"I was next to Zaid bin Arqam when he was asked: 'How many battles did the Prophet ﷺ fight ?' He said: 'Nineteen.' So I said: 'How many battles did you take part in with him ?' he said: 'Seventeen.' I said: 'Which of them was the first?' He said: 'Dhat Al-Ushaira' or Al-'Usaira'. '"

[Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.

الترمذي:١٦٧٦ – حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ

كُنْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ كَمْ غَزَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنْ غَزْوَةٍ قَالَ تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ فَقُلْتُ كَمْ غَزَوْتَ أَنْتَ مَعَهُ قَالَ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ قُلْتُ أَيَّتُهُنَّ كَانَ أَوَّلَ قَالَ ذَاتُ الْعُشَيْرَاءِ أَوِ الْعُسَيْرَاءِ

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

Once, while I was sitting beside Zaid bin Al-Arqam, he was asked, "How many Ghazwat did the Prophet undertake?" Zaid replied, "Nineteen." They said, "In how many Ghazwat did you join him?" He replied, "Seventeen." I asked, "Which of these was the first?" He replied, "Al-ʿAshira or Al- ʿAshiru."

البخاري:٣٩٤٩ – حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ

muslim:1254b – Muḥammad b. al-Muthanná And Ibn Bashhār And al-Lafẓ Ibn al-Muthanná > Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Abū Isḥāq

How many military expeditions did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ undertake? He said: Nineteen expeditions. I asked him: On how many expeditions did you accompany him? He said: On seventeen expeditions. I asked: Which was the first expedition he led? He answered: Dhat-ul-, Usair or 'Ushair.

مسلم:١٢٥٤b – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لاِبْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ خَرَجَ يَسْتَسْقِي بِالنَّاسِ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ اسْتَسْقَى قَالَ فَلَقِيتُ يَوْمَئِذٍ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ

وَقَالَ لَيْسَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ غَيْرُ رَجُلٍ أَوْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ رَجُلٌ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ كَمْ غَزَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ فَقُلْتُ كَمْ غَزَوْتَ أَنْتَ مَعَهُ قَالَ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ غَزْوَةً قَالَ فَقُلْتُ فَمَا أَوَّلُ غَزْوَةٍ غَزَاهَا قَالَ ذَاتُ الْعُسَيْرِ أَوِ الْعُشَيْرِ

ahmad:19335 – Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Abū Isḥāq

[Machine] I met Zaid bin Arqam and asked him, "How many battles did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ participate in?" He replied, "Nineteen." I then asked him, "How many battles did you participate in with him?" He replied, "Seventeen battles." I asked further, "Which was the first battle the Prophet ﷺ fought?" He replied, "The Battle of 'Ushayrah."

أحمد:١٩٣٣٥ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ

لَقِيتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ فَقُلْتُ كَمْ غَزَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ قُلْتُ كَمْ غَزَوْتَ أَنْتَ مَعَهُ؟ قَالَ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ غَزْوَةً قَالَ فَقُلْتُ فَمَا أَوَّلُ غَزْوَةٍ غَزَا؟ قَالَ ذَاتُ الْعُشَيْرِ أَوِ الْعُشَيْرَةِ

ذِكْرُ عَدَدِ غَزَوَاتِ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ

ibnhibban:6283 – Abū Khalīfah > Abū al-Walīd And Ibn Kathīr > Shuʿbah > Abū Isḥāq

[Machine] Ibn Kathir said, "O Abu Amr, how many battles did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fight?" He said, "Nineteen." I asked, "How many battles did you fight with him?" He said, "Seventeen." I asked, "What was the first battle he fought?" He said, "Dhu al-Ushayrah or al-Usayrah." Then Abdullah ibn Zaid prayed two Rak'ahs with the people.

ابن حبّان:٦٢٨٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ وَابْنُ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ خَرَجَ النَّاسُ يَسْتَسْقُونَ وَفِيهِمْ زَيْدُ بْنُ أَرْقَمَ مَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ قَالَ قُلْتُ كَمْ غَزَا؟

وَقَالَ ابْنُ كَثِيرٍ يَا أَبَا عَمْرٍو كَمْ غَزَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ «تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ» قُلْتُ كَمْ غَزَوْتَ مَعَهُ؟ قَالَ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ قُلْتُ مَا أَوَّلُ مَا غَزَا؟ قَالَ ذُو الْعُشَيْرَةِ أَوِ الْعُسَيْرَةِ فَصَلَّى عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ بِالنَّاسِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ
