[Machine] "We, the people of Banu Harith, had the largest field in the city. We used to divide the land and stipulate that what is irrigated by Maadhiyanaat and Rabii (names of wells) is for us, and what is irrigated by Jadawil (another well) is for you. Perhaps this person would perish and this person would be saved, or perhaps this person would be saved and this person would perish. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade this, and we did not have any gold or silver at that time, so we knew that."  

الطبراني:٤٣٣٧حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ قَالَ

«كُنَّا بَنِي حَارِثٍ أَكْثَرَ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ حَقْلًا وَكُنَّا نُكْرِي الْأَرْضَ وَنَشْتَرِطُ عَلَى الْأُكْرَةِ أَنَّ مَا سَقَى الْمَاذِيَانَاتِ وَالرَّبِيعَ فَلَنَا وَمَا سَقَتِ الْجَدَاوِلُ فَهُوَ لَكُمْ فَرُبَّمَا هَلَكَ هَذَا وَسَلِمَ هَذَا وَرُبَّمَا سَلِمَ هَذَا وَهَلَكَ هَذَا فَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ ذَلِكَ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ عِنْدَنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ ذَهَبٌ وَلَا فِضَّةٌ فَنَعْلَمُ ذَلِكَ»
