[Machine] People, indeed, this (conversation) took place before the table was set (for food). Jarir then said, "I only embraced Islam after the table was set. And I have seen the Prophet ﷺ wiping over his socks."  

الطبراني:٢٤٦٠ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ قَهْزَاذَ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي رِزْمَةَ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُهَاجِرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ جَرِيرًا مَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ فَقَالَ

النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا كَانَ هَذَا قَبْلَ الْمَائِدَةِ فَقَالَ جَرِيرٌ إِنَّمَا أَسْلَمْتُ بَعْدَ الْمَائِدَةِ «وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ»
