بَرِيرَةُ مُكَاتَبَةُ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ
[Machine] "To me, this matter seemed concerning, as you used to say, 'O Abd al-Malik, I see qualities in you that make you suitable to lead this nation. But if you are appointed, be cautious of shedding blood unjustly. For I have heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , say, 'Indeed, a man may be pushed away from the gates of paradise because he looked at it upon a bridge made of blood shed from a Muslim without right.'"
أَنْ أَلِيَ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ فَكَانَتْ تَقُولُ يَا عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ إِنِّي لَأَرَى فِيكَ خِصَالًا لَخَلِيقٌ أَنْ تَلِيَ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةَ فَإِنْ وُلِّيتَهُ فَاحْذَرِ الدِّمَاءَ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لِيُدْفَعُ عَنْ بَابِ الْجَنَّةِ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَيْهَا عَلَى مِحْجَمَةٍ مِنْ دَمٍ يُرِيقُهُ مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ»
