offer prayer for it. He narrated a lengthy tradition. Abbas said: AbuSalam narrated this tradition in a similar manner from AbuUmamah. If I have made a mistake unintentionally, I beg pardon of Allah and repent to Him. أَنَّهُ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أِيُّ اللَّيْلِ أَسْمَعُ؟ قَالَ جَوْفُ اللَّيْلِ الْآخِرِ فَصَلِّ مَا شِئْتَ فَإِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ مَشْهُودَةٌ مَكْتُوبَةٌ حَتَّى تُصَلِّيَ الصُّبْحَ ثُمَّ أَقْصِرْ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ وَتَرْتَفِعَ قَيْسَ رُمْحٍ أَوْ رُمْحَيْنِ فَإِنَّهَا تَطْلُعُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيْ شَيْطَانٍ وَيُصَلِّي لَهَا الْكُفَّارُ ثُمَّ صَلِّ مَا شِئْتَ فَإِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ مَشْهُودَةٌ مَكْتُوبَةٌ حَتَّى يُعْدَلَ الرُّمْحُ ثُمَّ أَقْصِرْ فَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ تُسَجَّرُ وَتُفْتَحُ أَبْوَابُهَا فَإِذَا زَاغَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَصَلِّ مَا شِئْتَ؛ فَإِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ مَشْهُودَةٌ حَتَّى تُصَلِّيَ الْعَصْرَ ثُمَّ أَقْصِرْ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ فَإِنَّهَا تَغْرُبُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيْ شَيْطَانٍ فَتُصَلِّي لَهَا الْكُفَّارُ قَالَ وَقَصَّ حَدِيثًا طَوِيلًا  

"جوْفُ الليلِ الآخِرُ، فَصلِّ ما شِئْت؛ فإِنَّ الصلاةَ مشْهُودةٌ مكْتُوبةٌ حتَّى تُصلِّى الصُّبح ثُمَّ أَقْصِر حتَّى تطْلُع الشَّمْسُ فَترتفِع قِيسَ رُمحٍ أَوْ رُمْحيْنِ فإِنَّها تطلُعُ بيْنَ قَرنى شيطان، ويُصلِّى لَها الكُفَّارُ، ثُمَّ صلِّ مَا شِئتَ؛ فَإِنَّ الصلاةَ مشْهُودةٌ مكْتُوبةٌ، حتى يعدِل الرُّمحُ ظِلَّهُ، ثم أَقْصِر، فَإِنَّ جهنَّم تُسجَّرُ وتفْتحُ أَبوابها، فإِذا زَاعتِ الشمسُ فصلِّ ما شِئت؛ فَإِنَّ الصلاةَ مشْهُودةٌ، حتَّى تصلِّى الْعصر، ثُمَّ أَقْصر حتى تغْرُب الشَّمسُ، فإِنها تَغْرُبُ بين قرنى شيطان، ويُصلِّى لها الكُفَّارُ".

د، طب، ك عن عمرو بن عبسة أَنه قال: يا رسول اللَّه: أَىُّ الليل أَسمعُ؟ قال: فذكره، زاد؛ ت، ك (وإِذا توضأت فاغسل يديكَ؛ فإِنك إِذا غَسلْت يديكَ خرجت خطاياك من أَظفار أَناملك، ثم إِذا غسلت وجهكَ خرجت خطاياك من وجهك، ثم إِذا مضْمضْت واستنثرت خرجت خطاياك من مناخرك، ثم إِذا غسلت يديك خرجت خطاياك من ذراعيك، ثم إِذا مسحت برأسِكَ خرجت خطاياك من أطراف شعرِك، ثم إِذا غسلت رجليك خرجت خطاياك من رجليك، فإِن ثبتَّ في مجلسك كان لك حظٌّ من وضوئِكَ،  

"صَلِّ صَلَاةَ الصَّبحِ ثُمَّ أَقْصِر عَن الصَّلَاةِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ، حَتَّى تَرَتَفِعَ؛ فإِنَّهَا تَطْلَعُ - حِينَ تَطلُعُ - بَينَ قَرَنَى شَيطانٍ، وحِينئِذٍ يَسْجُدُ لَها الكُفَّارُ، ثُمَّ صَلِّ، فإِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ مَشْهُودَة مَحضُورَة حَتَّى يَنْتَقِلَ الظِّلُّ بالرُّمح ثُمَّ أَقْصِر عَن الصَّلَاةِ؛ فَإِنَّ حينئذٍ تُسجَرُ جَهَنَّمُ، فإِذَا أَقْبَل الفئُ فَصلِّ؛ فَإِنَّ الصَّلَاةُ مَشْهُودَة مَحْضُورَة حَتَّى تُصَلِّىَ الْعَصْرَ، ثُمَّ أَقْصِرْ عَن الصَّلاةِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ، فإِنَّها تَغْرُبُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَى شَيْطَان وَحِينَئذِ يَسْجُدُ لَهَا الْكُفَارُ".
