“I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, teach me something that I may ask Allah, [Mighty and Sublime] for.’ He ﷺ said: ‘Ask Allah for Al-ʿĀfiyah.’ Then I remained for a day, then I came and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, teach me something that I may ask Allah for.’ So he ﷺ said to me: “O Abbas, O uncle of the Messenger of Allah! Ask Allah for Al-ʿĀfiyah in the world and in the Hereafter.”  

الترمذي:٣٥١٤حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبِيدَةُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عَلِّمْنِي شَيْئًا أَسْأَلُهُ اللَّهَ ﷻ قَالَ سَلِ اللَّهَ الْعَافِيَةَ فَمَكَثْتُ أَيَّامًا ثُمَّ جِئْتُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عَلِّمْنِي شَيْئًا أَسْأَلُهُ اللَّهَ فَقَالَ لِي يَا عَبَّاسُ يَا عَمَّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ سَلِ اللَّهَ الْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ  

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ قَدْ سَمِعَ مِنَ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ

[Machine] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, teach me something that I can supplicate with." He said, "Ask Allah for forgiveness and well-being." Then I went to him again and said, "O Messenger of Allah, teach me something that I can supplicate with." He said, "O Abbas, O my uncle, ask Allah for well-being in this world and the Hereafter."  

أحمد:١٧٨٣حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ قَالَ

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَلِّمْنِي شَيْئًا أَدْعُو بِهِ فَقَالَ سَلِ اللهَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَلِّمْنِي شَيْئًا أَدْعُو بِهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ يَا عَبَّاسُ يَا عَمَّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ سَلِ اللهَ الْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ

Abbas bin Abdul Mmuttalib (ra) said that he requested the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to teach him a supplication whereby he May request Allah for his needs. The Prophet (ﷺ) said,"0 Abbas, ask Allah for aafiyah (security). After some days, he again met the Prophet (ﷺ) and asked," Teach me a supplication to beseech Allah for my want." He said, "O Abbas! O uncle of the messenger of Allah! Ask Allah for aafiyah (security) in this world and the next."
