[Machine] "What do you say, 'Umar ibn Mas'ood, while he is next to him?" Ibn Mas'ood said, "I tell him that he has been saved from being killed." He then hit his shoulder and said, "How excellent a student filled with knowledge!"  

الطبراني:٩٧٣٥ – حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رُفِعَ إِلَيْهِ §رَجُلٌ قَتَلَ رَجُلًا فَجَاءَ أَوْلَادُ الْمَقْتُولِ وَقَدْ عَفَا أَحَدُهُمْ فَقَالَ

عُمَرُ لِابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَهُوَ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ مَا تَقُولُ؟ فَقَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ «أَقُولُ لَهُ قَدْ أُحْرِزَ مِنَ الْقَتْلِ» قَالَ فَضَرَبَ عَلَى كَتِفِهِ وَقَالَ كَنِيفٌ مُلِئَ عِلْمًا

"عن قتادة: أن عمر بن الخطابِ رُفِعَ إليه رجلٌ قتلَ رجلًا، فجاء أولياءُ المقتولِ وقد عفا أحدُهم، فقال عمر لابن مسعودٍ وهو إلى جنبهِ: ما تقول؟ فقال ابن مسعود: أقولُ: إنَّه قد أُحْرِزَ من القَتْلِ؛ فضربَ على كَتِفِه، وقال: (كُنَيْفٌ (*) مُلئ عِلْمًا) ".
