[Machine] "That Rāfiʿ b. Khadīj was hit by an arrow alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Uhud or the day of Khaybar. ʿUmar doubted it, so he went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, remove the arrow.' He ﷺ replied, 'O Rāfiʿ, if you want, I will remove the arrow along with its barbs. And if you want, I will remove the arrow and leave the barbs, and I will testify for you on the Day of Judgment that you are a martyr.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ removed the arrow and left the barbs, and Rāfiʿ lived with them until the time of the Caliphate of Muʿāwiyah. Then the wound burst open, and he died after ʿAṣr prayer. Ibn ʿUmar came, and it was said to him, 'O Abā ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, Rāfiʿ b. Khadīj has died.' He showed mercy and said, 'A person like Rāfiʿ should not be buried without informing the villages around Madīnah.' So when we carried his funeral, Ibn ʿUmar came and sat by the head of the grave. A woman from our party shouted, 'What does this crazy woman want, harming the old man?' Ibn ʿUmar replied, 'Surely, she should not harm the sheikh, for he does not deserve Allah's punishment.'"
