“When this Ayah was revealed: ‘Then on that Day, you shall be asked about the delights!’ the people said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! About which delights shall we be asked? For they are only the two black things, while the enemy is present and our swords are (at the ready) upon our shoulders?” He said: ‘But it is what shall come.’”  

الترمذي:٣٣٥٧حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ (ثمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ ) قَالَ النَّاسُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَىِّ النَّعِيمِ نُسْأَلُ وَإِنَّمَا هُمَا الأَسْوَدَانِ وَالْعَدُوُّ حَاضِرٌ وَسُيُوفُنَا عَلَى عَوَاتِقِنَا قَالَ إِنَّ ذَلِكَ سَيَكُونُ  

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَحَدِيثُ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عِنْدِي أَصَحُّ مِنْ هَذَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ أَحْفَظُ وَأَصَحُّ حَدِيثًا مِنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ

[Machine] "When Surah Al-Takathur was revealed, the Prophet ﷺ recited it until he reached the verse 'Indeed, you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.' They asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, about what pleasure will we be asked?' They said, 'The two blacks, water and dates, and our swords on our necks while the enemy is present. So, what pleasure will we be asked?' He said, 'Indeed, that will be [a time of] destruction.'"

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ فَقَرَأَهَا حَتَّى بَلَغَ {لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ} [التكاثر 8] قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَنْ أَيِّ نَعِيمٍ نُسْأَلُ؟ وَإِنَّمَا هُمَا الْأَسْوَدَانِ الْمَاءُ وَالتَّمْرُ وَسُيُوفُنَا عَلَى رِقَابِنَا وَالْعَدُوُّ حَاضِرٌ فَعَنْ أَيِّ نَعِيمٍ نُسْأَلُ؟ قَالَ إِنَّ ذَلِكَ سَيَكُونُ
