[Machine] About Qatadah's statement, "If you had not heard it," he said, "You would have called it a clear lie. By my life, it is better for you to conceal and keep silent about the evil of your Muslim brother when you hear it, and it is better for you to believe it."

عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ {لَوْلَا إِذْ سَمِعْتُمُوهُ} «كَذَّبْتُمْ وَقُلْتُمْ هَذَا كَذِبٌ مُبِينٌ وَلَعَمْرِي أَنْ لَا تَكْذِبَ عَنْ أَخِيكَ الْمُسْلِمِ بِالشَّرِّ إِذَا سَمِعْتَهُ خَيْرٌ لَكَ وَأَسْلَمُ مِنْ أَنْ تُذِيعَهُ وَتُفْشِيهِ وَتُصَدِّقُ بِهِ»
